Lies of P: Complete Edition remains one of the finest soulslikes available, combining methodical combat, rewarding progression, and a compelling reimagining of Pinocchio with the excellent Overture expansion. While the Switch 2 version makes modest visual compromises and experiences occasional frame drops, its strong portable performance and complete package make it an easy recommendation for both newcomers and returning players.

By bundling the base game with the phenomenal Overture expansion, Lies of P: Complete Edition is the ideal way of playing this tremendous soulslike for the first time. There are some caveats, but performance on Switch 2 is largely solid, with multiple graphics settings available to choose from.

One of the best Soulslikes available, Lies of P makes its way to Switch 2 in the form of a Complete Edition. With Performance and Quality modes whether you play handheld or docked, this excellent port means you can now enjoy the base game and its expansion pretty much anywhere you go. And thanks to its post-launch support, which includes difficulty options, this is a must-have for action RPG fans.

I absolutely adore Lies of P. I foolishly ignored it back in 2023 because I thought it would be just yet another Dark Souls clone. But while it certainly borrows heavily from FromSoftware's catalogue, it does more than enough to stand on its own two feet with exceptional world design, awesome boss characters, and a wonderfully customisable weapon system. Performance isn't perfect on Switch 2, and I wouldn't recommend playing in Quality mode, but experiencing Lies of P on the go has been an absolute blast. FromSoftware better watch its back; there's a new player in town, and it's gunning for the Soulslike crown.

If I have to find a fault, it’s the €69.99 price tag... though the DLC alone costs €30. To top it all off, Neowiz is also releasing a "proper" physical edition with all the content on the cartridge—what more could you ask for? Well, for them not to use generative AI in the sequel, please.

If you couldn’t get your hands on Lies of P yet because of a lack of hardware then the Complete Edition for the Switch 2 is a great choice. It offers the same fantastic gameplay paired with a fresh setting and a dark setting that it already offered on all the other platforms two years ago. While docked you get a very good but not flawless performance. Playing the game in handheld mode is currently a bit of pain because even when putting the focus on performance it doesn’t run very smoothly. The promised day 1 patch should hopefully fix this though and should be ready when you yourself can pick up the game.

Three years later, Lies of P remains a brilliant Souls-like experience. Its take on the Bloodborne formula is still captivating, especially since so few games have attempted to capture that same style. The abundance of secrets, excellent combat, and seamless integration of the previously released DLC all help make the package feel complete, as if the additional content had always intended to be part of the base game. The real highlight is the quality of the Switch 2 port, which performs so well in both docked and portable modes that players choosing this version won't feel like they're settling for an inferior experience. For Nintendo-only players, the wait for Lies of P was ultimately worthwhile.

Lies of P: Complete Edition brings Round8 Studio’s hit to a Nintendo console for the first time with a surprisingly solid and convincing port. Despite necessary graphical compromises compared to other platforms, the Switch version retains the pacing, precision, and feel of one of the best soulslike games of recent years. The build tested predates the day-one patch—which will introduce a new 60 fps Performance mode for handheld play—hinting at even more promising room for improvement.

Lies of P: Complete Edition is the most complete package released for the Pinocchio-themed Soulslike. Everything we came to know and love from the original release is still here, and the Switch 2 handles the game wonderfully. Both in handheld and docked mode, it runs at a stable frame rate without issues. The visual quality may not be comparable to the current-gen versions, offering last-gen textures that can sometimes be a bit too dark for comfort. But Lies of P feels right at home on the Switch 2, because being able to undock my console and take my game wherever I want is still the biggest benefit of them all.
