Fallout 76 is a bit complicated. On one hand, the graphics look like they’re from the PS3 era, it had major issues at launch, and there were no NPCs until they were added in later DLCs. Even the story was mediocre at first. However, the game is—and always has been—engaging enough for me to put in about 300 hours. The sheer fun of getting Power Armor, the feeling of becoming a walking tank once you’re in it, and the combat itself are so satisfying that I keep coming back. In my opinion, it’s one of those games where it’s great to return for a month or two after taking a six-month break.

6.2 - Fallout 76 takes a bold step into multiplayer, offering a vast Appalachian wasteland to explore with others. Its world design and environmental storytelling are strong, but the lack of meaningful NPC interaction at launch hurt immersion. While updates have improved content and stability, repetitive gameplay and technical issues hold it back from reaching the heights of earlier entries.

Its a descent game now, its how it should be from the start.
Its an okey game, its not amazing not terrible.
I play it mostly single and some missions are interesting (the laters ones) While others feel more weak because they follow the early design of Fallout 76. Specially the one that you should follow the overseer, even if reworked feels very early fallout 76

WORST FALLOUT GAME TO DATE!!!!! This game is terrible after the first five minutes of play time. There is no immersion into the world of fallout if there is just a bunch of player running around building camps in the middle of roads. First no npc’s(they did fix that). this game is just a cash grab. They just want to make money from selling skins and then make half baked DLC with terrible writing and no real plot. Fallout first subscribers are just idiots

In Late 2025 this game is surprisingly addicting, as a late game character, seeing a cool path for my building and grinding for it is fun! This game still lacks a good story of any kind but is fun to mindlessly grind.

TL;DR: It's buggy and greedy, like everything these days, but it is a Fallout mmo way more than ESO is an ES mmo. If you're into FO at all, it's worth a try. Especially since it's free to try for 2hrs or even more with gamepass. Just be ready to facepalm because of the design decisions. Often. No, more often than that. You have no idea until it's too late. Ok here goes... kind of hard for me to do a review of the game. Conflicted. I can not recommend this though, because of the utterly ridiculous way the endgame has been designed, and even more so the building and especially the UI. Just incredibly horrible design decisions, and basically nothing else. Everything is done wrong with this game. Even using Steam overlay manages to mess up the key binds somehow half the time it is used. Remedied easily by opening and closing overlay again, but still.. man, what a talentless trash coder lot. And the way they try to force you to play daily is just rubbing me 1000% the wrong way. All it manages in the end is driving hardcore gamers away. Myself now, and before me half a dozen clanmates who got fed up in a couple of months with the endgame. They have tried to make it so people would play this daily or close to it and throughout the years, but the way they chose to implement it all is actually having the exact opposite effect. Speaking especially of in the long run. Bunch of hacks over at Beth. Graphics are kind of ok. Or at least were when the game released... colors are nice and color reflections are nice but the game doesn't really have even proper shadows. Graphics engine is utter failure, heavy and prone to glitching and bugs. "Redone, from the ground up!" <--- whenever you hear a dev say that, you know it's going to be utter you know what. Sounds are poor for most parts, ambience and soundtrack are good but weapon sounds are totally meh and even after 1500 hrs there are still sound effects in the game that I have no idea why they pop. "Highly useful". "Great UI design". "Working as intended". "Bethesda". Gameplay, now that they have managed to actually include decent amount of content in the game (it took years though), is very good. Until you get to the point where basically all you have left are seasons. And seasons... the new format is so very, very bad. I hate, absolutely _hate_ how they made grinding from 100 to rank 150 a daily chore. Everyone thinks the game is bad and buggy because of the historically fail launch. Well it really isn't _that_ bad, there are a lot of things to do. Up to a point. Point which most will never reach because people these days tend to want insta-gratification. It's buggy as as a beehive though. Back in '22 when I started playing there were easily 5 times less bugs. I'd thought they'd try and fix those when the new map extension launched. But nope. They fixed maybe one bug. Bet you a hundred atoms they don't know how to. It's obvious this is Beth's effort at remaking the financial micro-transaction success that is GTA (can you even call these micro anymore? This stuff costs so much these days), and get on the gravy train. Not quite the way to succeed they had hoped. Now - _if_ they had fixed the game before the release of the TV series, it would probably have worked a whole lot better. But these days the greed of humankind is only surpassed by the idiocy of said species. So they failed at that, too. If you like Fallout, then it has it's moments. But I can not recommend this game because of the obviously painfully apparent greed and negligence in maintaining the game. I kind of love the game, but more often than is cool, I hate it more. Love/hate is not that peachy as it might sound. One last thing: Even the ingame microtransaction shop is done bad with false advertising all around, and even worse; even the things they sell for real money are buggy. I have been forced for a refund so many times because the item doesn't do what it is supposed to. But hey, just as well; the only thing the customer support has tools to deal with even, are atomic shop issues. Support is there mostly (or more truthfully, solely) to act as an extension to the ingame shop, that's the only thing they can do half properly; sell you stuff. No, not joking at all, or even exaggerating. You'll see if you get into it. Support serves only as an extension to the micro-transaction aspect. Welcome to the future, boys n gals... Also one of the worst designed things in the game that really drove me away for good even from logging in from time to time to see the shop in the end was the way they timegate items in the shop. At worst you have 24 hrs to buy what you want or you might never see it again. That is so incredibly hostile to player/customer and so extremely frustrating that it is easily safe to say that even though it's obvious they designed this to keep people in and spend money, it is actually having the exact opposite effect. The people deciding these things over at Beth are nothing short of talentless.

