Everyone knows this masterpiece. Top tier open world game no matter what year it is or how old it gets.

I want to tell you from the beginning not to be intimidated by the fact that it's an old game, NO, it's a gold mine once you understand it and get the hang of it, I've lost hundreds of hours in it and I always come back to it fondly, it's a shame what Bethesda has become though...

9.5 - Fallout 3 is a masterclass in open-world design, blending bleak atmosphere with dark humor and meaningful choice. Exploring the Capital Wasteland feels immersive and unpredictable, with countless stories hidden in ruins. Its RPG systems are deep yet accessible, though combat can feel clunky. Despite minor flaws, its freedom and world-building make it unforgettable.

Beyond overhyped, when coming back without nostalgia bias, it was boring enough to make me quit after about 50 hours

Fallout 3 was cool but it had some quirks, Combat feels choppy forcing you to go to vats to kill enemies, level scaling was a issue too even worse if you have broken steel dlc, many settlement were rundown shacks and disappointment, the game had karma system which was pretty scary but hey let’s get on a good side The game was pretty easy and the plasma rifle makes it easier even on very hard mode, skills were awesome too and they were more forgiving than in fallout 2, challenge is always good

A game I can play throughout my life time. It’s dripping in charm. The D.C. setting has a cold, dark, and dreadful ambience. The voice acting can be hilarious at times, but it fits the weirdness. I remember playing this at launch and being absolutely locked in and even today, on a Steam Deck, the game continues to provide plenty of entertainment. There is a lot to do, and a lot to see. For an older title, the gameplay still holds a place of greatness. You can sit back and wander the playground Bethesda made here. It’s a classic.

I thought this wasn’t a game for me before I bit the bullet and brought it based off of a recommendation from a friend. And my god do I not regret purchasing this game. It is an utter masterpiece. That line, “war never changes” is permanently imprinted in my brain from playing this game a ton. Sure, it shows it age with the graphics, but I think that gives it a charm no modern game has. If you like fighting enemies, deep lore, side quests, and open-world games, buy it. Your not going to regret it.

Fallout 3 is undoubtedly one of the best games of its generation, however, there are obvious problems in its conception. The transition from an isometric view to a first/third-person shooter was very well done, but the limitations of the Creation Engine are evident in many aspects of the game's gunplay, which is mediocre at best. Still, the game presents an impeccable setting, great characters, and an irreproachable soundtrack. The only real complaint is the game's narrative and its main mission, which is definitely very boring, totally linear with only one choice at the end—a choice that doesn't actually impact the gameplay at all. The game has a total of 5 story expansion DLCs, with Point Lookout and The Pit being highlights. Even so, DLCs like Mothership Zeta have a much inferior campaign compared to the others. Aside from that, this game is revolutionary and everyone should play it, even though Bethesda still doesn't know how to make a main mission as good as the one in Fallout: New Vegas.

Ive never bought a game where you had to buy poorly executed DLC to finish a story. This game is everything New Vegas isn't and thats the issue.

OVERVIEW: Fallout 3 is one of the best entries to the Fallout series of games and a good RPG to lose yourself in the world of. What the game lacks in technical game design and innovative gameplay, it makes up for with an large, freeing world and charm. GAMEPLAY: 7/10 - The core gameplay of Fallout 3 is very simple and easy to understand. The game gives you a lot of freedom with these basic mechanics however, meaning you can squeeze plenty of hours of messing around out of the game. There is a decent amount of jank to the game but this is to be expected and arguably adds to the experience when funny things happen in the game. STORY: 6/10 - The main story in Fallout 3 is fine, but doesn't do much to go beyond that. The stakes feel very low most of the time due to the aforementioned "charm" that Bethesda's characters have, even the villains of the world. In addition to this, the story just simply isn't that interesting. On the other hand, most players likely aren't going to be playing this game in hopes of a beautiful and inspiring story, and for that reason the story is passable in this context. SOUNDTRACK: 9/10 - While I am doubtful that many players are coming to Fallout 3 specifically for any of it's original pieces, it's soundtrack is very enjoyable to listen to via the radio while you explore the wasteland and loot settlements. All of the songs chosen fit the same vibe and are a blast to listen to. CHARACTERS: 7/10 - The characters that you meet in Fallout 3 all for the most part have the loveable "Bethesda" charm that most players have come to expect from the developers. While most of them aren't particularly fleshed out, they work in the context of the game and are fun to communicate with. GRAPHICS/VISUALS: 6/10 - Fallout 3 is an old game (2008) so obviously will look worse than a modern game, however I think the intentionally bleakness and realism of the game from the time hides this a lot worse than a lot of other games from a similar era that simply hold up better (and looked better at the time). Graphics aren't everything but this game definitely is far from a visual masterpiece. CUTSCENES: 7/10 - While there isn't many cutscenes in Fallout 3, the few that are present are perfectly serviceable and get the point they need to across. Overall, Fallout 3 is a very enjoyable game and while it isn't the best game technically, it is more than worth picking up and playing. There is a certain charm only contained within Bethesda games that players yearn for, and this game along with Oblivion and Skyrim are great ways to get that experience.

