This remaster functions much like the remake of "Metal Gear Solid 3". It's practically the same game as the original, but features modern graphics, updated controls and quality-of-life adjustments. The result is the definitive version of "Dead Rising". Now this "Deluxe" edition still features some of the design flaws of the Xbox 360 title, but it's a little less frustrating and just a tad easier. New additions include the ability to move while aiming and the option to time-skip with Franks's watch. The game also looks fantastic thanks to the RE Engine and the new voice acting is solid. Overall, this is a great update of the horror comedy survival classic. I'd rate it with an 8 out of 10.

It seems like the NPCs' stupidity is intentionally designed to annoy the player, and it's not the kind of funny stupidity you'd expect in a zombie apocalypse. It literally feels like they were made to drive the player crazy, and it's not fun at all. Many of the things the NPCs do are equally nonsensical, and the quest mechanics are terrible.

Definitely a “remaster” of one of Capcom’s best **** game received some great quality-of-life improvements, mechanical tweaks, and general upgrades that help modernize the gameplay quite a bit. Movement, saving, the interface, and several small conveniences make the experience feel less stiff and much more accessible, although they do end up reducing some of the difficulty from the original game.Most importantly, the game is still extremely fun. The idea of being trapped inside a zombie-infested mall, using basically anything as a weapon, still works incredibly well. It is chaotic and full of absurd situations, mixing action, time management, survival, and exploration. The dark humor and satire remain some of the game’s strongest traits, with that exaggerated and critical tone that fits the whole concept **** biggest criticism is related to the graphics in some technical aspects. The RE Engine delivers a good-looking game overall, with nice character models, lighting, and well-remade environments, but reflections in indoor areas are still a bizarre issue. This was already noticeable in Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake, and it shows up here again. In a game set inside a mall full of glass storefronts, shiny floors, and reflective surfaces, ray tracing would have made a big difference. The strangest part is that ray tracing is only available on PS5 Pro, which does not make much sense, especially considering that PC hardware would be more than capable of handling it.Even with that downside, it is impossible not to recommend the game. The gameplay is absolutely worth it. It is an extremely charismatic, unique, and still very fun experience. For anyone who has never played the franchise before, this is probably the perfect entry point. It keeps the soul of the classic intact while adding enough improvements to make the experience much more enjoyable today.

they mange to ugrade the game graphically but still maintain all the horrible level design, game design, animations, task managing system, and all the bugs. you have to escort NPCs who can't navigate a straight line. the map tells you go to somewhere you can't go because you haven't unlocked that travel route yet, and you're still bomboared with tasks with no time to do it since you walk at a snail's pace.

Once again, Capcom proving they can recycle games and turn them into classics while still make revenue off their older original games, perfect remake that really didn’t need to be remade but oh my God flawless.

An amazing remake of the original Dead Rising. I played on PS5 and the graphics and performance are excellent. This is definitely a gift to the fans in my opinion.