Ok to start and then you start to realize that you can’t play if you don’t pay… And buggs.. ffs it’s like 7 years it came out and they have not fixed bugs like doors won’t open.. have to relog to get the key card to read.. Store your power armor in your seriously limited storage space.. You can get more space and a place to put it if you only pay… Your armor breaks… Every armor needs ballistic fiber so ok spend a few hours finding that and hope you don’t get disease and have to spend a hour getting what you need to cure that… And guess what.. Your armor just broke again… So sad this game could have been really good but still after all this time is just a buggy cash grabb…

Fallout 76 appears visually appealing but proves boring and pointless, as even skilled guilds admit it’s only worthwhile for roleplaying, not as a true video game. With a competent guild, gameplay becomes a repetitive cycle of watching things get blown up and destroyed while collecting meaningless rewards, making it a mindless loot simulator.

Fallout is hands down my most cherished video game universe by far. I'm old enough to have played the first when it originally released so I have been a fan a long time. I even loved it when Bethesda took over with 3. That said I had absolutely no desire to play 76. I'm not a multiplayer or co-op kind of guy. It's just not what I am into. However, for the lore I did play it when it released on day one and Immediatelyput it back down not to touch it again. That was until I started hearing everyone sayin "It's so much better now!" So I started playing again. Admittedly it was a much better experience than my first foray. I even found my groove a bit. I got to level 72 before I finally had enough. All the jank is still there. Events constantly bugged as well as many of the raids. They didn't make it "So much better now!" by fixing this jank, they just added 300432 more fetch quests. I did one for this robot named Rose where Ihad to find like 5 key fragments. Took maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours and I think the best thing I got was a combat rifle. Seriously Fallout fans!? This is what you call "so much better now!"???? Raise your expectations guys, seriously! If you have been around as long as I have you deserve MUCH better than this. "So much better now!" My god **** god.......

