This game is really a masterpiece for everyone who owns the Aim Gun for the PlayStation. Only few games use the gun so great and accurate. Sadly, the story of the game starts great but ends boring. Otherwise it could have been a ten out of ten. I really cannot understand why they did not make sequel.

Decent game & has the bonus of using the gun. Not a classic but worth playing

The best PS VR game I have played so far. I wish I had played with the aim controller, I hope the PS VR 2 will have equally good games. Fantastic use of weapons, interesting story in the background, amazing second part of the game. It's worth a game.

It is a great sci-fi shooter exclusively for VR and makes a lot of fun when playing with the aim controller. Personally I miss to see more and better cutscenes with a deeper story. The story feels unsurrounded and the levels isolated. Also the immersion is not fully optimized for what it could possible, depending mostly on game and level design. When I did not know that this game was made exclusively for VR I would bet that this is just a mod of a non-VR shooter. And that is the point, where I see some potential which was not unlocked of this game. All in all it is still a really good VR game, they simply miss to harvest some of the low hanging fruits.

Amazing game! I'd definitely recommend if you have a PSVR and Aim Controller. Wouldn't give it a 10 because it has some slight issues, the story takes a bit to get some pace (but later on becomes really cool) and it could be improved in some minor graphical and controller related matters, but there are way more positives then negatives. Give this a chance! Also, don't pay attention to the critic reviews, the score went a lower than it should because most of them compare this to a non-VR FPS, which is totally unfair and a complete different experience.

Perfect playability with aim, It the next level in shooting games. Good variaty of kinds of enemies and weapons. Good graphics with a interesting story (it is improveable but very well). It is a completaly new experience, you have to try It.

The hour-long unskippable cutscene at the beginning of the game, as well as really not interesting cutscenes throughout the campaign, ruin the experience. Shooting is ok, sniper rifle has no scope

Simply put, future of shooter is now and Farpoint has done a great job guiding future developers in how to build a high quality FPS VR experience, Flat gaming is overly saturated, VR needs to become the priority for the whole gaming industry, this game is awesome. I can’t wait for next gen psvr to come out , and the one after that one.

PSVR AIM CONTROLLER IS A MUST for this game. This is one of the best games period for the PSVR. The story is interesting, and it doesn't make you motion sick.

Wow. Just wow. First off, get an aim controller. If you're planning on playing this with a gamepad, just don't buy the game until you purchase an aim. The immersion with the aim controller is simply amazing. Graphics are nothing special and break the immersion somewhat. However, walking through a dark cave, hearing spiders scurry about to your right, reaching into your backpack for a shotgun and then blowing them to hell only to be confronted by a 10 foot tall giant spider with armor charging after you is just an amazing (and horrifying) experience. If you have PSVR and an aim controller, cannot recommend this experience enough. SO much fun. This is what VR is about.

This is a good game and it has improved over time with the addition of multiplayer. First game to make use of the aim controller which is incredible. Do not play this game without it. Co-op is fun and usually there are people still playing it.

Great game and incredible introduction to the immersive experience VR brings. Walking on an alien planet and firing my weapon in every direction I looked towards was really fun. My gripes however would be that the difficulty would ramp up dramatically during certain sequences in the game and sometimes the graphics rendering wouldn't hold up. I also felt it was quite short. Definitely one to add to your PSVR library though!

The prime example where a game is only "good" in VR but personally, it was still boring with the headset on and even worse if this game was not a VR game. To me, the movement and camera was awkward- i didn't like it in Skyrim, i don't like it here. Playing the game standing feels like you'll moving on a conveyor belt. I just don't think VR games will work for open world games. It will probably benefit best with arcade type games where the game moves for you to proceed to the next stage. The graphics aren't great as it was hyped to be. The images have less depth than in Skyrim and often it feels like you're just staring at a poster. Now the part i should have mentioned first is the game play. The game play is slow and boring. The monsters are simple and not interesting to fight. It just feels like you're shooting at a non-responsive bot because they don't have mechanics to retaliate. Most of the time you're just walking around, scanning images to discover the story. Although i heard the story gets good, but doesn't end well, the game play was just unbearable. This game fails to be an "experience" like Batman VR. it puts you in a world that seems fascinating but is dull after several minutes. It uses the VR as a gimmick and the game play is shallow. I would like to rate this higher but i don't want other people to spend their money expecting something more. Go play Astrobot, Moss, I Expect You To Die, heck even London Heist and the diving simulator from VR Worlds was a better experience and well worth the money