An amazing remaster -but pick it up on a sale! Recently beat this game and was pleasantly suprised. I didn't have many nitpicks with it at all. Now while this game is a remaster, it's probably worth commending everything the original did right and the remaster captures. The story is amazing, seemingly a satire American consumerism and culture (the psychos might represent extremists) and the game mechanics are brilliant. The time management is what makes this game unique; you actually have to complete quests within a certain amount of time and you are pressured to do so. This is really intriguing and I felt it was implemented well. Side quests operate a bit like Zelda BOTW does: you often just come across them. Sometimes you can just walk into a new section of the mall and they just happen. Otis also radios you other quests, so you never know for sure what's coming next. It's very interesting. The fighting mechanics are pretty solid, though I felt the gunplay was a bit off. There was just something not right about it. The game isn't meant to be hard, it's just meant to be a fun experience, which it certainly is. All that said, there were a couple problems I had that I had to take points off for. For one, the fact the backtracking in this game is absurd; there was one section of the story where I had to go back and forth from one end to the mall to the other, 5 times. There were no side quests to keep me engaged either. That frustrated me. As well, the park section in the middle of the mall is weird. The prisoners you come across respawn (how and why?) and the vehicle you can capture disappears. As small of a nitpick that this may seem, it actually added a lot of unnecessary tedium that would have been fixed had the vehicle stayed where you left it. As well, zombies spawn in elevators which just add tedium as you have to go through them every time you need to go to the security room. Also, the censorship in this game is really unnecessary; I wish they hadn't removed the Vietnam reference from the original, as that really would have pushed the whole satire on americans thing. I understand the company that was commissioned to make this is Chinese and a bad representation of Communism probably wouldn't have flown, but Capcom really should have found another company here. As for the erotica camera thing, I felt that this was kinda out of place in the original (like why tf are we taking pictures of zombie crotches lol) despite the whole campiness that it went for. Other than removing some comedic value, this doesn't really affect anything. Finally, there should have been more effort put into this. Lots of improvements have been made graphically, and Frank's new look is amazing, but a lot of the animations here are pretty barebones. Overall, this is a very unique experience. It's not a masterpiece that everyone should play or anything like that, but it's a solid experience that I could see myself replaying over the original. Don't listen to the metascore on this one. Pick it up on sale and enjoy.

Again gamers nitpick this series to hell. The game still sticks to its strengths: Atrocious but awesome weapons and combat, a protagonist that seems normal but is a maniac, and a sandbox open world that is interesting and doesn't repeat itself. The story was never the main selling point it was always the combat and weapons. Another Dead rising that does just that.

While its not perfect, it still holds that charm of the first game. The only downside i can really think is that there are glitches, and it may be easier than the original to some experienced veterans. Apart from that, it is still a great game. Heres hoping for a DR2, and also a Off The Record remake/s.

This is some lazy remaster right here. For 60$ I honestly feel robbed. Some ps3 games look and play better than this ps5 remaster. For a couple bucks i guess the game would be okay, I highly recommend waiting for a deep deep deeeeeeeep sale.

I had tried the original but it was just annoying and not intuitive. This remaster fixes all that and makes for a really fun ride. As for calling the game woke, I couldn't care less that there is not an erotic zombie that is not how I get my kicks lol Really enjoying it and will probably play the extra time as well. I played the last-gen version and, after I got used to its demanding gameplay, I loved it! Perhaps, it's too gory, but it's also comical, deep and the gameplay gets expanded and improved progressively. It has an intriguing story, too. Dead Rising has that hardcore Resident Evil Remake level design where you need to save at certain spots and try different strategies between save points, which is something that is as dated as terribly challenging, fun and addictive. In spite of some problems managing survivors, the game is clever, engaging and enjoyable. The first problem with this second remaster of the original game is the trendy censorship. For instance, it's okay to show a cruel Caucasian, but not a cruel Asian. Political and sexy elements have been removed and replaced with nonsense. The graphical upgrade of the Deluxe Remaster is not that impressive and the latest remaster also ruins the original gameplay, making the Xbox One/PS4 version the definitive version.

I really liked my time with DrDr, so much even I ordered the 2016 hd remaster to play it back to back. Sure some changes have been made, but nothing that ruins the experience. And going back to the 2016 version really makes you appreciate al the quality of life changes they made. After finishing the hd remaster I will probably exclusive visit Willamette Mall in glorious Deluxe Remaster style and leave the past in the past.

