Greetings from Lithuania.
"Dead Island 2" (2023) was a surprise for me of how much I've enjoyed it. I was a big fan of the original game back in the day. This one felt different, as it abandoned the open world style and it is more like semi open world game. Graphics were gorgeous and all of the details, environment looks amazing on my PS5 Pro that I've played it. Crafting mechanics were good - simple yet effective. But it is zombie slasher game and on this is exceeded my expectations - decapitation of zombies were as gruesome just as fun and ultra goory. Sound design was great, control felt good. It is a bit slower paced game but I liked it very much. Regarding the story - like there is one but I forgot it as soon as I've finished the game. Story wasn't way I was playing it in a first place. Overall, "Dead Island 2" is a simplistic game but it is a great one on what is does. It didn't had the ambition to reinvent the wheel, but sticking to core ideas benefited it. Great zombie slasher game.

So I played with my boy this game and I have so many things to say but Im just gonna keep it a little bit short; Graphics: 10/10
Story: 8/10
Mechanics: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
It lacks boss fighting, underwhelming boss ending, lacks character and weapon customization, zombie respawn for me was not annoying, loved beating the stuff out of them but I can see why people get annoyed. I did had fun but at the end of the game it felt like it was unfinished. I didnt play the DLC, this is just the story mode. I did had fun playing the game.

This game is stupid and fun. Its a perfectly fine zombie story with fine gameplay. The gore is perfect.
My biggest problem with it is, that it feels like Zombies respawn every 5 seconds. For example: You have a parking lot. There are 10 zombies. You kill them. You walk 5 meters, turn around and the zombies are back. Gets annoying. Yet i would absolutely play it again.

Dead Island 2 completely left behind Dead Island 1 to create a new story. The characters and weaponry customization is through the roof. The map and setting of LA put a vibrant vibe into a grim situation. It's not every day you see zombie games with vibrant settings. The story is very clear and easily tracked throughout the whole game and every hit you set on an enemy is very dependent. It's not a swing and repeat but instead, every body part and area has different effects on different variants so the game is more challenging. The DLC of Sola is also fantastic. They bring back a vibrant setting which is a music festival and it's even more creative. The game was also very fun to play and mess around in with multilayer and different modes including the large free roaming there was to play. Solid game and I'll be waiting for Dead Island 3 which has been confirmed by DamBuster Studios. I bought the deluxe edition for £5.00 from Xbox aswell which was an absolute steal.

game is very fun at start maybe for 2 hours until u realize that u just have to permanently collect items and kill zombies over and over again basically making it a endless cycle of collect slop ****. story is simple and very basic zombie genre. MID AT BEST save yourself time and don't touch it unless you are bored out of your mind.

The graphics and the design of the map is so good. really feels like l.a, no copypaste scenarios. The soundtrack is good, sometimes the enemies comes out from nowhere thats a turn off, but sidequest and secondary missions are fun and intersting. Good game if you buy it for less than 30 bucks.

My friend and I made it up to Plumbing the Depths (Ocean Avenue) until we gave up completely and decided to review the game to WARN others. We ran into a multitude of issues during our gameplay, the most relevant one being the co-op dynamic. We could only join a session For around 20 min-1 hour before a “connection error” or “network error” would occur. The joining process was more difficult than necessary afterward as it would take a few tries to actually get back into the game. Our other concerns were the durability of weapons and the strength of enemies. Enemies would easily kill you off with a few hits, dealing unfair amounts of damage considering the amount that the player deals. The bosses were especially hard—of course that’s expected—but the screamer had unfair advantages and not only had the ability to spawn other zombies, but be insanely strong in terms of hit damage. If there was a swarm you needed to fight off—often referred as “kill-em-all”—it was nearly impossible to stay alive even with two players. The gameplay itself was boring as well, very little side quests in comparison to the first games (Dead Island-definitive version & Dead Island Riptide). The commentary from the characters were well thought… for some. Amy’s character was miserable and outstandingly cringe. It’s the middle of the zombie apocalypse, why are we joking around like it’s nothing? The gore was fine—I’m not much **** enjoyer—but something I noticed was that the enemies would be able to stand back up even if you were pulverizing them into the ground. The enrage goes by quickly in comparison to the former games, although easy to obtain. The cutscenes were prolonged and boring, I would say that some were unnecessary such as when enrage is introduced. The realistic characteristics of hitting canisters and things that could blow up if damaged was a nice touch, but how come a crowbar that can break metal can’t break a ceramic mug? I would also like to stress the appearance of Sam B. He is a great character and we loved him in the former games, but there is no background on what happened to the rest of the main characters (Xian, Purna, and Logan) and how did the infection spread? Yes, the scenery was delectable, but at the end of the day it’s about the gameplay, not the look factor. This isn’t a movie.
I don’t recommend this game, it felt rushed and seems as if little thought was really put into it—putting the lack of story in consideration as well. If you want to play Dead Island, stick to the older games.

