An amazing remaster -but pick it up on a sale! Recently beat this game and was pleasantly suprised. I didn't have many nitpicks with it at all. Now while this game is a remaster, it's probably worth commending everything the original did right and the remaster captures. The story is amazing, seemingly a satire American consumerism and culture (the psychos might represent extremists) and the game mechanics are brilliant. The time management is what makes this game unique; you actually have to complete quests within a certain amount of time and you are pressured to do so. This is really intriguing and I felt it was implemented well. Side quests operate a bit like Zelda BOTW does: you often just come across them. Sometimes you can just walk into a new section of the mall and they just happen. Otis also radios you other quests, so you never know for sure what's coming next. It's very interesting. The fighting mechanics are pretty solid, though I felt the gunplay was a bit off. There was just something not right about it. The game isn't meant to be hard, it's just meant to be a fun experience, which it certainly is. All that said, there were a couple problems I had that I had to take points off for. For one, the fact the backtracking in this game is absurd; there was one section of the story where I had to go back and forth from one end to the mall to the other, 5 times. There were no side quests to keep me engaged either. That frustrated me. As well, the park section in the middle of the mall is weird. The prisoners you come across respawn (how and why?) and the vehicle you can capture disappears. As small of a nitpick that this may seem, it actually added a lot of unnecessary tedium that would have been fixed had the vehicle stayed where you left it. As well, zombies spawn in elevators which just add tedium as you have to go through them every time you need to go to the security room. Also, the censorship in this game is really unnecessary; I wish they hadn't removed the Vietnam reference from the original, as that really would have pushed the whole satire on americans thing. I understand the company that was commissioned to make this is Chinese and a bad representation of Communism probably wouldn't have flown, but Capcom really should have found another company here. As for the erotica camera thing, I felt that this was kinda out of place in the original (like why tf are we taking pictures of zombie crotches lol) despite the whole campiness that it went for. Other than removing some comedic value, this doesn't really affect anything. Finally, there should have been more effort put into this. Lots of improvements have been made graphically, and Frank's new look is amazing, but a lot of the animations here are pretty barebones. Overall, this is a very unique experience. It's not a masterpiece that everyone should play or anything like that, but it's a solid experience that I could see myself replaying over the original. Don't listen to the metascore on this one. Pick it up on sale and enjoy.

Resident Evil Village

NO SPOILER REVIEW: Resident Evil Village is an excellent action-packed entry in the series. It was a throwback to my favorite RE game, RE4 in the sense of action over survival horror, and fixed almost everything I had wrong with Biohazard, the previous release. Story: Village greatly expanded on the story found in Biohazard. The plot twists found kept it interesting throughout. In both games, the story was a strong point in the game. Gameplay: The gameplay was vastly superior to the atrocity that was Biohazard. There is a far wider range of weapons you can choose from, more variety in items that you find, both complimented by bringing back the merchant similar to what's found in Resident Evil 4. That was one of my favorite additions in the game. Also, the game utilizes a ton of action-packed moments while maintaining some survival horror elements. I didn't like Biohazard because it focused on being scary and limiting your defence against the monsters in nearly every way possible. This game didn't do that by offering you so many different ways to play the game through different weapons, upgrades, etc. Bossfights: This was unfortunately an underwhelming part of the game. Every single boss in this game was underwhelming. There wasn't enough strategy to defeating them. With a couple exceptions, it was literally just "use a shotgun till they are dead." That's it. However, there were more enemies and variations of enemy designs than Biohazard, which was another improvement. Puzzles: I had mixed opinions about the puzzles in this game. Sometimes it was easy to miss a crucial item (I.e accidently forget to pick it up) and then get stuck later on, wondering where the missing item was. Thankfully, your map shows you which places you haven't fully explored, making this criticism much lighter. Overall, this game was an incredible improvement over Biohazard. It brought back some of the things I missed in Biohazard, such as a merchant, action-packed gameplay from fighting off hordes of enemies, and more variety in the weapons and collectibles. This game, despite being completely linear, gave me way more freedom to play the game how I wanted compared to the incredibly limited range of weapons and upgrades in Biohazard. While the boss battles and puzzles were flawed and dull at times, I still consider this game far, far superior to the last entry. For people like me who consider the action-packed gameplay of RE4 (I'm talking the 2005 version, not the remake) the best of Resident Evil, you'll love this game. Super excited to see what Resident Evil: Requiem has in store for us.

Ju-on: The Grudge

This game is awful. It is simply awful. The scares are awful, the controls are awful... everything is awful. Now, I like Ju-on. It's a great franchise. But this is a sad attempt at gamifying the franchise. First, the controls. They are very slow. You basically have one speed of movement, and you can't change it. That means no running from danger, which impedes on the ability of the game to scare you. As well, the pointing is awful. Sometimes you have to open the home menu to make sure the pointer is on the screen, and it is, but the game just isn't responding. Second, the scares. Now, a non-combat game can be quite scary. Take Ikenie no Yoru for example. This game scares you by making ghosts chase after you, and when you are in control, you are scared. However, Ju-on the grudge doesn't do that. It relies on cutscenes and jumpscares, which are always dumb and never work. You are never really in control, you never have to try harder, it just... doesn't work. I simply can't believe that such a reputable developer and publisher put out such a heap of trash. This game has no redeemable qualities. It is the WORST horror game I've played, EVER.

Perhaps the best game I've ever played. It was simply beautiful. The load times were good, the story was engaging, and the graphics were nintendo's best. I love this game.

This game died too quick. It's one of my favorite multiplayer games to grace the Switch. It was free, no NSO required, and I didn't have problems playing matches and winning without paying. (A common problem with free-to-play games) Now, it was missing a story mode, and only had the one mode, so it wasn't a huge game. But for what was there, it was perfect. I'll never forget the first time I won a game. Good times. I hope one day we will see another online bomberman, and if we do, that Konami will get it right.

I loved this version of bomberman! It's the best way to play it. You have multiplayer, both local and online (when it was still operational) and a wide variety of game modes. It was only 1000 wii points, which is pretty cheap for a game with very high replay value. With the shutdown of Bomberman R online, it's probably worth looking into finding a way to play this (wink wink) In one sentence: Best way to play bomberman.

This was a favorite of mine. The art, the music, the atmosphere... it was a masterpiece. Sure, the extensive backtracking and lack of replay ability made it tough to follow at times, but the rest of the elements made up for it. Theresia is an underrated game for the ds and anyone still looking at it should consider purchasing it.
