The differences from the original game put me off a bit initially, but the more I played, the more I grew to like what this sequel does. Luminous Avenger iX 2 may not be the new apeX of 2D action, but it's still worth a look if this kind of game interests you. [Issue #59 – May/June 2022, p. 25]

While the plot is hardly worth praising and is too predominant throughout the game, the frantic action in the boss fights and the game's visually appealing presentation, together with captivating gameplay mechanics make Luminous Avenger iX 2 something that fans of the original game and of the Mega Man X series will definitely enjoy.

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 does so much right. It’s gorgeous, it’s fun, and it sounds awesome. It has a lot to offer for fans of classic 2D action platformers with engagement to be found in both its story and gameplay. Not without its faults, Luminous Avenger iX 2 hides its true ending behind an overly punishing hard mode and hides fun mechanics behind a DLC paywall which leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Though with that said, the game still manages to be a funhouse of bullets and chainsaws.

Well, what's better than control iX? I love the days when I play the series Megaman X and the rest of them. But iX is total a different experience, he make me fell like I'm is the best

I dunno what's with every Review Site giving this game more than 5. This game is a mere cash-grab operation, YOU LITERALLY CANNOT DIE! Yes you can heal from 1% Hp to 100% EVERY TIME YOU WANT!! What's the meaning behind this? Also the game starts with a Warp-hole to another dimension without any reason and you just start killing enemies till the last boss, without a single reason or any story depth, and then after you kill the last boss the Warphole appears again, you return to your world and the game finished like that. and they had the courage to add even DLCs to this mere speculation of game! Worst $20 spent in my life.

I loved the first one and because of that this one takes a little getting used to, as Copen controls a little different. So there's a minor learning curve if you're a fan of the original avenger. Other than that, it's a perfect action platformer added to the Azure Striker roster. What the review below is complaining about has to do with the Kudos system in the game..everytime you heal, you lose all your Kudos. So if you're hunting for highscore, you shouldn't use lola's heal power.

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 continues to deliver the 2D platforming action that players demand. The new focus on melee combat coupled with ariel dashes breaths new life into Copen’s growing arsenal. Further, I thought the narrative, characters, and bosses made this entry just as endearing as the previous, and the interaction with the environments made each stage fun to explore. I can’t wait to go on future adventures with Copen and friends.

A great sequel to the Gunvolt 2019's game. Gunvolt Chronicles Luminous Avenger iX 2 is perfect for every Mega Man Zero's fan, and a amazing treat for the wait until Azure Strikes Gunvolt 3 is ready.

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 presents some elements that made the first installment to our liking but with some changes that made the experience more challenging but less dynamic. The new changes won't bode well with everyone.

There’s a lot of minor gameplay features for players to explore and try out, but even just fighting through the stages and bosses is satisfying enough on its own. If you’ve ever played a Gunvolt game of any kind, this is a fairly good one of those, even if you’re likely to forget about it after putting it away. Not every game needs to be memorable to be a worthwhile experience, though. If you’re looking for an action-heavy palette cleanser with some kicking visuals and solid gameplay, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 would make a strong addition to your Switch library.

Ultimately, Luminous Avenger iX 2 is an attractive and challenging action platformer that nevertheless fails to learn key lessons from the previous game. That said, if you’re a fan of the Gunvolt series or a platformer enthusiast, this is very much your game. If you’re not in that camp, you might wanna skip this confusing side adventure.

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 is far from a groundbreaking game, but it certainly is an enjoyable one. The tightly designed levels and snappy controls make for a thoroughly enjoyable action side-scrolling experience, though this comes with the major caveat that the whole experience is really only a few hours long and it's very much more of the same. At any rate, we’d give this one a strong recommendation to any fans of the Gunvolt series or run-and-gun games in general; there may not be much of it, but Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 absolutely nails what it sets out to do.