I was not expecting a lot out of this game when I first tried it at a friends house. It seemed like it was a quick forgettable title. I was very wrong. You quickly get lost in the game going through the world and exploring a bit, though I wish the areas had a bit more to explore. Game play is pretty fun, and in some areas you can get overwhelmed by enemies if you aren't careful or aren't switching weapons. Some of the boss fights especially can get difficult. There are quite a few areas though that seem sparse. Once you learn where some of the enemies come from, as in what type of terrain features, you can quickly learn to expect them and shoot before they've had a chance to do anything. The length was pretty decent. I didn't have my VR legs yet on the first couple play through sessions, so it ended up taking me around a week of gradually longer play times to beat it. I kind of wish it was a bit longer, but compared to many of the other VR titles, it is long. The graphics were pretty good and the UI was pretty solid as well. I liked the story and finding bits of it to complete and move the story on the way was a nice touch. Movement was pretty well done with the aim controller. I never really had any moments where I was fumbling and everything was explained and laid out well enough of the aim to make sense and be easily usable in more active situations. I gave it 8 because I wish it was a bit longer, I ran into many spots of sparse enemies which combined with being hallway shooter (semi confined space and can't really explore a whole lot) made the game feel even shorter. However I do feel like the game is one you definitely should pick up.

Absolutely amazing. High replay value. The story is short but the game really just starts after you finish the story. You truly have to master your shooting skills with the AIM controller (do not play without buying the AIM controller (PSVR gun) ) to get 3 stars in all missions. And they added free DLC with more challenges, more co-op missions and PvP battles online. As one of the first VR games with the AIM controller, it is amazing that it already feels so natural and perfect. You mist look beyond the short story and see what an absolute experience it is, to be able to actual increase your aiming skills with a gun-controller.

Farpoint is the high water mark for FPS VR games. The aim controller is outstanding. The campaign is interesting and has a lot of variety. The co-op mode is the best of PSVR. And if you want a really challenge there is the Challenge mode.

The new gun mechanic worked extremely well, and the game was mostly fun to play. But I found the story to be extremely dull, and the game started to feel a lot more repetitive towards the end.

Uninspired game design, very repetitive enemies/generic gameplay, and drab visuals make this an over-rated PSVR experience after a year and a half of PSVR being out.

This is exactly what I want from psvr games, amazing story, great gameplay, challege modes with weapon upgrades to keep the fun going along with multiplayer pvp and co op. it may be a bit pricey with aim controller but I would say this is a need to own psvr games and is as essential to psvr as halo was for the original xbox. Pros - great story, great gameplay, amazing use of psvr Cons - ending was iffy and it feels like there could have been another 2 chapters at the end to flesh out what happens and give us a second boss fight. 10/10

+Aim controller is perfectly matched to suit the gameplay +Great visuals +Engaging story +Excellent soundscape -Gameplay repeats over long sessions of play Assuredly feels like a playable cross between starship troopers and star trek voyager. The weapons feel fantastic to fire! A pleasing volume of cutscenes serve as rewards for long bouts of arcade shoot-em-up throughout this 5 hour adventure. A solid shooter fans of sci-fi action.

Graphics: 8.0 Sound: 8.0 Gameplay: 7.5 Fun/Story: 7.0 A good VR game/shooter specially with the PSVR aim controller. It has some story failures and lacks of more variety of levels and enemies. Overall a consistent VR game.

Farpoint is a great game to play with the aim controller. It's the first game I played co op in vr and love it. The friend I played with stayed silent the whole time which ruined the experience a little, but it was very cool. The gun vibrates convincingly too, which is a nice touch. If you have the spare change, it's highly recommended, especially with the aim controller, as it's heavily discounted in that bundle, and the peripheral will be supported further down the line.

Well, Farpoint is a top tier PSVR game and definitely the best VR shooting game so far. If you can have only one game for PSVR, choose farpoint. 1) Play it with the aim control! Playing with duo controller is far less interesting. The game requires you align the rifle sight for aiming 2) The story is about 5 hours with a certain challenge but only one boss fight 3) The boss is huge and astonishing. So it's even. 4) The story is at least above average. Not bad at all 5) The feel of shooting aliens with aim control is excellent in this game, due to the sound effect, gun details and etc. 6) There are 5 guns in this game, each one of them is unique and quite useful, (Infinite ammo) 7) The replay-ability is high because its challenge mode and coop. Not mention a 9~10/10 difficult platinum

