When i first heard about Inscryption i thought it was just another indie game with a decent gameplay like 99% of what some many indie games are about, but after seeing the Story-rich tag on steam i encouraged my self to try it and ohh boy what a game this is. first when i started playing i wasn't really impressed by the game and what it offered so i only played about 3 hours in the first 2 days, but after that i got into it and really enjoyed the puzzles and the card game system in act 1, because act 1 ended i thought the game was finished until i checked a youtube video where i found out there are still 2 acts and a finale. when i started playing act 2, the first thing that crossed my mind at the time was that the game should've ended in the first act for me to consider it perfect because i thought act 2 just wasn't it, i don't know if it's because i am not that high on 2D games or whatever the gameplay style of act 2 was, but after sometime it was the same as at the start of the game, i got into it and i really liked it. at the start of act 3, i was already so attached to the game and considering giving it a perfect score. this act is more focused on the story telling and some of the features were just mind blowing at least for me, like the boss fight where you use your own files size to fight, or when you create cards for other players to use. also, the Kam Werks footage of Lucky Carder was a great idea of telling the story of the game and knowing more about the charactes story and what Inscryption is. the finale was just as good as any other part of the game but one thing i won't forgive the developers for is Magnificus not being able to shake our hand, that crushed my heart to pieces not gonna lie. to be honest i couldn't find any down side to this game for me to not give it a perfect score, because that would just be unfair for such masterpiece, the reason is that this type of game is what you call one of a kind, and i believe that i would never find anything close to what this game has offered.

This game misleads consumers by presenting a high-quality product in the beginning, only to force a transition into an incredibly low-quality, completely different game mid-way, resulting in a blatant deception of the player base.

Meh. Aside from being a tremendously weird game I cannot say it lives up to the hype that people have given it. It has its moments but is extremely repetitive and difficult to play.

The Initial gameplay is extremely enjoyable, as the game progresses i would say the ideia changes a bit too much but it's still a great card game.

Overall it's a good game, very enjoyable, but there are some MAJORLY broken things that make this good game a mediocre, annoying unbeatable game. The first big boss at the wooden house is unbeatable. I have every side thing, I have broken combos with the squirrel, and yet It's not enough. I'm not gonna waste more of my time with this boring game. I know its rogue like but rogue like does not mean 10 hours of trying and failing... it should have been like 2-3-4 hours of dying (because its lore also) and then beat the first big boss and win. But the overly broken gameplay is just disables this. I remember thinking that Far Cry 6 Vaas DLC was broken and boring, but this game is something else. Great idea, horrible design. Literally unplayable, unbeatable, unenjoyable.

Enfim, 9/10 comprem

At first glance, it seems like a simple horror-themed card game. You're trying to survive in a dark room against a mysterious opponent. But Inscryption is so much more than that. Every new mechanic and every surprising twist peels back the layers of the game, revealing something completely different underneath. The card game mechanics are fantastic in themselves. They force deep thought but also allow for creativity. Sacrificing cards, strengthening them, finding new combinations... Every decision feels important and satisfying. The atmosphere is also superb. The tense music, the disturbing sounds, the dark visuals... It completely draws you in. But these aren't even the most impressive aspects of the game. The storytelling, the meta-narrative layers, how the game plays with itself... these are what make Inscryption unforgettable.

At first I underestimate this game because the gameplay was pretty repetitive, but boi the repetition was fun. I think it was because the death card or whatever it called, it makes your failed run still matters. I never realized how addicting this game is till I unintentionally finished the game, unlike other rogue-like where I never push myself to finish the game.

This game is a must play. It is so refreshing and unique in its own way. It messes with the player from the very first title screen all the way to the end. The game does stuff i have never experienced in other games. Just go in blind and have a great experience!

