Dragon Age: The Veilguard4
Nov 19, 2024
DA the Veilguard is the perfect example of what is wrong with the videogame industry nowadays... I have played all the Bioware productions and I really can't find ANY trace of it's essence in this game, only in the final hours there is a really pale feeling of what a Bioware RPG should be but getting to it has been really hard. The main problem with this game is that it is not what is advertised to be, this is not an RPG and this is not a Bioware RPG; the architecture of the game is broken from the base. Exception for the graphics that looks astonishingly good, everybother aspect of the game lacks. RPG mechanics are totally absent, this is an action game with some RPG nuancesand; our decisions are rarely meaningful for the progession that looks stuck on railsno matter what we do 90% of the times. Dialogues look childish at best, no deep or untold messages are sent to the player because everything is stated as clear as possible and repeated many times like we do with very old or young people to be sure they have understood our sentences. The interaction with the party members has been scaled down to the lowest level I have ever seen in a RPG (imagine for a BIOWARE RPG) because no matter what we donobody will really get mad at us, leave the party or try to hurt anybody; if our decision is against the idea of a party member we will do what the narrative has predetermined most of the times. Characterization of the party members met along the campaign is shallow, they are caricatures not real characters with deep meanings and the only interesting ones are those from the previous games that unfortunately have been limited to cameos in Veil Guard or "obliged" in a narrative cage... maybe they were too difficult to handle to let them roam free with us (or against us). About the environment I can say that it looks awesome, this is thenonly aspect of the game I can really appreciate... the problem is that I feels fake (No interaction with it or the npcs) and the art direction is just laughable; enemies look like Disneyland puppets possessed by some glowing demon and everything looks made of reflective plastic/metal. Only at the endnof the game itdevelopers remembered somehow that this should be a dark fantasy saga. DA Lore has been utterly ignored and limited to a (very well done I admit it) collection of notes taken from the internal wiki in bioware studios; every dark aspect of the factions shown in the game have been diluted, stated characteristics and culture features of some races ignored or misunderstood... what a mess. About gameplay I don't know what to say... because I haven't understood what I have been playing. 100% this is not an RPG, Baldur's Gate 3 set a new standard but I can't find any mechanics even from the less known RPG ever played. The production of this game has been rebooted many times and it looks like a collage of many different genres glued together; game mechanics have been simplified to the ground from the fights to the exploration... even my cousin could beat the game. If I look at this game as a Bioware Dragon Age game I could value it a 1, as a nearly acceptable "something" (actiong game? Mobile game? Mmo?) I would give it a 5... What an insult to the original saga.

This has been my first Fallout game and i have loved it from the first **** world building is simply perfect, the moment we leave the vault and look at the desolation around us will remain stuck in my mind forever.Environment, npcs, side quests and Easter eggs all together create an immersive experience that the sequels (exception for New Vegas) have never achieved **** gameplay is quite simple but the characterization of our lone wanderer is very deep and often crucial to success or fail some mission checks, this is a very important aspect of this gdr because our decisions AND abilities will change deeply the story; this is the reason why 1 run is not enough to experience the whole **** map is filled with points of interest and random encounters, I have checked every single icon on the map, every side quest and dlc have been completed and with highs and downs I have never been dissatisfied. Some dungeons can turn out quite repetitive, especially the subways, and the grey palette can accelerate the gameplay fatigue but from we must keep in mind that a post apocalyptic world can't be a colorful place and this oppressive feeling is part of the game atmosphere.

I have really enjoyed this game on my first run years ago playing on my ps4 even if I felt that something was wrong with it; on my new PC I have started a new run to explore every point of interest on the map and every dlc (like I did with FO3) but that feeling has hit me again few hours after exiting the vault. There is something missing in the environment, what surrounds the player is too "alive" and colourful; the grey palette of FO3 and the brown one of New Vegas could turn annoying really fast but thanks to them the idea of an oppressive reality followed the player for every minute of play. There are many hidden secrets spread on the map, many little stories with heartbreaking moments told with just scenic elements; fallout vibes are there but sometimes they don't match with how it is shown what is around us. The graphics, especially on PC, is really well made and thanks to the official texture pack it got even better, the problem is that I can't feel a sense of fear and despair. The story is good and thanks to the different factions we get to interact with we can follow different pathways to get to the end but many npcs feel a bit undertone; I haven't found a good substitute of Moira in FO4 even though i have to admit i really enjoyed the characterization of the BoS Knight and of the "investigator". The outposts mechanic is OK... more or less... the building controls are horrible but as a first attempt I think it is acceptable, what is really frustrating is the continuous requests for help from those outposts that led me to keep some empty just to be able to explore the map and keep going with the main quest line. Combat is always the same, personally speaking I always use the sneaky sniper build, the best option to trick the Bethesda IA that is quite... dum... easy to trick.

