In conclusion, this is a pretty good game, but I doubt I'll add it to my library since it isn't that difficult and doesn't have any lasting value.

An enjoyable, fun-filled game which should keep you puzzling for a long time to come.

Mystical Ninja had a nation of young adults spiking and dying their hair. Or not. [Jan 2004, p.189]

Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon is a wonderful Zelda like game on the N64 with plenty of comedy moments. While I certainly wouldn't put this game's story as serious, it was entertaining throughout, and it's just the right vibe of a Saturday morning cartoon show that is severally missed nowadays. The platforming is solid through out, and the ability to use up to 4 different characters, all of which can take center stage really helps from making this game staying fresh if you ever got bored controlling any given character. The dungeons are all interestingly laid out and different enough that each one feels like a new experience, and overall is one of the best experiences on the N64.

What a hidden gem this beautiful game is. You learn about Japanese culture in the beautiful and peaceful Edo-Periode.
4
Arcade adventure cum RPG in which it takes an absolute age to get anywhere and when you finally do, you wonder why you bothered. It looks quite nice and has a quirky sense of humour but the simplistic combat and gameplay that seems to consist of nothing but endless, pointless conversations with NPCs left me very cold.

If you're turned off by slightly strange Japanese humor, stay away from this game. N64 owners eager to get their hands on anything that smells even remotely of an RPG will find a funny title.

This game is a solid title. Like a Honda Civic, it doesn't do anything to blow your socks off but it doesn't dissapoint you either. It's a reliable source of FUN!!

Mystical Ninja will be digital culture shock to the uninitiated. Mystical Ninja is a solid, quirky, and entirely rehashed title that holds its own well against the horde of painful Mario clones.

If you've the stomach for the Japanese silliness, there just might be something here for you. This game is not a true RPG however. Expect a quirky 3d platformer that is easy to play and surprisingly long.

Combine equal parts Super Mario 64, Japanese soap opera, Telly Tubbies, and LSD freakout. Shake (don't stir). And pour into your Nintendo. This will approximate the effect of Mystical Ninja, the most incomprehensible of incomprehensible anime games I have ever seen. Confusing, obtuse, ridiculous and very, very mediocre.

This game is a place I will always want to return to. Amazed at the dim-witted review sites that reported a negative sort of culture shock. I played this in 5th grade (not really even knowing what Japan was) and did not find any of the story, characters or humor the least bit puzzling or confounding.

This is my go-to game for nostalgic pleasure. Though the platforming-heavy sections are quite average, the Zelda-like dungeons are hugely enjoyable. The impressive boss battles, quirky presentation and fantastic music also help to make this a really fun experience.

I don't know what it was about this game, but I just couldn't get into it. The game looked good and everything, I just didn't get invested in the story.
