The fact that I don't usually like first-person shooters and I loved my time with Midnight Murder Club speaks volumes so definitely play it.

Clever, tense, and often hilarious, Midnight Murder Club turns pitch-black mayhem into something memorable. It’s a game of light, sound, and timing that feels unlike anything else in the genre right now. With its originality and unpredictability, it’s easy to recommend—but it’s a ways off the genre-defining moment it hints at being.

Midnight Murder Club delivers original ideas, solid execution, and bursts of fun. However, its low skill ceiling and limited progression hinder long-term engagement. Best enjoyed with friends, it struggles to remain rewarding for solo players.

Midnight Murder Club brings an intriguing idea to the table which, while not reinventing the online shooter genre, attempts to give it a fresh twist. In a market dominated by fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled action, Velan Studios takes the opposite route: a slower, more methodical gameplay where reflexes take a back seat and listening becomes the key to survival. The variety of modes and the addition of a guest pass show great attention to the community, though some limitations remain: for now, the game offers only one map and a pace that might feel too niche to achieve mainstream success. Even so, Midnight Murder Club has the potential to surprise genre enthusiasts; a rough diamond that, with the right polish, could truly shine.

A single map, unbalanced game modes, and unreliable matchmaking limit its reach and replayability. Without friends, finding matches is difficult, and the lack of content quickly leads to repetition.

Midnight Murder Club is a simple pastime to while away a couple of evenings with friends, much like a virtual board game, thanks in part to the option of purchasing a single copy for everyone to play. The concept behind Velan Studios' title works, but ultimately the gameplay experience is bare bones and lacks a progression system, character customization, or even matchmaking for the PvE co-op mode—a significant issue for a purely multiplayer game.

Midnight Murder Club has a solid basis, but the content is not enough at this time.
