This is a game that can absorb your time if you let it but it’s easy to jump in and play as well, I believe Gods Will Fall has delivered on its promise and then some, and in doing so has claimed its own individual spot in the market, a game truly like no other. I will definitely enjoy the Platinum hunt for this one.

Gods Will Fall tries to formulate a dungeon crawler based on the principles of Roguelikes and Soulslike. Although the idea is good, both narrative and gameplay, some fundamental elements of the genre don't quite hit the mark, leaving Clever Beans a few notches lower than what it could be. Many of the problems can be resolved with some patches and by adding new content, which would certainly improve the experience. We'll be waiting, but for now, you can't help getting the feeling of an opportunity missed.

Challenging the gods in Gods Will Fall is attractive at first, but its mechanics and game modes mean that, even with its random elements, it ends up being a repetitive and unappealing experience to be played more than once. Level design is beautiful and worthy of contemplation, although once you defeat the boss of the level you will not want to return again. A somewhat disposable game that only a specific niche will enjoy.

I think that, for what this game depicts, it does it well. It would seem to me that if it's thought of as a rogue on steroids, it might be received a bit better overall. I submit an old Android fave as one example this title makes me think about: Pixel Dungeon. I have been playing PD for as long as I can remember, and the "element of the unknown" is just as present in GWF as it STILL is in PD. I enjoy the challenge of using what's randomly found, and the weapon rewards is sufficient to keep me wanting to push to the next boss domain with the upgraded items. A 3 tier weapon coupled with a warrior with strong stats gives you hope towards the next boss' minion attack and of course, the boss itself. If the Switche's version didn't have the bug-laden boss domain CRASH, this title would be my current ultimate rogue go to! Very disappointing to have a strong character get one-shotted by an uncontrollable game bug/glitch, but that very bad condition just makes me even more determined, though I end up having to create several profiles in a sort of Russian Roulette gamble. Not something one should have to do. For those complaining about enemies able to spam multiple hits, that's all a part of this genre. Sometimes you'll be able to have a permanent skill added to a warrior that will greatly assist in future battles. This game has tactical aspects as well, but it's all the collective randomness that makes it compelling to pick it back up.

The dungeons are bland and it takes forever to move through them. There is not a good loot or equipment system. Story irrelevant. Combat is trash. Too much trial and error and luck involved. I tried to request a refund but I didn't qualify. I'm tired of all these professional glowing reviews for games that just ****. Like these professionals are handing out participation trophies. "Hey, you made a game so we give you an 80" ----- Trash.

While it has some positive elements that may still make it worth checking out, Gods Will Fall's procedurally generated difficulty hurts itself more than it really helps in the long run.

Gods Will Fall's approach is really good (and very original, within its genre), but it falls on deaf ears due to too repetitive mechanics. If you are patient you will be able to enjoy it ... Otherwise, these are not your gods.

Gods Will Fall bring some interesting idea to the roguelike genre; however, it’s too easy, and the lack of difficulty and technical issues make it harder to enjoy.

Gods Will Fall follows an interesting path, but the battle system is botched, the world loses its' fascination too soon and thus the compulsive repition gets frustrating.

Games built entirely around boss battles can be great. Furi is popular for a reason. Gods Will Fall might have been better served if that was the route they went. Instead, it’s bogged down with levels that, while artistically solid, weigh on the entire experience. There’s one group of folks that should check this out: students of game design. This is not along the lines of “ha ha, this game sucks so bad everybody should see it.” This isn’t Ride to Hell: Retribution. Instead, people much smarter than this reviewer will be able to thoughtfully debate and discuss what didn’t work, why certain things didn’t work, and learn from this. God Will Fall is mostly tedious, but it comes from an honest place with real effort. Clever Beans has the talent and potential to create a fantastic title. Their first swing, though, isn’t it.