I would describe this as a very immersive card game that's quite different from the usual bunch. The game is divided into multiple main chunks, which are all very different from each other, I won't go into details here to not spoil anyone, but when you think you've beaten the game you just really haven't. Generally speaking, you'll get surprisingly attached to the characters and really immersed into whatever is going on. The card game itself is also good, once you beat the game you'll get access to ridiculously difficult challenges, whatever you prefer, this game really just has it all. Complaints? Not that many really, just the amount of back and forth you have to do with it, but that's not really a big issue

I'll be honest. I was very much on the fence about whether I wanted to play the full game after trying the demo but I sure am glad I did. Inscryption is more than it appears to be on the surface and did not fail to delight me all the way through. The card game itself is fun. It is pretty much a stripped down version of Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone, but the rogue-like campaign format suits it well as you can beef up your deck in ways that would be considered game-breaking in a traditional CCG against human players. If you ever fantasized about having OP cards in these types of games, Insrcyption can very much fulfill that fantasy. The drawback of that is that perhaps it allows a bit too much freedom; if you are at all familiar with the fundamental principles of CCGs and have some basic understanding of deck building and card value, the game will not be a challenge to you. But I liked that. I honestly did not need the game to be challenging for it to be entertaining. I got to play it the way I wanted to play it, and that was fun for me. The difficulty curve is a bit wonky and it does somewhat lessen the impact by failing to provide a steady increase of difficulty, but this is a minor complaint on my end. The good thing is that it is highly unlikely that you will feel stuck or frustrated at this game for not being able to get through it. The focus here is on the experience rather than the challenge. Inscryption actually has a pretty elegantly integrated hand-holding system to nudge you in the right direction without being overtly obvious about it. I have to praise the tone and atmosphere of this game. The music and sound design is perfect and the visuals set a unique, haunting tone. Even the camera movements bring about a sense of nostalgia without making the game feel clunky. There are certain parts of the game I would like to review but I am trying to keep this spoiler free, so I'll just say that it never gets boring and that there's always something new to delight your eyes and ears. The weakest part of Inscryption is probably the "puzzles." A lot of these can be passed just by pure random guessing and maybe that was the point. If puzzles aren't your thing, you don't have to worry because they're quite frivolous. Take your time with this game and savor it. Be creative. It's a good one. Verdict: EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD

Interesting game. Inscryption is pretty decent, an adventure that changes gameplay and art per acts, tons of secrets, fun gameplay and a interesting lore. Gameplay wise game is divided into 3 acts that play pretty different. They are each different in gameplay and style each with its own secrets. The first act is pretty fun, explorable, filled with secrets, great art style and a nice pacing. Second one and third one are kinda spoiler ish, but they change, the second one is more about strategy, you do your deck and also have a little adventure. The third one is similar to the first but its less luck based and more skill. The first one is by far the best, well done gameplay system and mechanics, more secrets than any other act, characters, a very interesting place you can walk on and its kind of short but it hits the sweetspot. Art style and visuals are interesting, they are done with care and suprisingly good, the first and third act have a dark tone while the second ressembles more like a classic rpg (a lot darker). I liked most of the designs and i liked how unique it looks. Story wise, there are 2 parts. The direct one which is easy to understand, but it is kinda generic, the first act does a good job in keeping it mysterious and interesting, while the second and third kind of abandon that or at least doesnt execute it as well as the first. You have the indirect one, told trough IRL videos and secrets hidden in the game which is pretty complicated, but can be fun. As for other stuff, OST was decent, nothing id listen but fits the game neatly and thats more than enough. Controls and gameplay is agile for experienced players but you can play it slow until you know more the stuff. Its a fun experience, Worth 7-10$, it doesnt last long, after whatever time you take on act 1, the others are 2 hours each, second maybe less, third, maybe more. First like an average of 3 hours, but if you like discovering secrets maybe more

Why would anyone give this game a 10/10? This is a terrible game. All of you who would give this a perfect score are completely out of your minds. Every act is worse than the last. Avoid this game.

Inscryption is more than a card game — it’s an experience that toys with your expectations at every turn. It lures you in with accessible mechanics, then drags you through layers of unsettling, genre-defying brilliance. For fans of rogue-likes, puzzles, and games that dare to experiment, Inscryption is a must-play. Geeksace . com