Fallout 76 endgame stinks if you're in a faction that knows what they're doing. Also, Fallout 76 is way too easy and has no challenge to it whatsoever if you're in a faction that knows what they're doing. It's just mindlessly blowing up stuff or in a lot of cases watching stuff get blown **** watching it all get blown up with almost no effort whatsoever. Most factions who know what they're doing just have a roleplaying faction. I was actually in a really good faction and they took the game super super seriously and even they admitted Fallout 76 is only worth playing if you plan on roleplaying the hell out of the game. SCORE: 5/10 (It's a game. It's there. And it exists)

I’ve put ~ 350 hours into the game (level 250) and I thought I would compose this review for those who have played the single-player Fallout games, and are wondering if it’s worthwhile getting the online, multiplayer edition of the franchise: Fallout 76. When it was released in November of 2018, the game suffered from being given second-tier status by Bethesda, which split development between its Austin and Rockville studios, in order to prioritize development of ‘Starfield’ (that’s another story, as they say………). Bethesda eventually farmed ‘76 out to the UK firm Double Eleven studios, and over the remaining 6 years, Bethesda and Double Eleven have worked to improve the game, addressing bugs and gameplay defects and adding new packages of content. The ‘Wastelanders’ expansion, released in 2020, addressed a lot of the problems with the initial launch and brought many players who had soured on the game back into the fold. Mid-way thru 2025, there is a lot of new content in ’76, and it looks like a major bundle of additional missions, events, and items will be added at the year’s end. Fallout 76 is easy to join, but difficult to master. As a newby you’ll find lots to do. Because the game levels enemies to your level, you won’t be stuck in fights where your adversaries flatten you in just a few seconds (if you are level 10, your adversaries are level 10). You’ll have the ability to wander through large areas of the massive game world, doing things in your own way. If you want to avoid combat, you can, and focus on crafting, vending, completing fetch quests, **** sooner or later, newer players are going to notice veteran players (i.e., level 200, on up to > 10,000) bouncing around the game world in tricked-out power armor, with devastating weapons, harvesting all sorts of rare and powerful items, and feel a bit envious. And that’s when mastering the game comes in, and it takes a LOT of grinding to master things. Let me put it this way: if you thought collecting the Star Cores, so you could get the Quantum X-01 power armor, in the ‘Nuka World’ expansion for Fallout 4, well, you’re going to be doing that sort of grinding on a continuous basis in Fallout 76. There are a number of good things about Fallout 76. One is that there is a tremendous body of helpful information in the form of tips, hints, and guides, available online. You can find the answer to just about anything, from stuff posted by the player community. Also, the community is friendly; maybe 3% of the players are griefers. Veteran players will help out newbies, as they did for me when I was starting out. It’s worth your while to join some of the more high-level Events, even if you’re comparatively puny, and get a share of the rewards. This can help you level up faster and create alliances that make progressing go a lot easier. Finally, if you’re thinking of [really] getting into the game, playing it every other day or so, then give serious thought to purchasing the Fallout First membership. Yes, it’s another $13 per month, but it can make the game considerably easier in terms of minimizing resource micromanagement. All in all, Fallout 76 has overcome its disastrous launch, and when you can grab the PC game for only $10 from Steam, I recommend doing so. However, I would think twice about getting it for Xbox or Playstation; a lot of console users continue to report bugs and crashes.

After 60 hours in, I appreciate the community here, almost all players are super friendly, and enjoyed some of the stories and quests. That being said I don’t think I’ll stick around after this since I’d rather try other Fallout games.

this is a great game plagued with bugs and technical issues. first the graphics: it is by far one of the worst looking games ever, 2/10 in terms of graphics. second the optimization: how can a game so ugly run so bad? i rarely get 60 fps and it stutters even on ssd. god save you if you go to any towns or any building, youll see a drop in fps so big that you'd be better off watching reels between frames. 0/10 third the world: Appalachia is vast and full of life, it may look ugly but damn is it fun to explore. places are very well designed and there is a lot to see here. 9/10 fourth the gameplay: you have melee, pistols, rifles, combat rifles, laser pistols, laser rifles, gamma pistol, gamma rifles, fusion core powered weapons, alien blasters, and pipe weapons. there is definitely a huge variety of weapons. what about the actual shooting? well the shooting is decent, its not crazy but decent, you have VATS which is like an aimbot you can use to target specific areas of the enemies. overall its fun. 8/10 fifth the content: ok so what do you do in fallout 76? well you have a variety of options. first is the main storyline in which you can choose which faction you want to join. generally speaking, main story quests are very fun. the second is side quests, which are basically smaller stories you can follow like sofia's story. these are fun but dont have any relations with the main story. third is the dungeons and boss fights, these are made for multiplayer but you can do them solo no problem. here is where you will find the really strong monsters and giants, they are generally much harder than the base game and even have their own unique enemies. you have 2 types. the daily ops which is a mini dungeon you can clear on your own daily. and you have expeditions which are big dungeons in a completely new area that is semi open world, you can choose between the pitt or atlantic city. on top of that you can drop a nuke on the map and go there with special armor against radiation, the nuke will attract giant monsters and even spawn a huge raid boss that you can fight with friends. definitely the highlight of the game. 10/10 all and all if this game released without the technical issues and with a better engine, it would have been game of the year contender. but as it stands, its an amazing game held back by bugs.

