The graphics are clean and bright, but clearly representative of a first generation game, and the music, aside from a few levels, is uninspired.

The typical fashion model hangs out on the French Riviera and wears a slinky black dress with a fancy designer name on it. The typical RPGer eats a lot of french fries and wears a size XXL black T-shirt with a crewmember of the USS Enterprise on it. These similarities were not lost on From Software.

Truly a flawed gem. The music is amazing and sounds on par with early Animal Collective in a lot of ways. The story is interesting and if you take the time to read a bit of the fan translated short novel it helps. You can switch between two different characters who have different stories and for the most part dungeons. I never found the game difficult and most of my frustrations were from my own dumb doing. The combat can be a bit annoying especially using ranged attacks as there is no lock on. If you face the way the enemy is there is a chance you'll hit but sometimes still miss. The vibe of this game is amazing with every area feeling different as well as having a different color tone that fits the area well. I can see this game not being many people's cup of tea but I really liked it even if it is far from perfect.

Just shy of average - there's nothing particularly bad here, but what little good it has is purely incidental and generally ignorable.

While the PS2 seems to have helped improve the visuals ten fold, From Software wasn't able to work out the gameplay kinks to round everything out.

Lacking in gameplay and visual splendor, Evergrace doesn't do enough to provide a quality next-generation RPG experience.

I like the art in Evergrace. Everything else is crap.

There isn't a tree, mountain, character, location or special effect in this game that has any degree of personality or liveliness within its existence, making the whole engine seem like an assembly-line, cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers effort on the part of From Software.

Felt great to complete this game in 2022. Interesting story, engaging gameplay, worth trying if you like action RPGs.

Ever grace is one of those games that seems to get a bad rep. People constantly say that it is mediocre when in fact it is not. This game is very heavy in atmosphere and the enemy design is pretty creepy to look at. There is this sense of dread and foreboding that this game seems to give off. The music is very chilling and gives you a feeling of dread. Combat is very fun, and the whole equipment system is very reminiscent of Dark Souls. This would not surprise anyone as this game was published by From Software. The only thing I would say is bad about this game is that the camera is a bit wonky at times. Buy this game whenever you can as it is pretty cheap on amazon. I highly recommend this hidden gem to PS2 collectors

I know there is a cult following of this game which say this is an underrated gem that eventually became demon souls and dark souls but that still doesn't make this game on its own anything special for me. If you like a dark souls style game it was done properly on ps3 and that doesn't make this game itself great by comparison. On its own....tons of glitches, gamers who love this game speedrun it with all its glitches. The atmosphere is supposed to be great. I'm not buying it. It looks old, is jaggy with screen tearing and I'm also not fooled by music played out of key. I can't really say much good about this game. I actually like following the progression of video games and maybe that's why I can't go back and enjoy this. With how demon and dark souls knocked it out of the park in all aspects all I can see is how rudimentary and unpolished this game is almost like a pre beta. From fans who go back to this because From Software made it I'd like to challenge this thought : Is it fair to say checkers is awesome because you like chess and it has hints of being in the same boat. Never would anyone sane pretend checkers has anywhere near the complexity of chess. In that same note this was an unpolished preliminary idea that was perfected 12 years later but still leaves this game in kinda neat territory at best from my perspective. There is just no way I'm giving this game time knowing I already own the successor in differing formats with much improved gaming systems and Audi video equipment. Trip out in the dark ages if you like but I can't do it.

Absolute garbage. **** soundtrack, garbage combat, endless backtracking, mandatory grinding, **** level design, nonsensical story. I hate this game.