I was positively surprised by Dead Island 2. It reminded me a lot of Dying Light, just without parcour. The graphics and world are so well done, detailed and not too big. I liked the weapon upgrades and fun combat system. The gore physics are the best I've ever seen. It's really fun and satisfying to slice through zombie hords. The story is a bit weak but still fun sometimes with exaggerated american stereotypical characters. Some side quests are fun too, but nothing too memorable. They really have to work on the story and motivation to keep players engaged for the next title. Also the weapons are cool, but it would be fun to have more variety. It's just perfect if you want something simple to shut your brain off for a few hours.

You should only play this co-op and even then you're going to need a lot of patience. Very pretty, awesome gore system. Great music. Didn't need a card system and it's terrible. Map system blows. Environmental layouts blow. Weapon system blows. Enemy scaling blows. Enemies phasing in constantly so you can't clear an area blows. Story was mid at best. But worst of all- the safe/key system. Whoever was in charge of making things need keys should be banned from the industry.

As a person who played almost all zombie games, this was absolitely the worst zombie gameof history!
The developers seemed to like bothering the players by overwhelming number of boss fights and zombies that basically dont die! Literally spent 30 minutes hitting a big one untill it died.
It almost surprising that how the developers of a masterpiece like dying light and dying light 2 made such a terrible and boring game
Definitely not recommended if you dont like pressing a single botton for 30 minutes just to kill a repititive boss

One of the rare games I couldn’t finish. Repetitive missions and difficulty level was so boring at some point. In some part game just starts to make you go from some point to other point and send a big horde in every corner. It’s almost impossible to kill these hordes. You spend every bullet on a horde and 5 minutes later another horde and you are just a desperate guy with no guns or anything. And it feels like they were designing this for the players who will play with his friends. Amazing quality of atmosphere and etc. and wasted potential.

A fun game with solid graphics and even procedural damage generation — it absolutely knows what it wants to be: a cheerful zombie-slaying fest, and in that, it stands several heads above its closest competitor

The greatest gore system ever made was wasted on this game. That and the mind-blowing graphical quality, which I don’t think enough people mention, are the only good traits this game has. Everything else is either undercooked, outdated, or just not good.

The start of the game was pretty good, the graphics are great and the characters are interesting, and the story is both good and borderline cringe it was interesting enough. What the game really lacks on is its balancing and repetitiveness. Once your past the prologue everything in the game feels very repetitive. The game also seems to have been balanced with multiplayer in mind as there is no difficulty chooser and it felt progessively tougher (enemies way tankier) the farther you got in the game. And with your weapons having such small durability there came a point where I was just stuck in a death loop as I wasnt able to clear out the enemies as it required me to so I ended up giving up after many deaths.I tried the other multiplayer mode after this and it was pretty shoddy and boring. I appreciate the effort to try and add something else to the game but they might as well have made a day z mode instead of the shoddy tower defense we got. This took a chunk off the rating too as though I wouldnt rate the campaign as high, it wouldve been a little higher in the rating **** mechanics in this game couldve used some improvements too. As far as I can tell there is no dodging in this game but the skill rely on you dodging-> as in barely moving away from an enemy as they hit triggering the skill. I checked in the controls and didnt see any dodging, but I had to check anyways as the tutorial was somewhat bad.Again the graphics were pretty good and there was lots of zombie character variety, but the game overall is just very grindy and repetitive at its core. It just feels like a map stuffed with random items for apocalypse sakes. And it didnt really feel survivally at all due to how the game mechanics and power system were designed

The game super fun in the start the gore was nice and the story was exciting, about early med game the game full off hard everything repetitive the game become boring asf and story and side quest are Cringe the only good side quest is Amanda until she turn her self to a zombie overall it’s gaming fast food, the game felt draining asf everything was so low mid tbh I won’t recommend this game playing solo or with a friend cause online the game connection was very bad I see my friend glaring like a lizard

The graphics are decent, but it's one of the games that does good first impression and then plummets down from heights into the pits, the gore is good, but incredibly unrealistic and starts to feels repetitive after some time, the story is weak,it's just a little bit above being bad, combat is extreamly unbalanced at times, animations are either stiff or unrealistic and sometimes they are just straight up stupid because idk about you guys but I don't recall having the ability of kicking from my chest and sometimes my forehead, physics are different but they love to glitch out, the enemies are extreamly unbalanced and defeating them is unsatisfying and not rewarding

The best zombie game I've ever played. Great mechanics. I felt joy even after many hours and thousands of zombie kills. The story is okay, the characters are cool and memorable, which is a good thing about the game. The locations and sound are top-notch. I don't understand some of the low ratings. Graphically, it's one of the best-looking games I've ever played.

