If I'd ever want a remaster or remake, this would be it. It's just goofy fun, doesn't take forever to progress, and even with it being fairly simple it keeps your mind active.

* (English) Very good, sad how a game from 1999 can have more fun than a game made today. To date it has only been released in GOG, I hope it comes out on Steam and they try to do a remastered edition with an actual resolution, like 1920x1080 for example. That touch of evil combined with humor is something I haven't seen in a video game in the same way again. For me, that's the charm of the game and what sets it apart from the others.

One of my favourite old timers but "Its good to be good". Most similar and the best game is Rimworld. Maybe its not about digging but digging is not the best aspect of this kind of game. One settlement/city is better than many levels. Could been few settlements and 4X game.

This game needs a remaster!! Yes remaster not remake because it's pretty much a perfection, at least as single player, can't say anything about the multiplayer

Продолжение лучшей стратегии всех времен и народов. Такое же качественное. С тех пор ничего так и не смогло сравниться с Хранителем Подземелий.

One of the games of my childhood that will always be close to my heart. Dark humour, original gameplay - hundred of hours played. I still come back to the game every now and then.

A genre that is tragically underused. I recommend everyone should have a shot at this game .there are barely any others like it Its like Sims meets DnD

Not many games from XXth century still feel great to play!! This is one. Difficulty increases just fine, game levels are their own tutorial, and it's so good being evil and torturing heros! Graphics... are from XXth century, but so much humour in this game! I

The second DK title made some serious improvements over the previous game. Larger maps, the introduction of mana, the unconscious state before death, some cool new units (Dark Angels are still one of my all time favourite characters from anything), slicker gameplay, better graphics, a solid amount of maps in a skirmish stylist games, better sounds effects. The "My pet dungeon" modes (especially the last level) give you free reign to build the dungeon of your dreams, and give unlimited access to all levels of enemies. The campaign, is very linear but still fun. It lacked some of the atmosphere and depth of the previous game and for some reason the fights felt less satisfying (which may have been the sound effects, the satisfying thuds and blood from the first game replaced with sad sounding chops and slashes). It was slightly less dark than the first game, and focused a bit more on humour (albeit dark humour). This game lives up to the grandeur of its predecessor. Beware of micro piglets!

I remember getting this game and being so intensely disappointed. I spent months on Dungeon Keeper 1, but this second installment is rather dumbed down, making it easy to get powerful characters fast thus rendering most characters useless. I finished the game in just a single day and it doesn't offer any replay value at all, because in multiplayer people just rush to the most powerful characters in minutes, destroying the whole pacing of the game.

Having just played through the original Dungeon Keeper, I don't really find this installment as impressive. Overall the game attempts to add a storyline by having the player collect Portal Stones in each level, although, aside from the intro showcasing a wizard scattering these, there is no mention what they are for, or why they are important. Because of this the game fails to deliver one of the major selling-points of the original: world domination. Rather than conquer lands it is a mad scramble to collect Portal Stones for some unknown purpose. On the subject of comparing to the original, the gameplay is sluggish. Minions getting stunned when dropped; walking slowly from one place to another; or stopping completely because the Hand of Evil (the cursor) is hovering over them, slows the gameplay considerably. Being forced to watch cinematics every now and then also slows down the gameplay. Surprisingly, the game looks, in my eyes, less aesthetically pleasing than the original. Gone are the 2D sprite-based graphics with nicely rounded edges, in favor of clunky, sharp-edged 3D graphics. The game is from a time when true 3D graphics was relatively new, which does excuse the rudimentary graphics somewhat. Graphics and overall pace aside, the most annoying aspect is the lack of a feature to by which to pick up either the highest or lowest level creature **** type. This feature was present in the original, and was of great help when wanting to split creatures between various tasks. The Hand of Evil also no longer displays the level of each creature held. Two features that are sorely missed. On the other hand, it is now possible to pick up even more creature. The game does, however, introduce a few improved and welcome features. Most noticeable change is the addition of a numerical indicator of how many creatures each room can accommodate. The separation of constructed / researched items from the workers / researches in each room is also a welcome change. No longer does an item count towards the limit, thus ensuring a stable workforce. Spells now use mana instead of gold, which is a nice and welcome change. In the original, when gold was limited, it was always a struggle to balance spending gold on spells during combat with training creatures and expanding the dungeon. A welcome change indeed. Rooms no longer have to be researched, but are rather awarded or unlocked on a level-by-level basis, which is also a welcome change, which speeds the gameplay up somewhat. Spells are, much like the rooms, no longer necessary to research once they have been researched once. They can, however, be upgraded, which is a nice feature, but not a strict requirement. --- Ratings --- Overall: 6.5 Graphics: 7 Gameplay: 6 Sound: 9 Innovation: 4* *: Although there are some nice additions to the interface, the game is continuation of series, with a predecessor, which leaves a lot to be desired in regards to the overall pace, and accessibility.