Poor voice acting, removal of a lot of previous features (e.g. erotica pp sticker for photos, etc.), feels like it’s been made by AI. Unnecessary changes made to certain characters to try and avoid ‘offending’ anyone (despite it never doing so in the superior original). Controls are poorer; poorly sequenced for players of the original Dead Rising. The game is also far, far easier. It feels almost brain dead easy, supposedly to try and appeal to the casuals instead of actual gamers and fans of the original. Do not buy, only reason I’ve played it was because it was gifted to me. It’s god awful. You’re better off playing the original, which compared to this newer version, is in fact the superior and deluxe version. The only reason I have given this a 2 is because you have the ability to move while shooting.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster enhances the original with stunning 4K/60fps visuals and key gameplay improvements. Features like auto-saving, updated character models, and a modernized control scheme make the game more accessible and enjoyable. However, the remaster retains some original quirks, such as long load times and a few removed elements. Overall, the remaster provides a great opportunity to experience the classic zombie-slaying action with modern updates, making it a must-play for both newcomers and long-time fans​

Terrible woke garbage. Worse than the original in every conceivable way. The game is so bad it revived crowbcat's channel. Just watch his video on this game to see how terrible it is when compared to the original. The game is woke trash and has been censored and kiddified. It's worthless trash and you're literally better off playing the OG games.

I have played the OG Dead Rising and I loved it back then. I am happy that the series is back, even if the game has some small cencoreship in it. I hope that Capcom will learn from it because I know a lot of the OG fanbase will not support the product. The game is fun and still very gory! I can recommend the game, it is fun and the controls are much better as the OG.

One of the greatest series of all time is back, and it's better than ever! This is undoubtedly the best game in the entire franchise, in its most refined form. And if you're not upset that the controversial, barely-present erotic feature from the original has been removed, it's practically flawless now.

They removed a lot of details what made the original great. They change some lines so it will be less offensive to modern audience or wokee audiences, they also add some subtle censorships that made the original game fun like the erotica points, changed some store names to appear more appropriate and renamed some achievements and remodeled some characters to be safe from racial discrimination and the one I find really ridiculous is less gore. Yes people. Less Gore. I recommend that you just buy the original one where the developers of the game made it with love and that you can really tell that they had fun making it than this one where they made it just to make a quick profit....

A demake, everything is easier, more arrows pointing at the direction you need to do, censoured everything that is not tame, fun is not allowed if anyone in the would could count it as offensive, they treat the players like little children.

They changed so many things that made the game no longer make sense. If you are not going to maintain the original art of the game then don't bother remastering it. There is literally no reason to play this over the original. Another game ruined.

Censorship aside this game improves on the original in every way it might be a bit too easy now though going for saint was brain dead now the survivors barely get grabbed and they pretty much stay on your tail now. And for 50$ you can’t beat it!

This remake is very good the survivor AI is way better and is similar to DR2 off the record where the survivors were a bit challenging but pretty smooth to escort the story is pretty much the same but is still as good as the original the gameplay is overall good but I wish they didn’t change the damage to where you do normal damage for the first hit on an enemy and then it’s chip damage but overall gameplay is better the only thing I dislike are the characters voice and looks frank and brad are the worst they look and sound worse frank looks 50 and brad looks 70 but asides from that I enjoy the game and I hope they remake the DR2 so to whoever sees this give the game a try

To avoid. First of all, I'm fed up with censorship and with this game, we're served. Not to mention that this game has had a lot of gameplay changes that make it too simple and take away a lot of its interest.

An excellent remaster that improves on the original in every single way. This game is finally fun.

I was too young to understand how to play this when it originally came out so I bought the remaster and i am thoroughly enjoying it.

I'm loving the new version and having a lot of fun playing it! I love the new Frank, and I'm enjoying hearing some of the new voices that have been added. Overall, I'm enjoying the improvements from the original version and hope they will continue on with remaking the full series!

Movement is sluggish and not exhilarating. Weapons break easily. The concept of time is a hindrance.

The original Dead Rising was unlike anything I'd ever played before. From the mechanics, to the hundreds of undead on the screen at one time, to the overall art style and aesthetic; I absolutely adored it. This remaster looks cheap and feels rushed. The mechanics are cumbersome, the new aesthetic is ugly, and I knew within the first 10 minutes I had wasted $60. The charm of the original is absent here. I strongly suggest you just replay the original and pine for a time when gaming was full of surprises.