This game is the perfect representation of an average production. It is absolutely awesome for HP fans: the generous amount of references and easter eggs about the wizard world shown in the films and books make the player feel like a part of it as soon as we start playing. The lessions are a nice trick to regulate the spell progression and keep the immersive feeling **** story entertains the player with only few stagnant passages determined by the necessity for the player to learn new spells and level up but overall i have found it more interesting than the one of "fantastic beasts and where to find them" trilogy. The problem with this game is the gameplay and the open world: the first is a simple rock/paper/scissors game with a lot of possible combos but everything is limited by the spell class colors interacting with each other, about the later it is quite big with a lot of different places to explore but it feels a bit empty and the encounters look all the same (same enemies, same spells, same traps). As an HP fan i would give this game a 9 but as a player it is hardly a 6, too simple and the combat progression even if perfectly hidden in the "enviroment" is not enought articulated to make a difference and make me eager to start a second run

i have done things in this game that would torn the backbone of a ww2 soldier out of its back... but we have to survive on an unknown planet filled with enemies... every animal (even rats) can end your journey in a matter of seconds and if you survive their rampage a raid of cannibals or alien mechanical monsters will torn you apart striking your base. every aspect of this game is nearly perfect we are asked to deal with so many game mechanichs like base building, colonists management, resourses farming and factions reputations; every dlc puts a new step of complexity that perfectly merges withwhat was build before. the only downside in my opinion is the difficulty to find a balance in the narration mechanism, we can custom it but in the end game the events are really really challenghing every time.

one of my favourite films of my youth is "Honey, I shrunk the kids" so i got this game as soon as the early access got released. i have followed its development through the years, starting from 0 countless times to try new features and equipments. it's not an easy game, food and water are easy to gather even at the beginning of the game so they are not a real danger and at the end game you can completely forget about them since you need buffs and special food just to survive the enemies; the real challenge are the high garden enemies and the bosses, they really need a dark souls level combat ability to survive. the base building mechanich is awesome even if i find it quite frustrating when a single raid can ebliterate most of your base structure because you really can't control all the mobs spawning and attacking the building instead of the player. the cartoonish style is really enjoyable and fits perfectly with the narration, the story is quite predictable but there are some cool hits even in its simplicity

i have never been a fan of the Souls, i played Dark Souls years and years ago, never finished DS 2... never bought DS3. I bought Elden Ring to play with some friends and to give this franchise a second chance, it felt good for the first run but the story is a mess (as always) and the open world expands the difficutlies to understand what to do and where... most of the time i didn't know what i was doing and why. The gameplay is really enjoyable, i don't know the overall level of DS3 but the better mobility in ERhas been a good choice by FromSoftware. The game is ok , i think i will do more runs but i am not interested in buying the dlc really soon neither

As a fan of the franchise i tried to get the best out of this game but the overall expereince is just passable in my opinion. i really don't feel enjoyable the battle system with the bugsto jump like rams on the side of the mountains or monsters. graphic is really good and maps are better than expected, not good as the MH World ones but still ok. the arena battles with enraged monsters are terrible

Monster Hunter: World9

I have played MH since the release of the first game on PS2 and after the decision to abandon the console world to release only portable-games i felt betrayed. MH World brought me back to the franchise after the release on PS4 but as soon as the PC version went online i got it to start the game all over again. The enviroment is astonishing, animals everywhere and monsters roaming in maps filled with secret roads and shortcuts. The gameplay mechanics have changed a lot in the years getting a bit too complicated in my opinion so the subtle reduction of the combat complexityhas been a good choice to attract new and returning players.

After a slow... really slow-paced start the open-world submerges the player with tons of activities and details.i have spent hours and hours roaming the map just to explore it farming materials for the **** story is awesome and our link to Arthur becomes stronger after every mission leading to a perfect ending.
