Overall, Autosport does things well enough and offers a decent compromise of customization versus accessibility without going off the deep end for serious gearheads the way Gran Turismo does.

They wanted to excel in everything and ended up excelling in nothing. The series is eating its own tailpipe and needs to be put down - ideally to make room for TOCA. [Issue#244]

Just as in GRID 2, gloom of single player races diluted by adrenaline of online modes. They offer not only the same five career disciplines, but also essential management, easy tuning, leveling and weekly competitions on the RaceNet site. [September 2014, p. 62]

it's unbelievable how boring this game is, there's nothing interesting to do.

Okay, GRID Autosport is a mixed bag of good and bad.First of all, the game is too long and I never thought I would say this about a title of this genre because they are usually too **** career mode consists of five disciplines you have to do in order to reach the GRID championships : Street, Tuner, Touring, Open Wheel and Endurance. Started off with Street where you drive factory line cars on tracks such as Paris and Barcelona, both featured in GRID 2.Each of those disciplines has a good amount of championships to beat, with each having between two to like ten events. Events are consisted of one or several races. Now, this is where the problems start that make the career mode a chore to go through. A lot of those races inside the events are the exact same track with the exact same number of laps and not reversed, so basically it feels like having to restart a race. Added to that, you have an crazy number of them to complete before reaching the final championship of each discipline. I have not completed this game yet, only beat Street and Open Wheel with Touring currently underway but I am losing patience.Open Wheel has like 45, 46 races in total and after I asked ChatGPT to tell me how many career events there were in GRID 2, minus car challenges and promo events, there were 42... So Open Wheel alone is like beating the GRID 2 career mode, which is absolutely over the top and absurd. Sure, you do not have to go though every single championship since you need to reach EXP LVL 3 in each discipline to unlock the GRID championships, but if you are someone who loves reaching the endgame, you are looking at over 150h so good luck with that.Another thing is not being able to have your own team but only sign contracts and drive the same freaking cars instead of the option to use the entire car roster of the game, which is locked behind extra championships, custom events and online. Also, your team mates are pretty much useless, unless you ride with Ravenwest, where you have your team mate nearly always on the podium. The handling is okay.

Places the emphasis back on racing over contrived storylines - and leaves its peers eating its dust in the process. [Aug 2014, p.88]

Ultimately though, GRID Autosport is a consistently satisfying, intense and rewarding game, one that I can’t wait to continue playing.

As you may know, I am one of the most experienced players in the world of Grid Autosport. Which is even BETTER than Race Driver GRID, and GRID 2. I can do long endurance races online and increase the XP for all my cars to max out the performance. Yeah! This is the best Codemasters racing game ever. Since I got it in November 2014.

GRID Autosport combines interesting cars, entertaining tracks, excellent AI, and a quality handling engine to deliver a terrific racing experience. Unfortunately its career mode lacks depth and isn't particularly engaging.

Codemasters is definitely moving in the right direction, but this franchise still has a few more mile markers to pass before it escapes from the shadow of the outstanding entry that got it off the starting line.

GRID Autosport is a quality production, as you would expect from Codemasters when developing a racing game. It's just difficult to see the relevance of this game on console, when there are so many next gen racing games on the way.

Best racing game in a long time; physics, AI, sounds, graphics, SFX and track atmosphere are all top notch. If you are looking for a careless arcade cruiser then buy NFS, but if you are looking for the best racing experience on PS3/ 360 then don't doubt any longer and pick up this game!

My main complaint about the game is that it feels like I have no purpose in this game the Career is a Glorified Quick race mode what's the point of playing the career when you already have all cars and tracks unlocked? there's no sense of progression for me there's no reward or motive for you to boot the game because all your achievements are meaningless when I was playing this game I constantly got the feeling that I'm wasting my time because there nothing else of interest in this game then to race, yes the main aspect of racing games is "racing" but there are other factors too that make the game more interesting like progression and a career which adds a sense of exploration and freshness for the player as he/she unlocks more cars and tracks and a career rewards the player for spending time in the game and adds a sense of achievement and satisfaction for the player, which is a concept this game lacks.
