Thankfully, though, each system is relatively easy to understand and the gameplay itself is fun, just as the simple dungeons are fun to navigate. However, if you're looking for a game of this genre and want a challenge, you're better off with Harvestell. [Issue#330]

A game with a nice art style based on typical farm games that does some things well and the rest just right. It suffers technically and goes unnoticed sonically.

Phoenix Labs has delivered a magical, inclusive game with many useful features that lead to a stress-free and fun experience. The NPCs feel a bit shallow, but that doesn’t take too much away from the game.

It is NOT worth $60, not even close. This is "yet another farming sim" a la Harvest moon or **** Valley. It does some things better, like getting around, character customization, tool swapping, easier crafting... However, the NPCs are as dull as dishwater. The first time you talk to them they greet you by name and act like they've known you for ages, then immediately greet you and act like they haven't met you after all. Having to press and hold to accept quests is annoying and completely pointless. There is not really much story, and if there is, I can't imagine it's too great when the characters are all as deep as a puddle. If you just want a farm sim, you'll probably have fun, but at that price point, I would find something else.

The game is fun but I have a few issues, the farm in the fae realm I have a glitched violet jellycap that won't go away even if I harvest it, I also have a bug were my chickoo will float up in the air. If the game is still doing updates please fix these bugs, thank you.

This type of game really correlates to what I’ve been playing and enjoying for a long time now. Story of Seasons (Harvest Moon!) is still one of my favorite franchises to this day, the 3DS games holding a special place in my heart, and I’ve been playing **** Valley on and off since 2016. So, when I saw videos on my social media promoting this game, I was hooked instantly. I waited patiently for its release, played it for a while, and … oh. I REALLY wanted to love this game. I gave it a very generous chance, my total playtime now being close to 50h. Apart from a couple co-op sessions with a friend, I’ve mainly played on my main farm until about mid-winter of Year 1, until a certain something happened that made me call it quits. Fae Farm is a very visually pleasing game. Its cutesy aesthetic translates very well to a Switch port. The graphics still look nice and aren’t an obvious downgrade unlike some other ports. Even with the console being on the 7th year of its life cycle, it handles Fae Farm fairly well, with some occasional lag spikes in denser areas. I greatly enjoyed the look of Fae Farm as a whole. The soundtrack and sound effects also add a lot of charm to the experience. Speaking of gameplay, the mechanics implemented in Fae Farm are really what carry the game. Many QoL elements have been clearly thought-out and make the general experience of farming and other activities way more enjoyable. Quick-stacking, automatic tool switching based on context, the ability to move or de-assemble (and get all your material back!) anything on your farm, appropriate potion prompts, are some examples that streamline the experience. Nevertheless, there still are misses like how quests are handled out and redeemed, the system being really annoying. Money, called Florins, is a non-issue when playing, as it is so easy to come by. To sort of balance this out, I guess, many items require other requirements to be met in order to be purchased. However, it makes upgrading homes and tools trivial as you hardly ever have to save up for any purchase for longer than a day of two. My biggest gripe with Fae Farm and what has led to me to ultimately abandon it is the NPC’s personalities, or lack thereof. They ALL feel like decorations rather that fleshed-out characters. And I would argue that they are. Their dialogue is bland, short, and repetitive. It seems like little thought and effort were made for such a crucial aspect **** of this genre. Aside from their greeting lines and some tidbits about their backstory, it feels like all the villagers spit out the same boring lines regardless of who you’re talking to. They’ll refer to the season, the weather, and will always refer to past events like you just did them yesterday. “Oh, so I have you to thank for clearing the thorns?” Yeah, I did that like 3 months ago, and it’s the 10th time you’ve said so. The straw that broke the camel’s back is when my farmer got married. I was naively hoping that the event would trigger some different dialogue for their spouse, but I was wrong. Their spouse didn’t even acknowledge their romantic relationship nor their marriage, NOTHING changed. Well, nothing apart that they now live on the farmstead where they’ll wander around aimlessly, bump into things, teleport when they get stuck for too long, and repeat their idle animation for the whole day. I also couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief when Jack started doing his axe-sharpening animation during the whole wedding ceremony. The whole experience is quickly soured when you realize that interactions won’t get any better than that. The game isn’t a lost cause. If the developers want to invest time and resources to make their game more enjoyable, make it less of a shallow experience, I fully believe they could achieve it. But then again, it’s up to them to decide if they’re satisfied with the state of the game, their craft, if they’d rather cash-out rather than better their product.

Fae Farm is by far my favourite all-around simulator to date. With its cute style, creative creatures and special attention to what players want from their sim games, Phoenix Labs has delivered an outstanding title.

Fae Farm is one fun farming sim with tons to keep you busy for many in-game months as well as a large world to explore beyond the farm. The only thing it's missing is a substantial family system so pick it up if you're more into the farming and adventuring side of things.

I played 80 hours of this game and I adore it. The art is pretty, the gameplay is satisfying and the NPCs are cute. The mining is fun and the farming is great - I especially loved growing hybrid flower colours. I like how you can change the colours of your outfit when you unlock more colour palettes, even though they're pretty dang hard to find. My only criticism is the decorating aspect isn't the best. There's some cute furniture but I didn't feel inspired to decorate my farm much. Other than that though, it's one of my fave games of 2023!

If, on the one hand, Stardew Valley has become the ultimate farming sim, Fae Farm has the potential to become the ultimate cozy cooperative farming sim. Fae Farm's philosophy is just one: to make the experience of a farming simulator as relaxing as possible by removing everything that might get in the way. To do this, it takes the complex and diverse systems and mechanics of farming simulators and strips them of responsibilities, dull repetition, the most time-consuming grind, punishments and frustrations, then covers it with a cozy environment, full of relaxing tasks, with music and visuals that, on the whole, work in its favor.

Fae Farm is a little rough around the edges, but there's so much to do with satisfying pacing and tons of loveable characters to meet.

Fae Farm throws a ton of great ideas into its melting pot of cosy life simming and tense adventuring, and while its various ingredients don't always mix together as well as they should it's got enough unique hooks and wholesome vibes to make it worth a look in for genre fans.

I wanted to love Fae Farm, but honestly, the full package was mostly disappointing. It is a game that tries to compete with the popular farming sims, but never quite does enough to stand on its own feet. While there are kernels of good ideas, they are marred by questionable design choices, with quests and goals that never feel satisfying. I am all for the coziness revolution, but Fae Farm, unfortunately, feels anything but.

Fae Farm captures the enchanting essence of farming and relaxing game, offering players a delightful and heartwarming experience. Its cozy charm transports you to a world of whimsical fantasy, where every day feels like a comforting embrace from nature and peace. The game's picturesque landscapes and endearing, albeit sometimes dull character create a sense of tranquility, inviting you to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Fae Farm.

The game had me excited, but let's be real – it's got some issues.
Multiplayer? A mess. Disconnect, and poof! Progress gone without a warning. Visiting other players? Every time feels like the first time, thanks to that annoying red mark in your Almanac.
Finish a quest? Get ready for lag. My character loves hugging decor, gets stuck way too often. Potions are just there, good for nothing.
Time in FaeFarm? Blink, and it's gone. Fishing, even with "Simple Fishing," is a headache.
It's cozy, sure, but these glitches! It's like a beautiful painting with a few too many smudges. Finish what you started, and maybe we can all enjoy it. Until then, it's a rough ride.