I thought it was an incredible game, the story and characters were very interesting, and I also loved the mechanics. The only complaint I have is the lighting. I feel that the color palette they chose is a bit saturated. Many times while playing, my eyes hurt because of that saturation. I also wish they had added more music to the radio. From then on, the game was perfect.

The writing is a bit wack. The Enclave in particular are written without much care, and the Brotherhood went from techno crazies to this "army" of honor and saviours of the wasterland, or whatever. Without Fallout 3 nothing afterwards wouldve happened tho. The gameplay and the world is interesting to explore. DLCs are bit of a hit or miss situation too. Mothership Zeta is just ass.

Great game just like New Vegas, yes I know New Vegas is after but Fallout 3 just hits a different bone. Story was great, side quests extremely fun and detailed, and weapons are fun/ hilarious. Only thing would be more factions but that doesn't matter, this game will forever be in my top 5...right below New Vegas.

Fallout 3 is a landmark RPG that redefined the post-apocalyptic genre, blending deep storytelling, exploration, and player choice in a massive open world. Stepping out of Vault 101 into the wasteland for the first time is one of the most iconic moments in **** world is bleak but fascinating, filled with memorable characters, detailed lore, and morally complex quests. The V.A.T.S. combat system adds a strategic layer to gunfights, and the mix of real-time and turn-based elements works surprisingly well. That said, the game isn’t without flaws. The shooting mechanics feel a bit clunky by today’s standards, and bugs and glitches can occasionally break immersion. The visuals, while atmospheric, haven’t aged particularly well.Still, Fallout 3 delivers a rich, immersive experience that rewards exploration and role-playing, making it one of the most impactful RPGs of its era.9/10

Good Game, the DLC was alright, gameplay was pretty enjoyable (especially RPG), but story makes little sense, it's a bit broken (including main quests), and overall it can run poorly even on new hardware

this "game" (more like crash fixing simulator) is entirely overrated. the pc versions will not launch at all on windows 10/11 so you have to get files from nexus and mess with the game directory to even play it. the story is lackluster (not as much as fallout 4 though) it crashes often (even with 50 performance mods) and its gunplay is extremely annoying. do not buy this game if you are new to the franchise instead buy fallout 4 because of its great performance (for fallout standards) without mods and its satisfying QoL and gunplay. 2/10

This has been my first Fallout game and i have loved it from the first **** world building is simply perfect, the moment we leave the vault and look at the desolation around us will remain stuck in my mind forever.Environment, npcs, side quests and Easter eggs all together create an immersive experience that the sequels (exception for New Vegas) have never achieved **** gameplay is quite simple but the characterization of our lone wanderer is very deep and often crucial to success or fail some mission checks, this is a very important aspect of this gdr because our decisions AND abilities will change deeply the story; this is the reason why 1 run is not enough to experience the whole **** map is filled with points of interest and random encounters, I have checked every single icon on the map, every side quest and dlc have been completed and with highs and downs I have never been dissatisfied. Some dungeons can turn out quite repetitive, especially the subways, and the grey palette can accelerate the gameplay fatigue but from we must keep in mind that a post apocalyptic world can't be a colorful place and this oppressive feeling is part of the game atmosphere.

The entire ambience created throughout the settings, characters and infamous radio stations of this post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland are reason enough for every gamer to play this from start to finish at least once. Then you add the revolutionary combat and well... just grab a Nuka-Cola... set back... and enjoy this masterpiece.