This remaster removes gameplay features, adds censorship and for some reason race swaps characters. This isn’t what remasters are supposed to be about. This was never the best game in the series but if you must play it then I’d recommend that you try the original version instead. There are mods available that will improve the graphics and gameplay settings. It’s also much cheaper.

The graphics were improved, the controls were easier to use, and it was just what we had been waiting for.I am looking forward to the new version.

Dead Rising is a game that seems permanently trapped in the era it came out in, back at the launch of the Xbox 360. While alot has been added to the experience to try and make it easier on the player to see all of its content, alot of the things that have always held it back are still here and won't ever go away without a full-on remake. Alot of the jankiness is still present here, with weird animations and things that get clipped in the walls all the time. The main problem still here is the escort missions that the game is heavily built upon. The AI here is still beyond garbage and having some of these guys follow you is an experience in making you want to rip your hair out all the time. Some people would classify that as a feature, mostly those who are just really into the game. But that was something that just never had been encountered before in games and they didn't give a crap about its development back in the day. I can say that the new controls work well and the graphics are very well done, something that Dead Rising has always been known for. But, at the end of the day, I can't really recommend this over the re-release from a few years ago because there's not enough change to the whole experience. If this was closer to 30 bucks, then I would say it would be worth it. But, if you're not just an absolute DR super fan, then there's no reason not to wait for a sale around Christmas time here.

People really downvoted this game for having no new added things, removing erotic pictures, voice changes and being too easy? - Off the top of my head well they added bazookas and new books (the one that makes throwables explode) - Don't be mad that you can't take pictures of digital ladies their boobs, you horny devil you - I personally don't mind the voice changes, but if it bothers you that much then download the original voice mod (on PC) - And the game is as difficult as you make it. You want to challenge yourself? Don't use the powerful weapons... Keep it coming Capcom. I love this game as much as the original!

I'll keep this short and sweet... the game is average at best and is no where near as good as the original 2006 classic. It's far too easy to get through the mall in this remaster. The zombies are really annoying as they stun lock you out of attacking consistently. Graphics are good, but not Resident Evil 4 remake levels of good. The game seems unpolished and, at times, the framerate tanks in areas when there are hundreds of zombies on screen. The whole experience feels off for me personally.

A missed opportunity to reinvent a classic in the way of the Resident Evil remakes.Dosent add anything different to the original other than an average lick of paint. Play Number 3 or 4 instead you’ll have a lot more fun!

The original is a masterpiece, but this is missing a lot of small details from the original & they censored a lot of stuff here for no reason. I’m not buying censored video games ever again. Gameplay is a complete joke, zombies don’t pose much of a threat at all. There’s significantly fewer zombies in the mall as well. Really changes the atmosphere for the worse. More weird changes: The male zombies aren’t supposed to bite Frank in the belly/crotch.

Gonna keep it short and sweet: it’s an amazing game. Had more fun with it than I was expecting. Gameplay-wise it’s perfect.A lot of people are gonna cry about the removal of some lines, but it really doesn’t affect the game that much.

Dead Rising has the potential to be a fantastic game with all the effort put into it. However, I disapprove of the censorship changes.

I always wanted to play dead rising but i never liked the controls back then.Well its time to do it right this time.i wish more arcade games like this come to this generetion.Deadrising is a classic arcade game that must have in your collection.

