Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster3
Sep 23, 2024
The original Dead Rising was unlike anything I'd ever played before. From the mechanics, to the hundreds of undead on the screen at one time, to the overall art style and aesthetic; I absolutely adored it. This remaster looks cheap and feels rushed. The mechanics are cumbersome, the new aesthetic is ugly, and I knew within the first 10 minutes I had wasted $60. The charm of the original is absent here. I strongly suggest you just replay the original and pine for a time when gaming was full of surprises.

It's still one of my favorite games of all time. Too bad it's owned by people who have no shame, class or appreciation for the love that went into it. 2010 was a very different time than 2023, and Rockstar is a shallow, corporate urinal cake of its former self.

This game will be played/replayed for decades. An absolutely stellar experience that shouldn't be missed if you love exquisite, immersive gameplay and next-level art direction. And as far as open worlds go: From has humiliated Ubisoft and usurped Rockstar.

Dull, uninspired and repetitive. I was a big fan of the original, but then again I didn't pay $60 for it. This is everything wrong with copy and paste, pad the fun with unlockable skill-tree nonsense, Ubisoft-energy game design in 2022. I found myself hanging in there hoping things would improve -- nah, it somehow manages to get even more boring. If you want a real kick in the ass game, check out Sifu and remind yourself why you play video games in the first place.

One of the hardest games I have ever played, but also one of the most viscerally fun and rewarding ones too. I love this freakin' game!

I've never played a game that gave me Old Yeller vibes before. On one hand, these three games have provided me with some of my happiest gaming moments and memories ever. But this "Definitive Edition" is sick and needs to be put down. Corporations ****. These are the games that built the house of Rockstar. You'd think they'd show a little more respect to their golden goose. But nah - you'd be wrong.

World mythology is my life. If somebody told me Neil Gaiman wrote/co-wrote the story I'd absolutely believe it. It's excellent! There is such a deep and profound respect/love for the mythology/lore. The gods are done so well! Something just rings authentic about each and every one. The game-play, music, humor and overall aesthetic; it's all top-notch. The game-play loop is perfect, the sense of progression satisfying; and that ' just one more run' compulsion hasn't hooked me like this since the release of Dead Cells. Here's hoping more games are set in this same universe.

Created an account just to sing the praises of this masterpiece. That critic review of 83% is nonsense. This is the most immersive and exciting game I've played since Red Dead Redemption 2. I have a sneaking suspicion that if Naughty Dog had published it, many of these corporate review sites might be a little less critical, but that's neither here nor there. It's game of the year IMHO, and a helluva lot of fun. Enjoy!