Dead Island 2 could definitely benefit from continuous improvements within the game, such as in-game hints and tips for surviving within the game. I didn't really enjoy my first and last play-through as the game itself wasn't really enjoyable for me. Dead Island 2 is basically just like CyberPunk 2077 but instead of cybernetic enhancements and quick-hacks, it is a post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with undead individuals ranging from normal to mutated organisms. Also, the only times I actually enjoyed myself was when I FINALLY got to the mission where I was able to use firearms to defend myself. The game before equipping firearms was very boring and common among all other FPS games on XBox or PlayStation. The game's graphics were good, and rarely lagged for me or glitched which is obviously a positive thing that I can confidently talk about on this review of mine. Overall, the game itself for me wasn't that enjoyable as I don't really enjoy playing FPS zombie-shooter/survival games. I prefer playing Tom Clancy's The Division 2, as that is a better game than Dead Island 2 in my opinion. I also prefer third-person shooter games over FPS shooter games, as I prefer to see my character instead of just two hands holding a pistol (that a very boring game-design/mechanic). Another thing that is good about Dead Island 2 is the zombie death animations. It isn't tacky or undone, instead it is very clean, smooth and realistic which to me also makes killing a zombie much more satisfying to do over and over again.

Well..this game rocks..sometimes people doesnt understand a **** about games. I **** an FPS Action RPG with Zombies. The graphic is OUTSTANDING. Lots of quests and abilities,a superpower..a cool **** free on gamepass. COOL what else can i say. If RE7 was only an half of this game.. Maps **** side **** best weapon crafting system that ive ever seen in my life. I've been playing it for days and it's a lot of fun. As for longevity, with the side quests you can get through at least 4 or 5 evenings at least... intuitive... It's awesome. There are some club moments... I'm having fun... and I recommend this video game to everyone.

DI2 has a lot of effort put into it. Graphics is very cool, lovely locations and their post-apocalyptic designs, the gore system is something out of this world, and each building is very detailed. However, all of this feels somehow repetitive and quite soulless; it doesn't make your heart pump like the first part did or DR/DL series. Gameplay lacks some unique concept/mechanics besides bashing zombies, again, like combining it with parkour or making a complete madness out of it, like in DR, it feels dull. Even elemental things don't help, as they're copypasted and there aren't many unique situations like RE brings to the player every minute. The keys/locks thing isn't catchy and rewarding at all. Really appreciate all of the developers' work and some contributions to the genre tho, also some of the side quests are funny af and better than the main plot.

I give it 5 for in-game rich details but deserves a 3. The game is a waste of time and money. Got it for free but I delete it after 4 hours. Not worthy of my time. Glad I didn’t paid a single dollar on it.

The gore system in this game is the best I've ever seen. This system needs to be in every game moving forward. It's So satisfying and well designed that you basically don't mind everything else that much like the story and writing not being very good. It's a similar situation with Dying Light 2, the parkour system was the soul of that game and it basically made everything else acceptable and ok because it was genuinely so satisfying. Same with the gore in this game and the combat, it's revolutionary. I hope the next game has better story and missions alongside this awesome gore system.

Dead Island 2 is a gory, over-the-top zombie action game that delivers exactly what fans of the series crave. The combat is the highlight, with satisfyingly brutal melee mechanics, a deep crafting system, and hilariously creative ways to dismember the undead. The world, a sun-soaked and twisted version of Los Angeles, is vibrant and packed with secrets to discover, making exploration genuinely fun. While the story and characters aren’t groundbreaking, they do enough to keep you engaged between all the carnage. Overall, it’s a highly entertaining sandbox of zombie-slaying chaos that feels polished and addictive, earning a solid 8 out of 10.

****, with quests like "Kill everyone" and "Give electricity", the last boss is impossible to pass alone if you haven't completed additional missions, I strongly advise against it, it's better to gyrify in dying light

Biztos valami komoly bagázsnak **** **** a game 1-et érdemel. De nem az 5-ből és nem is 10-ből. Hanem 1/100 Vegytiszta trágya. Értékelhetetlen

The game does everything right. It’s exactly what it wants to be nothing more, nothing less. One of the best zombie games you can get for your money. The gore system is highly refined and dismembering zombies is incredibly fun. I’m praying for a Dead Island 3.

Adam Duckett should be fired. David Stenton and James Worrall should be fired. These people should NOT be allowed in the gaming industry. I would rather play AI generated slop than this pure garbage. The lack of effort and detail is EXTREMELY OBVIOUS. Dreadful.

I got this game for free on Epic Games.
PC. Single player.
I played Left for Dead 1 and 2 a lot before playing this. The positive: The graphics are pretty good. Sound as well. The negatives:
I can't save my game.
Most of the fights are melee. You walk up to a zombie and press left mouse button repeatedly until they "die". Repeat. That's it really. I remember I played Dead Island (1) a long time ago, and thinking it was a pretty nice game. This game isn't. It's boring.

Dead Island 2 brings everything I expect from a zombie game. Hard hitting action, a nice mix of weapons from close combat to sniper rifles different zombie types with unique strengths and weaknesses and the feeling that no area is a total safe space. Also it comes without useless grinds and that 'typical Ubisoft open world full of nonsense'. The graphics, physics and the sound is top noche. I recommend to play the side missions as well even if you aren't a platinum hunter.

Weak game. Autoleveling is stuffy. I can't even begin to praise the plot, it's all cringe. As are the characters. But the game itself seems to understand that it's a meme, so it doesn't really affect the final rating. Other than that, it's basically a zombie grinder. The gameplay is okay, if you have nothing else to play, it'll do for once