I played Fallout 76 when it came out, unfortunately i was one of the People who pre-ordered, because i expected a good Fallout Game. I loved Fallout 3, it is still to this Day the Game, that i have played most. I wasnt a big Fan of Fallout 4, compared to Fallout 3 it had amazing Graphics, but offered less interactions or Things you could figure out. Fallout 76 was blend and had not much Content. Now they added NPC's but from what i saw, its not a big upgrade to the blend Base Game. It's not the worst Game i've played, buti played many many better Games.

Still not able to play this **** based on the videos iv seen and the they have fixedmost of the problems, I'm willing to try it now.
My only real issue is having to pay for a private server to play alone...I mean, come on...some people just dont have people to play with and dont like playing a game like this with people they dont know. Also, some people dont like (or cant) having to pay monthly fees to play alone

I’d have a smoother time trying to bootup Fallout 3 on a modern pc than trying to play fallout 76 on a modern console… bethesda has no idea how to create modern games and its extremely disappointing. This was just there time to hop on the micro transaction trend

Allora... Allora... Allora...

Trash, laggy, and boring piece of junk. I cannot describe this game other than "not worth it". Especially at $39.99. Even if you were to price this game at $0.50, it's still too expesive

This game definitely has improved since it's debut. Previously it was an absolutely miserable experience, but with the additions of new areas (paid DLC), NPCs, pacifist mode, and general server stability improvements, and private servers (if you pay for their pass), it feels like it is as least now closer to a standard modern Fallout series game. If you haven't played it in a while, or are a new player, it's worth giving a try if you can find it on sale.

Rather than waste my valuable time, I'll just tell you straight how it is: This game, much like another current, popular game, Diablo 4, is not actually a "video game" at all. It's actually just a paywall, for a cash shop. That's all. This is not a video game at all, but a cleverly disguised cash grab. There will be a dozen plans for items you can unlock in the game, but 20+ for the same category, for cash shop items. If you are not paying the extortion wages of $13/month to play this game, along with likely you XBL pass (Or 20+ month just to play a game that's not worth a penny/year.) The game is also terribly buggy, crashes often, crafting is horrible, gameplay is boring, items are the exact same, rehashed things as were in Fallout 4 (a game released in 2015), on and on and on and on. I wished I could give this game a negative infinite score, so every player on the planet knew to avoid it like the absolute plague. Greedy cash shops ruin gaming!!!!!!!!!!

all thought having a bad rep I still think this game was fun and I had a blast. My only problem was it felt short and the story felt annoying at parts because you had to walk all over the place but I still love the atmosphere of the whole world and the game it self.

I was very disappointed when playing this game. Nothing about this game is good, there is no reason it should be multiplayer, everything about this game is just odd. They opted for a style of play similar to that of survival mode in fallout 4 which for many players including myself is not a fun way to the game. This game ruined any hype for a new fallout game for a long time until the fallout show came out

This game launched so bad I would have given it a lower review but since it's been out so long and with all the updates I am happy to give it a good score.
Cons are the story are the worst out of the others. it has graphical glitches. There are some bugs. Graphics are not that great.
Pros are gameplay is really fun. You can play with friends. You can have fun roleplaying (I am roleplayer). You can make your own story.
Summary is that if you want to roleplay in Fallout with friends, have fun gameplay and just keep building up Fallout 76 is a good choice. It's in a lot better state than launch and is still getting support and content.