The games difficulty and tension have been stript away completely, the zombie AI is SUBSTANTIALLY less aggressive and and will simply stand around doing nothing waiting for you to slaughter them, there are less zombies on the screen at once as well. Where the original felt like a tense survival horror game where zombies were always a factor that you had to overcome, here they simply feel like a non issue, most zombies will simply ignore you, most of the time they'll never lunge and thus you'll never get hit. Zombies are a non threat, leaving the game to feel like a lame hack and slash game where you are an invincible omnipotent journalist that can toy around with the "danger" as much as he wants, which was NEVER the design of Dead rising 1, 2 and 3 yes, but never 1. This alone makes the game a 0/10 because a survival horror game where the zombies are a non threat fails at what it's clearly not capable of understanding that it's supposed to deliver. But there is more. The psychopaths are a non issue. They're on the same tier as the "maniacs" from DR4 now, because now that you can move and shoot, and move faster and the dodge roll is OP and they DIDN'T improve the psychopath AI to compensate now there is no challenge. You have to be a vegetable to die in this game. The voice acting is much worse than the original, the graphics are higher resolution but the art style and environment design is also much worse, choosing clutter over simplicity (because clutter = detail right?) Frank west doesn't look nor sound like frank west, it's another dead rising 4 situation. He looks like a weird cartoon character, his voice actor is awful and doesn't have a 5th of the range that TJ Rotolo had, and regarding TJ Rotolo Capcom didn't even try to contact him, he said so himself which is very cute because he was in the re2 remake (2019) as G Birkin. So it's obviously just a malicious and spiteful attack on the fans because they know the fans love TJ, once again showing just how much Capcom hates their fans. The colors and graphics are washed out, the environments are full of unnecessary clutter that takes away from the beautiful simplicity of the environments in the original, giving them a unique "saudade"and. "listless" vibe which wasn't replicated in any Dead rising game since. An unassuming leisurely mall consumed by a zombie catastrophe was the vibe the original gave, this feels like it missed that mark, trying to look spooky, but in a scooby door kind've way. I say" scooby doo" because the game isn't scary at all anymore due to the decrease in game difficulty and survival horror aspects and franks weird design so it just ends up looking oxymoronic and unnecessary. The "leisure" park isn't very leisurely and looks more like a jungle - swamp. It's overgrown with grass and trees to the point that it looks like it's been abandoned for decades and is not a real park that is inside of a mall. Dead rising 1 takes place IN COLORADO yet the grass and and trees are a deep dark green color, like a swamp. The developers obviously had no idea what they were doing here, Colorado fauna doesn't look like that, nor would a park in a mall look like that. Very jarring how nobody is pointing that out, it looks hideous. Ambient zombie sounds have also been removed, leaving the mall feeling empty, lifeless and even awkward, it feels like you're walking through an empty abandoned mall most of the time and not one infested with the undead. Glass has no reflections, the grass breaking animation from the "remaster" are worse than the original, the water looks worse and the peoples skin kind've look like burnt plastic (?) I don't know how they messed these basic things up, DR1 OG came out in 2006 and had all of these things. Riddle me that. Overall the "deluxe remaster" feels like an easier, lazier mod of the original game that does not respect the original work nor it's survival horror roots and instead opts for a weird goofy hack and slash version of the OG despite advertising the opposite. The game gives you autosaves, but you'll never need them becausethe game is so pathetically easy that you'll never die anyway, anything that benefits the player In the original now does so ten fold to the point of trivializing everything in the game to it's own detriment and enjoyment. I felt like I couldn't get the game to stop holding my hand and I felt my intelligence was insulted because of it. The audio design is huge step back, the character design is jarring and weird, the environments of the game are either too cluttered or flat out make no sense (leisure park) compared to the original. And did I mention the game is too easy for a survival horror game? Just play the original, it's this but looks better, plays better, sounds better and the difficulty treats you like an adult capable of solving basic problems. #notmyfrankwest 0/10

A GREAT REMASTER OF A CLASSIC GAME! It was alaways gonna be hard to top the original but this is a game that sets the bars high for future **** and New players will like this game as it has been remade with new controls making it not feel like a chore to get through the game.

As someone who knows the ins-and-outs of the original. I’m very happy with this. I REALLY hope we get the second game (with co-op) remastered, just like this one.
