Here They Lie seems like a game made for a very specific type of player who values experience over challenge or even clarity, and thus will leave many gamers cold and nonplussed at its exotic design decisions.
As a PSVR launch title from a new development studio, Here They Lie impressed me. Tangentlemen have good ideas, atmosphere and sound design, but ultimately the meandering pacing and sporadic story beats of their work left me feeling more disappointed than scared. I’ll be keeping my eyes on these developers, though — if this is what they deliver for their debut game, I’m eager to see what they serve up next.

There are wonderfully horrifying moments and some lovely little details, but they’re too few and far between – and getting to them is an exercise in resilience rather than pleasure. [January 2016, p77]

It doesn't seem like much to me, it doesn't even scare me and it's more tedious at times, and the ending, wow wow.

Artistic popcorn flick. Shallow and safe. Definition of an artistic corporate product. Beautifully dark atmosphere in the first 1/3 of the game. Rest? Hmm... With all of this "Wooooooo What does it allll meaaan????" near the end? Not seem at all just like some stock footage that they tried to use again. Very very deeeeep... . The ending? Next to some visually dark beautifully moments... The black lady starts to grow into colossus hights and stops in the position "I AM JESUS" 8| (Just masterful storytelling, brilliant and deeeep) So my advice is: you must definitely stop reading/listening to all those nihilistic ramblings on all those notes. I regret picking every wich one of them. When I stopped it elevated the game. Becasue all things consider this game is subtle as a hammer. All of it. Maybe all of this hedonistic symbolism (Haha.. "Symbolism"? In this game? This game has no symbolism, everything is so on the nose so much that its hard calling anything "symbolism" here)... Maybe it's not shallow for the kids but... Is this kind of game should be aimed at children or adults? Be better and have more respect for your time. Read some of the more sophisticated books. Like for real. I mean... Yeah... Their hedonism destroyed their city (I won't spoil the main guy relationship story but it is as blank as it gets). This story was told already billion times better. For Christ's sake... Read the original Babylon tower. Billion times smarter and more real and current and relateble than any of this **** This is like "dark art for dummies". It's sad that with the current ability to read so much high art stories for free on the internet they still come up with guano like this. When I was on the boat I just waited for it to be over. You see... I'm someone who generally likes walking simulators:) But it's games like this that make me tired of the conventions of the genre. The number is low because I feel like they aimed for high art. And they failed at it in a way that shouldn't be praised. If you praise this game you need to play more games in this genre/ with these themes. Too much nonsense. And too inconsistent. It desperately needed single-minded-vision. Not worth it just for the few beautiful dark images. Also vr give me hard motion sickness so played it without.

Screaming creatures, cities on fire, underground stations that warp and shudder like an intestine, and a humanoid pig giving an antelope a high-five as they tag team a CRT television. What’s not to love?

A walking simulator with a disturbing and unique atmosphere, but also with a limited gameplay and basic and poor graphics.

This was one of my first PSVR games I played and hell yeah it is still today one of my best horror experiences besides RE7. It just hits the Perfect atmosphere has some great shocking moments and good graphics just try it out you will have fun!

The developers care more about affecting your mind and controlling your emotions than they do about your physical ability to complete their slice of grim fantasy.

Horror elements are overcooked and, alongside seriously limited interactions, lead to a game that’s not half as frightening as it thinks it is.

Here They Lie is a successful use of the PlayStation VR, but outside of the novelty of transporting yourself into the veil of a unique hellish landscape created by beautifully tortured souls, the actual delivery and writing fall flat.

Here They Lie is not the VR-horror game that it could have been. While is does have some tense moments, the technical imperfections and vague storytelling spoil most of the fun. Because of that, Here They Lie is not a blast to play through.

Here They Lie smacks of cynicism – a game designed with the knowledge that horror works really well in VR, without anybody involved knowing how VR games should operate. It’s distinctly unpleasant to play, and I fear it’ll be only one of many horror games that pull the same stunt as virtual reality continues to hold sway.

One of the best immersive horror experiences. Not as good as RE7, but it also shines in the same genre.

A mix of horror game and walking simulator, Here They Lie features little in the way of traditional gameplay and some sections are a little dull, but the deeply unsettling world created a real sense of fear that kept me playing through to the end.

Here They Lie A creepy surprise Here They Lie is a first person walking simulato horror game.. This game initially came out in 2016, and when it was initially released I didn’t remember hearing much good about it.. ontop of that sony did a horrible job at messagine exactly what this game was.. Selling it as if it a ps vr only game…. And I found out after downloading this game for free with this months playstation plus that this isn’t the case… you can play Here they lie both with or without playstation vr… I went in with very low hopes and expectations And this 2 and a half hour horror experience blew me away.. at least compared to what I was expecting.. Here you play as a man whos made a mistake and lost his love… she haunts you like a ghost as you journey through this lonely feeling but at the same time lively creepy world… you feel uneasy throughout, this is only increased by the furry red light district you find yourself in towards the middle of the game.. this is a lot of just figurignout where youre supposed to be going, making choices…finding pictures to listen to dialog, strange notes that still have me confused.. all leading up to a choice at the end that I wont spoil… but im so happy I went back to give this game a chance.. Theres not much here ggameplay wise.. you have a flashlight.. there are these skull headed demon creatures crawling around that you have to avoid… but even they hardly offer elements of gameplay.. dying by them will just take you to the nearest door to come out of and whatever it was that killed you is dead.. this isn’t a critique.. I actually sortve enjoyed how the game doesn’t force you to repeat moments you fail… the game just goes on… this is such an unsettling experience.. I could only imagine what its like to play through in vr.. if youre a horror fan in anyway pick this one up… right now you have even more reason to…its free I give Here They Lie a 6.5/10

I got this free on PSPlus. I played for maybe 10 minutes, during which there were a couple of decently scary things, but no hint at all as to what the game was about or what I was supposed to be doing. And it's very very slow. I don't demand a lot of action from games, but I do demand at least some action or some story. I decided the best move was to press the PS button.