It took them long enough, but they finally gave us a decend fallout game.
In my opinion this game has a better plot than fallout 4 and 3.
Still a bit glitchy, clunky and buggy, but thats bethesta for you.

So, there is a lot to recommend about 76 -- you get to customize your character and camp, you get to buy and sell from other players and NPCs, and you have a pretty large playground with diverse settings and items. Graphics are good, but not amazing -- at least not on my 6650M. Sounds good, right? But then, there are the quests, and I mean a complete $#1&-load -- not bad by itself -- variety, right? Unfortunately, the Devs don't understand that go here and talk to so and so, then go here and talk to another so and so, six times is a draaaaag! Nothing is worse than a search around for hours for an object you've never seen hidden in a designed-to-frustrate-you maze. Outside of that, another problem is some are so stupid simple, while others are neigh impossible, even over level 150. The balance is all wrong, everywhere; quests, weapons, mobs, stats -- everywhere. Here's a tip guys, never let a player play where it is impossible -- and the whole idea of everything scaling with your level is mega-stupid. Reach a milestone? Now you have access to better areas with tougher bad guys and better rewards. Want to go grind on easy street for a few hundred hours? No problem. Rather live on the edge and take chances, you can do that too... I just tried to finish a daily challenge, and I died 4 times, killed 30-40 super mutants, used about 25 stim packs, and then gave up -- because the final villain wasn't ever going to die by my hand. Like the man says, "I'm gonna call you summer school... No class!"

I initially played Fallout 76 on release day one on the Xbox one X and put in around 300hrs into the game. Pause this for around 2 years and I have now started to play it again on steam from a fresh start (thanks BGS for no account sharing). I have since put another 80hrs on PC. I feel that 76 has had a re birth in part due to the updates, wastelanders, BOS storyline skyline valley, expeditions etc. This game has massively improved since launch. Playing this game single player will be fine apart from the events, or endgame bosses will require coop play for the most part on a public server. The other bih caveat is for true single player experience you will need to pay for fallout 1st... which is not cheap. Overall the combat is satisfying, the graphics mostly match fallout 4 and the storyline is not bad in my humble opinion. If your a fallout fan or a fan of MMO lite games this will scratch an itch and also be a game you can keep coming back to either on your own or with friends.

Fallout 76 has grown over the years into something enjoyable and will continue to grow into the dreams we all had for the game. Haters gonna hate, but whatever. It's a good game made better with time, devs willingness to listen, and Microsoft money. People can play it or choose not to, their decision to make. However, this is the Fallout game we currently have and will have for the foreseeable future. If you truly enjoy the wasteland, you won't complain too much. The weapons, power armor, perks, and environment make this a unique playing experience. For instance it's snowing currently in my camp, there's a Santatron walking around, I have an ally dressed for the weather, fireplaces, a tire swing, and a hot tub, there's also games, motley Crue, and cake. Good luck finding the place because I took the sign down.