It's true that it was basically the same thing for the second time, but DK2 brought loads of improvements to the gameplay, lots of humor and all the things people loved about the first Dungeon Keeper. I wasn't a big fan of the new art-style with those 3D colorful visuals, the first DK with it's more dark and gritty visual style was suited much more for this game, but still loads of fun. 9/10

I am playing DK 2 for the first time in **** has better gameplay than many recent games and is highly addictive. With a small patch for better A.I behavior and high monitor resolution this game could be 10 out of 10.

Many of us just realized how wonderful this game was after playing the 2014 EA remake.... This is another really good game serie ruined by greedy corporations.

After that incredible awful remake of the game in 2014 from EA I just thought how cool this game was. Damn you, moneymakers, Blizzard, EA, you simplify games over and over, you only think of profits, not of games.

Dungeon Keeper 2 was such a unique and fun game for it's time. It has aged well. The characters are well thought out, the gameplay is still fun and the level design is inspired. I think this franchise is the first one to put you in the role of the bad guy. It also is the first game to concentrate on castle defense as a gameplay mechanic (other than I guess stronghold). That along with interesting resource management with a twisted sense of humor makes this game a must play for any old school game enthusiast. I wish the remade this game (but not with the "fremium" model EA did for the iOS, a real full game sequel for this great franchise.

Just not as good as the first one. The rough "3D-ish" graphics just make it ugly. Everything I liked about the first game was either gone or changed so much that it just didn't feel as good. The game does have some redeeming points, like it does a decent job capturing the atmosphere and tone of the first game and levels can be a little fun. Overall: Dungeon Keeper 2 was just a major disappointment when held next to the first game. It tries too hard to capture what made the first game good, but goes to far with its liberties and artistic licenses. If I had not played the first game, I might have enjoyed this more. But since I did, it was a let down for me.

Another brave soul finally made mention of the sadistically slow gameplay. That and lack of a proper difficulty curve on the single player missions, a soundtrack inferior to the first, a user interface that has seen better times, a terribly graphics engine that has literally made the game unplayable in more recent years, supported Windows ME, etc..

Along with Theme Hospital this is my favourite PC game of all time. I've played Half Life 2 (which is obviously incredible) and I have Diablo 3, but they just don't seem to give me the joy that Dungeon Keeper 2 gives me. It was a huge part of my childhood and maybe that's why I find it so good? Who knows, but what is certain is, even now in 2012, this game can be enjoyed by people of all ages and I hugely recommend trying your hardest to make this timeless classic work on your new Windows 8 laptop.

Sim city in underground...plus humor and playing as evil character...just amazing. Perfect game for "sims players" who love to watch, how live your little dungeon. Only bad thing with this game is **** good side of heroes is terribly missing so you can play only against another evil **** pity

In the last 15 years I enjoyed this game the most. It was such a cozy world underground with a lot of unique species and the game was just always happy that you were there to play it. It shines of good humor. The bile demon was my favorite creature followed by the mistresses who gain level by training them in their torture chamber where they punish each other by using a whip on the other's ass or even by frying the other on a electric chair.... what a unique game this was ... I still think about every now and then...15 years after.......

In skirmish and multiplayer modes the only creature you ever need to have in your army is the black knight. Would it have killed them to add a rock-paper-scissors mechanic? Apparently there's a bug that causes creatures attacking from the south to have an advantage. Campaign levels are repetitive: start small, get big army, destroy enemy. Combat strategy consists of picking your army up, dropping them somewhere, casting call to arms then spamming heal until you run out of mana. The stun-after-drop mechanic is irritating; you can see why the developers put it in, to slow reinforcements down, but it makes the game less fun all the same. The imp AI is annoying; imps will ignore dying creatures in favour of going to claim some territory or reinforce a wall halfway across the map. For all its flaws, though, this game still manages to be entertaining. The humour is brilliant, and while it's easy to pick holes in the gameplay, it's by no means unbearably bad. I've had plenty of fun with it, and the fact I still want to finish the campaign is testament to its charm. The fundamental mechanics are very solid; they are reasonably similar to those of Sierra's City Building series (Pharaoh, Caesar). You can also see where Dwarf Fortress got much of its inspiration. Dungeon Keeper 2 has its minor annoyances, but by no means do they ruin the experience.

OK, they made some improvements/additions on the original ( My Pet Dungeon, better traps and some interesting level objectives) - but this was more than offset by a total ruination of the most important element - the basic game play. This is slow, slow, slow. I don't want to drop my creatures and watch them lie on the floor for a minute. I don't want to build my dungeon like an ailing octogenarian would. I don't want to watch my creatures shuffling around as if it's a Sunday afternoon stroll. One of the best features about the original was that (mostly) you had to play fast, think fast and act fast. And what's with the stupid buggy cut scenes? Absolutely pointless. The new creatures didn't do much for me either. The basic excellent concept is still there though and the voiceover and music is once again very entertaining. Regardless, still a big disappointment and I couldn't be bothered crawling through the main campaign a second time.