Well that's it: flat "shooters" are no longer shooters, because you don't actually aim and shoot like you do in Farpoint with the Aim controller. From now on I'll be calling flat shooters "Crosshair Management Sims" instead. :) Farpoint is the kind of game I've wanted ever since the FPS genre was invented, and man does it deliver. Aim, shoot, one-hand shotgun to the side, duck, spin, aim down sights, hip fire, run one way while looking another while shooting in a **** gun-high-five your co-op buddy when the dust settles. This kind of gameplay has simply never been possible before on a gaming console. Ever. Ever. End of story. Oh wait, the story! My goodness, the story is way more amazing than I expected. Dark, touching, thought-provoking. A stunning example of what characters and narrative in VR can be. I am still vaguely haunted by one scene eye-to-eye with a life-sized character. Farpoint sets a new bar for PSVR and for shooters in general. All things are possible after this. Get it, get an Aim, and enjoy.

The critics are reviewing a car vs a motorcycle. Yes, the car is more comfy, it's safer, you can listen to radio, you can transport more people and do youre shoppings. All things a motorcycle can't.... But a motorcycle, even a cheap simple one, gives me complete different emotions, fun and enjoyment, that a car simply can't deliver! For the game itself, all other reviewer's already pointed out what a blast it is in vr and what potential it shows for future vr games. Dreaming of a sniper game or rainbow six coop..... *drool*

I'm giving the game an 10 but it is more of a 9 This is a must own game for if you have the VR. The graphics, while grainy, are pretty high up for the VR. The world is detailed and you truly feel like you are the one on a distant planet. One peeve I have is I wish the worlds were a bit more interactive.Best vr game to date.period.

Wow, well done. Consider this is a first real VR first-persion shooter with many awesome features. When I was playing Farpoint for the first time, I felt like playing Doom for the first time back in 1993. It may have its drawbacks but overall it creates a 10 out of 10 experience. Just make these cutscene skip-able ;) Update: End of May 2017, they have released a patch that made the game more precise and the overall experience even better. Great work!

This is a great VR game, especially with the new aim controller. If Sony keeps providing support (i.e. new maps) for this title, I can see myself playing this game for months to come. Comparing this game to conventional shooters is a mistake. This is a VR game, and it should be compared to other VR games, and in that sense it is a 10/10. The best thing about this game is that it proves that PSVR has the potential to become a real gaming platform that offers an experience deeper and more engaging than regular games.

If this game was a regular 2d tv fps this would be a lazy boring fps. not enough guns, not enough interesting event happening in the world. But when you are standing up with a VR headset and holding this gun in your hand (Aim Controller) its just explainable. As big fan of the old Halo games im actually feeling like a spartan when im playing Farpoint! it doesn't matter that the game play is kinda empty, when you are standing behind a wall taking cover from aliens fire power, or standing back to back with your friend defending your ground from incoming crawlers, its just a dream come true! This is no doubt the best VR experience that has ever existed! if you own a VR headset you MUST BUY THIS! this is just so god damn amazing! the campign it self takes this game to the top vr game, but the real fun begins at coop! Though the missions are kinda short and few, i can just keep on playing them over and over and over trying to complete the highest difficulty levels. Its just so amazingly fun to run around with your gun!. That is like the biggest point here, RUN! you cannot compare this game to any other one spot standing or teleporting vr shooters out there, its when you can actuly run around and take cover behind different objects the true fun begins! For the time being, i would give this 11/10 because right now, there is just nothing that can compare with this! but there are definitely room for improvements! Here is a list of things i wish will come in the next VR shooter with the Aim Controller: More Enviroments (Not just desert and rocks everywhere) More weapons Granades (if that is possible somehow?) More than 2 player coop pvp multiplayer vehicle riding (Like sitting in a helicopter shooting down at enemies Here is a list of things i dont like in Farpoint: Unlimited ammo No proggression To short coop mission No story or objective in coop missions No reloading on the assault riffle?

Started out very strong, but lost a lot of good will by the end. This game is supported entirely by it's strong shooting, as it does feel very good to shoot stuff. However, the game shows you all the best stuff within the first act (about the first 2 hours of the 6 hour campaign). The best guns by far are the assault rifle and shotgun, the first two weapons you get. The most fun enemies to fight are the Starship Trooper-esque giant spiders, which are replaced by robots and green alien men for the second and third acts. The story is pretty good throughout the first two acts, but stapled a third act on that added nothing to the story but made it much more confusing. And the greatest sin is that the game just ends, with no resolution. You fight through a bunch of regular enemies (some of whom get insta-kill attacks towards the end), watch a cutscene that explains nothing and makes you furious at the characters, and roll credits. I really loved this game, but it should have ended at the end of the second act, it feels like they stapled an extra 2 hours onto the game, and dramatically harmed the overall experience in doing so. The aim controller is awesome, but this game will be completely forgotten once another big shooter is released. As is, I'd give it a 7:passable. HOWEVER, if this game was released without the VR stuff, as a 2d game played with the DS4, it would be a 3.