Bethesda threw us into the West Virginia wasteland with promises of "endless exploration" and multiplayer glory, but what we got felt more like a slap to the face. Credit where it's due, West Virginia looks pretty good. It's big, it's open, and if you can get past the bugs and the lack of NPCs (yeah, we'll get to that dumpster fire in a second), it's actually kinda pretty. But let's be honest, it's all empty. The aesthetic is there, if you like feeling like you're living in a post-apocalyptic country song. The lore is decent, and finding all those little holotapes and notes scattered around is a nice way to pretend there's a story. But here's the thing: I shouldn't have to piece together a plot like I'm doing a puzzle. Where are the NPCs, Bethesda? Oh that's right, nowhere to be found until they decided to patch them in later, like that wasn't the whole point of Fallout. Let's face it, it's Fallout, you know what you're getting. The guns feel decent, the melee is as clunky as ever, and VATS is here, except it's online now, so it's more like "Very Awkward Timed Shots" that don't even slow down time. It's more like "hope you hit the enemy before your internet craps out." This was supposed to be a multiplayer game, but it feels like they duct-taped the multiplayer on at the last second. You've got griefers, server crashes, and PvP that's about as fun as watching paint dry. Sure, playing with friends can be cool, but without a compelling reason to team up other than "not dying alone", you're just roaming the wasteland with a buddy, hoping you don't run into a level 500 troll who decided today's the day to make you rage-quit. At least they kept the building system intact from Fallout 4. You can build your little wasteland fortress, deck it out with turrets, and pretend you're playing post-apocalyptic Minecraft. That is, until you log back in and your entire base decided to teleport to another dimension because the game can't figure out how to save your progress properly. It's fun while it lasts, but that's a big if. Sweet radioactive Jesus, Fallout 76 might as well be a beta test for how to break a game. Crashes, broken quests, missing items, Bethesda didn't just drop the ball here; they threw it into a black hole and pretended everything was fine. Remember that time people found the dev room and Bethesda freaked out? Yeah, me too. Classic. After months, no, years, of community backlash, Bethesda decided to add NPCs with the Wastelanders update and actually give us something resembling a Fallout game. But you know what? It shouldn't take two years to make a game feel like it wasn't released as a half-baked cash grab. The fact that they're still working on it and adding content is commendable, but it doesn't change the fact that they sold us a broken game at launch. Final Score? 5/10. Fallout 76 is the game that could've been awesome but instead stumbled out of the vault. It's fun when it works, it's pretty when it's not glitching, but it's still got that radioactive stink of wasted potential. If you're a die-hard Fallout fan, maybe give it a shot.

Alright, this game gets a lot of ****, and rightly so. But my irrational love for this game places it within my top three favorite games of all time. The building system is unmatched across all of the Fallout games. The atmosphere, special events, cosmetics, and exploration are all what keeps me coming back.

I consider myself a small fan of Bethesda 3D games. I played TES 3, 4, 5. I spent about a thousand hours in Skyrim. In Fallout 3, NV, 4, there are several hundred in each. Even in Starfield, I played for almost 100 hours. But the F76 didn't interest me. I see a lot of people playing the game with very high levels and I'm jealous that they like this game. Maybe you will like it too! Don't give up on her right away because of my words. From the good in the game: The community, the guys really help newcomers with resources, items and money. Good storytelling of locations. From the bad: Bugs. I'm really surprised that the game is so old and some doors don't open the first time in the initial quests and you literally have to re-enter the location / game several times. Moreover, complaints about these problems are written ANNUALLY! The level design made me run around locations for 10+ minutes in search of a door, as I thought it might be another bug with a door that doesn't want to open. But no, the door was just dark and unnoticeable in the depths of the wall. I may be an idiot, but honestly, it was easier for me to navigate in Morrowind than **** some reason, quests were also not interesting to me at all 95% of the time. Separately, I will say that the Microsoft Store and Xbox App are crap with frequent errors when downloading. The support is poor. You are more likely to find the right answer from the community than from official support.

Die hard Fallout game series fan! and deeply disapointed I might add for this last game delivery :( After being released in October 23, 2018, this feels like a walking simulator (if being uvercumbered lets you do so at all, greedy Bethesda chareges you for letting you store stuff) with uninspiring, repetitive quests, and an empty, void world Big big failure on Bethesda´s side..

I tried playing this on my PS4 at launch with about 20 hours of play and it was pretty unbearably bad , typical bethesda. Then after the Fallout TV show launched in April 2024, I tried the game again for another 20 hours or so, and its much much better. However overall the game feels bland, empty and without friends the solo exsperiance is pretty bad. I did not enjoy the overall gameplay loop, the story was pretty meh, and it focused much like fallout4 on being a shooter first, rpg 2nd, which I too did not enjoy. Overall I could see someone realistically rating this a 6/10 if this game is for you, but for me it is not and I give it a solid 4/10, and I probably will not be coming back to it.
