I gave Koudelka an 9/10 because, despite its age and some dated gameplay mechanics, it delivers a remarkable experience that still stands out today. For a game released in 1999, it offered a true visual spectacle, with highly detailed character models, atmospheric environments, and cinematic presentation that were far ahead of many of its contemporaries. Its unique blend of survival horror and RPG elements, combined with excellent voice acting and a dark, memorable story, creates a distinctive identity that few games have managed to replicate. While the combat system can feel slow by modern standards, Koudelka remains an impressive and ambitious title that showcased an extraordinary level of visual artistry for its time.

One of the best game I've ever played and by no means a surprise. I knew what to expect and I'm here having a fantastic experience with it's highs and lows.

despite the poor combat system, it is a very good game and the fact that is so overlooked blows my mind, it deserve and deserves much more.

very short game but also very solid game, the music, voice acting and animated scenes were way ahead of it's time and despite a very poor combat system i had a very good time in the short time I had with it, definitely looking forward to shadow hearts now

Fantastic atmosphere and graphics. The European setting is very well realized and feels great to explore. The RPG gameplay is functional, not bad but not above average. The problem comes from the writing. Koudelka, the protagonist, is beyond unlikable. She's written as a cooler-than-you Joss Whedon wet dream. In other words, she's insufferable. With better writing this could be a real gem, but as it is the only way to play is on mute, skipping all dialogue and cutscenes.