Farpoint is an excellent game with an amazing gun. The adventure is over all to quickly, but its a blast while it lasts. The story for the game is actually quite good. Frequently reviewed as dull or generic, its actually excellent. The game's single player mode is quite long for VR, but short compared to any non-VR game. The gun is what makes this game a truly unique experience. There is nothing quite like actually looking down the sights of the gun lining up your shots. The gun is an amazing device that will be compatible with at least a few upcoming games. Replay-ability is brought up with the inclusion of co-op mode, just be aware its co-op, not deathmatch. Its fun playing with other people, but there are things missing here that normal games have standard now a day. Namely, unlockables! What multiplayer shooter has nothing to work towards? There are no new characters, guns, skins or anything to unlock. There is just a leaderboard. Its better than nothing, and it is quite fun, when it works, but for me after attempting 30 online matches I was booted, dropped, disconnected from 28 of them. Over 2 nights I managed to complete 2 online games. Be aware of these issues, go in knowing what the game is. You are there for a good time, but not a long time.

Jesus Christ, how the Sony fanboy drones are overrating this because it is on PSVR. Sorry guys but this is not unique. There are tens of VR first person shooters on PC and there have been for years, with the same kind of controllers and a VR experience in a much better resolution than the very poor PSVR goggles. About the game: I completed it and it was a less-than-okay experience. You have to get used to low-res PSVR at first, at least you do when you use VR on PC a lot, but when you do the gunplay becomes more exciting. That magic will pass after two hours, though, and then you realize that you're just playing another very poor and truly generic first person shooter game. It's literally walking from point A to B in a narrow lineair path while shooting at stuff. It's so generic that it almost felt insulting, it lasts 5 hours (!!) and it costs near full price (!!!!!). It'd be rewarded with 3's all across the board had it been released on anything else. For me, a controller that's the same as the one I've been using for years on PC (the PP Gun for Vive, which is even better actually and truly looks/feels like an actual gun) and the PSVR headset which is just worse than my Vive do not improve upon the experience. They do not make it unique because it isn't and for me, some average VR-peripherals do not magically turn a 3-game into a 8.5-game. It does make it a bit better, so I will let this get away with a 4, but that's already pushing this garbage. Sorry, sonyponies.

The good points: Something to actually do with VR which is fun enough. For shooter lovers who like a little challenge, enjoyable. The bad points: Completely straight line... no left, no right. The worst point: Basically no way to save anywhere between levels. I played an hour and reached the 2nd boss. Got a bit VR wonky. Come back on later and I am at the start of the level again. This is sloppy programming at best.

Review based on PS4 Pro experience, I feel the critics have been a bit unfair on this one. Farpoint offers something totally new in immersion and wildly blasting spiders both small and giant with a reasonable selection of guns is loads of fun with the aim controller, which I have to say is the star of the show. I got about 8 hours play out of it and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Ps you can also turn the Aim on you and headshot yourself.... 9/10 for the game 10/10 for the Aim.

Quite a good PSVR game, but frankly not that immersive. If you want something really immersive, go try Windlands. In Farpoint you can only slowly walk, you cannot run, you cannot even jump!! So frustrating. No exploration at all, the game is linear. However, I must say the VR gun experience is very good. Switching between short-range and long-range guns is amazing, pacing firing and getting under cover for gun reload, looking in the gun's visor to shoot remote targets. In a few words: this is one of the best PSVR games yet, but not the best frankly. Try Windlands for a breathtaking VR locomotion experience!

After looking at the critical score I was not expecting much. Only two levels in and my expectations where absolutely crushed. I feel that the bad reviews are coming from people who get sick using VR (if this effects you then this game will be hell) but that doesnt accurately reflect the quality of the actual gameplay. The gameplay is above average. I was not expecting the level of depth that was delivered (its not insanely deep but it is certainly nowhere near being a tech demo or feeling unfinished) The VR is what makes this game breathtaking. The 1 to 1 tracking on the aim controller is flawless once you are all set up and all the nuanced gameplay mechanics like switching weapons and aiming down the sites feel perfect. This is the best game on PSVR, and that is including Resident Evil 7