Act 1 :I loved the experience. Like i'm usually not into card games at all but this game's presentation and art style in general absorbed into the game almost immediately. It's dark as **** but not in a way that you couldn't see anything, you see just enough for you to put things together and try to figure out the puzzle pieces in the game. The game has this sort of gritty feel to it. I don't wanna say edgy cause it's definitely not that, but it's atmosphere is creepy and unsettling enough to make me wanna piss myself(Positive sentiment). Act 2 :This part of the game is probably the most controversial one. It changes the presentation drastically. Even though yes the core gameplay is still the same turn based deck building card mechanics, the visuals take a huge turn here. From a heavily stylized 3D gritty horror-ish art direction, it turns itself to a pixelated 2D perspective. It was a necessary decision to build a visual direction that could explain the lore and lay out the general gameplay effectively. While i do think this visual presentation breaks the previous act's immersion and atmosphere, it was inevitable for this game to present itself in the more usual card game aethethic. BEFORE it brings you back to it's previous gritty/horror-ish atmosphere in the third act. I'm getting way ahead of myself here. But with that knowledge in mind, act 2's visual direction actually worked pretty well for a change of pace in contrast to the game's often gritty visual style. Act 3 & overral thoughts :Absolutely my favourite part in the whole game. The visual presentation is incredibly good, the soundtrack elevates the experience, and stack it up with a genuinely well-made deck-building card game mechanics. Another thing that made this game popular is it's lore, overral story, and the Meta usage of how a video game works. They legit access some of your steam file for **** and giggles lmao i love this game. The story, the lore, and the creepy atmosphere immediately caught my attention and immersed me into the game entirely. I love it. This game is amazing. I could see myself playing this game over and over again just for the sake of it. The replayability of the title due to the rogue-lite mechanics is a huge part of my appreciations towards this game as well.

A fun game for the first 1/3 but then a twist COMPLETELY changes the game for this unique and interesting dark card game to something that pushes the Atari 2600 to its graphical limits So sorry! Its not fun building a deck for a game only to throw it all away and make you play a new card game with a new deck.

A Dark, and beautiful game about games, showcasing how your life for something can also become your own obsession, your own prison, your life, and your death. Insryption evolves brilliantly as you play and subverts your expectations of what a video game even is. 10/10 gamepla,10/10 music, 10/10 visuals/atmosphere, and 100/10 ending. not only is this game a must play, but it is also a must BEAT.

I thought Gwent was gonna be the only card videogame I ever found entertaining and yet here we are. Inscryption is a shockingly deep game, with a fascinating atmosphere, a cryptic and unexpected story filled with twists and surprises, and a rogue-like structure which stands out as one of the most replayable for all the varied builds possible in your deck. This game feels like someone who had so many great ideas for a complex card game that they could not fit all the ideas neatly into one game, so they split them apart into fragments and focused on polishing them individually more than they ever would have been separately. All 3 acts of this game are thoroughly entertaining from a mechanical perspective, and the story remains intriguing as well. This marriage between escape room time loop puzzles, and a strategic card game filled with luck and skill in equal measure, makes for a game that will engage you with the natural results of its systems as well as with its narrative. This is an unexpectedly good game, which at first glance seems to focus singularly on a simple concept, before revealing it is actually far more complex than meets the eye. I had no expectations for this game and now I have only the highest of praises to sing.

First of all, the difficulty and balance of the board game aspect, which is the core of play, is well done and **** addition, the worldview and the behavior of the characters, which extend beyond the game, create a highly immersive experience that keeps the player's hands on the game.

Act 1 is incredible, but you simply cannot trust devolver to put out a finished game. all they had to do was keep giving us more of the same. Act 2 is a complete mess that should have not been introduced. it's overcomplicated, they removed squirrel draws for no reason which makes many matches simply a process of hitting the bell and waiting to be killed because you cant spawn more than 1 single creature. when i first got to act 2 i was excited to see the different art styles and that it was so clearly inspired by pokemon tcg on gbc, but the gameplay is completely ruined. there was no reason to overhaul the card game so abruptly and yet give us so little information on how it functions, while on top of that making the graphical style drastically less detailed and harder to read. i was in love with act 1 but im severely disappointed to see how low effort and just un-fun act 2 is. you have an amazing card game here, why for the love of all that is sacred would you overhaul the entire thing in 10 different entirely backwards ways half way through the experience? we didn't pay for a game jam, we paid for a finished game. if we just had a few more bosses and stayed in the cabin setting, everything would be fine. instead, you just cram literally everything the devs came up with into the final release and it feels like 3-4 unfinished games and a very bad short film. i should add that 100% of the found footage content is a waste of time. nothing happens, they just make you use another convoluted interface to individually select short clips instead of playing them all in a row. it was a good concept to add found footage, but the footage itself was entirely lacking, boring, and an excuse to pad out the run time with content that should be cut from the final product. act 3 is fine, i dont know why they didnt just go straight from act 1 to act 3, but it's overall much more boring and has so much less interesting content to explore than act 1. they just threw everything to the wind after act 1 and it's incredibly disappointing because this could be a very good game and modding has proved as much.
