Devotion
Devotion’s defining characteristic is its ability to submerge a player in the mood it creates. It is a morbid experience worth having.
Devotion’s tale of fractured memories and buried secrets provides a dark, compelling look into the depths of human frailty and desperation. It doesn’t quite reach the heights its developer achieved with Detention, but it’s a well-crafted first-person journey to a strange and unexpected place.
Devotion is another great horror outing for Red Candle Games. After years of waiting, I thought I was finally ready to engage in whatever terrors these Taiwanese developers had planned - I was wrong.

This game is a masterpiece, readily comparable to the Silent Hill franchise. The narrative is exceptionally well-written, and the level of detail is impressive. Playing it was a truly remarkable experience.

优点: 出色的恐怖游戏,很多地方身临其境。表达了一个父亲,选择迷信而不愿直视自己对孩子造成的问题。 缺点: 流程太短,大概只有3小时左右,而且控制的人物移动太慢。

has a good and interesting story about a family I loved how the game looked as well but it is a walking sim which I know will turn some people away from the game I would still suggest it if you like Horror you can no longer get this on steam but the devs put it on their website so if you are interested buy it there

After delivering the cult-hit Detention, Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games presents its next psychological horror adventure, Devotion. While making the jump from 2D to 3D, the superb presentation and storytelling remain intact. A 1980s Taiwanese condo is faithfully recreated in 3D to the extent that you can almost detect the odour. And while bringing together various art styles in one game, Devotion manages to tell a consistent story as well.

We may have no experience of 1980s Taiwan, but Devotion carries the tang of authenticity in both the sharply observed detail of its setting and its more imaginative flourishes, including a gorgeous interactive storybook episode. [Issue#331, p.122]

this game is eerie, scarry, it gave me a sense of isolation and disgust throughout my 3 hours of playthrough ... Plz support the developers and buy it from their store ... they deserve so much love and support for making this masterpiece!

Devotion is short and intense, able to tell a deep story in an original and touching way.

Devotion is a pretty good horror game, full of surprises and tension. We didn’t enjoy that much the walking simulator part of it, but we did enjoy it overall.

Overall, Devotion may prove disappointing for anyone hoping for the next big Indie Horror game, as the moments where the game forgets itself and tries to adhere to traditional horror tend to be the weakest points. Instead, Devotion should be praised for conveying a tragic story that emphasizes the far more effective approach of psychological horror, with long moments of dread and discomfort that tend to have a more lasting impression than the brief startling of a ghost popping around the corner.

Using a fresh and unexplored background to tell its story, Devotion brings us into a deep atmosphere, full of Taiwanese myths and traditions. Unfortunately, the second part of this short game isn't as good and immersive as the first one.

Absolute gem ****, amazing story, soundtrack and atmosphere. It's a walking simulator but it doesn't get boring since it's really well paced. I would compare it to layers of fear in terms of gameplay but with a much much better theme and pacing. Really hope more people hear about this game since it was removed from most stores by certain dictator that looks like Winnie the Pooh and it can only be bought from Red Candle's official store. All my support to the developers and I hope they can keep making amazing games.

This is barely a game. It's a slow-paced piece of interactive fiction, and sadly not an enjoyable one. The story isn't particularly interesting, it reveals itself very slowly, there are no meaningful choices or significant puzzles. I wasted a lot of time wandering around wondering what the next thing I was supposed to activate was. Maybe other people will be grabbed by a sense of suspense, but I got so little out of this.