Is this game the best FPS out there? NO Is this game the longest game out there? NO. Does this game have the best story? NO. Does it have the best Graphics? NO. Should you play it? ABSOLUTELY! Embark on a epic quest to save your companions while stranded on a hostile alien planet. Shoot your way through hordes of enemies that vary as you move forward throughout the campaign. You'll find out that while the story is a bit cliche and that certain limitations that had to be placed to avoid motion sickness would make this at best a very mediocre REGULAR FPS game, the fact that it is in VR (and with a great AIM controller) makes it worth while. The gunplay is meaty and feels on point. The movement is smooth and I haven't experienced any motion sickness. I can accept the criticisms of some of the serious reviews, but the users that are scoring it with a 0 are totally wrong. (one of them gives it a 0 just because he is an Xbox guy - just look at his other reviews). Zeroes should only exist for absolute broken games. I invite everyone that actually HAS a PSVR to give it a try. Now, if you excuse me, I'm off to shoot some alien spiders in the face.

I'm giving the game an 8, but it is more of a 7.6-7.8. This is a must own game for if you have the VR. The graphics, while grainy, are pretty high up for the VR. The world is detailed and you truly feel like you are the one on a distant planet. One peeve I have is I wish the worlds were a bit more interactive. They are about a interactive as your average PS1 game in that you can only work with what's part of the story. Speaking of the story, its short. Unfortunately short. Not very deep or detailed either. You can look at the back of the box and decipher the story pretty much from that. Shooting in this game is truly realistic. Not only do you have to actually align your sights with what you are shooting at, but the spray of the guns can be sporadic as well (just like a real gun). Unlike the heroes in most 1st person shooter video games, you actually have to put your arms up yourself and trust me, its a workout (no wonder Duke Nukem, the Doom guy, and Blazkowicz have huge arms). The enemies are cut and paste and eventually you do get the hang of their patterns, but it is what it is. I've yet to really try the multiplayer experience, but I am very much looking forward to it. Dings on the game are for a superficial and short story and lack of customization and variation. Its a point A to point B game, but it is truly a blast. This biggest problem with the game has less to do with the game and more to due with the price tag. Yes you can play the game with the dual shock controller successfully, but this game was truly designed for VR aim controller. Being that I didn't buy the game yet, I have to pay for the controller separately which is a pretty penny. I think they could have bundled the items together better rather than the current $80 package they have going right now. For a discount, I may consider it, but for now, its quite the cash grab (especially considering how much you already pay for the VR itself). Hopefully this game has some DLC and more features in the future because it is pretty bare-bones right now. I had been playing Eve:Valkyrie for awhile, but this is the game I was really waiting for with the VR. You shouldn't compare it to games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, or Destiny because it is not those games. However, there is still a large amount of untapped potential with this game and that's the real pull for it. Hopefully they continue to fill the empty spaces with content because the game in itself is a blast to play.

Signed up for a Metacritic account solely so I could review this. Both a technical wonder and an amazing experience. I don't know how Impulse Gear have done this. I only care that they have. Yeah, in 18 months time, it'll probably look a bit first-gen, but who cares about that right now. ATM, it's the absolute bomb and a total (bug) blast . Pro reviewers (by and large) should hang their heads in shame (esp. Simon Parkin at The Guardian).

It looks like Farpoint is the system seller PSVR owners have been waiting for. It is the best looking game on offer for PSVR to date and besides looking good it actually is a fully fledged game; not just another add on, showcase or tech demo. Even better than that the game is FUN to play and keeps me coming back for more. I have been playing for many hours over the past weekend and am happy to report that I have experienced no motion sickness what so ever. The only type of motion that I miss is the ability to jump; which probably was left out because that would increase the chance of motion sickness.. The aim controller makes the experience complete; I strongly suggest playing the game with the aim instead of a DS4. The co-op is also fun to do but because there are not that many players out there it can sometimes take a while before a partner is found. IMO this game is a must buy for all PSVR owners.

Game changer for VR. I already played quite some games on PSVR, but this one nails it to my opinion. It is easy to see what future improvements thare can be to the game and to the VR technology. But in the here and now, this is absolutely amazing. Buy it.

It's really sad how unprofessional some of the reviews this is getting are.. This is easily one of the best experiences I've ever had in VR and it stands on its own feet being played with the fantastic Aim Controller...just comparing it to other non-VR shooters is amateurish and simply wrong... Guys, if you do. own a PSVR this is a must-buy...just make sure you buy the bundle as it surely lacks without the great controller. Would give it an 8.5 but rate it a 10 to counter the VR-haters and XBots.
