Customizing your mech is pure fun, and there are a lot of options, but the combat system is quite lame, as is the technical side.
37
While the mech construction is almost decent the action is far from it. Visually and mechanically this is bottom tier.

With an undeniably cool concept at its core, Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo is difficult to dismiss, even if its flaws will have you reaching for the self detonation device.

This game is meh. There isn't much to see here. The combat is fine, but repetitive. The story could have been better and the characters are meh. This game is mediocre and I don't recommend unless you want every game on the. You will still find some enjoyment, but there are so many better games out there.

Wildly, inexplicably addictive. I had to force myself to engage with Damascus Gear, but after a few hours, as the customization options opened to include play style and approch, i got hooked in a bad way. I'll update this once i finish the game, but right now, 5 or 6 hours in, i'm very pleased i spent the $15 bucks.

Clunky controls, bad graphics, repetitive gameplay and not much fun is what this game provides. A top down shooter that is poorly made that is absent of any redeeming value.

Damascus Gear is a solid portable mech combat game that quickly proved to be more fun and addictive than I was anticipating. It's not the most difficult or longest game you'll play on the Vita, but it's fun and satisfying, especially for $15.

Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo kept me busy in short bursts, but I only got halfway through the campaign before I'd had my fill. It's great for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, but without more combat depth and variety in mission and level design, it's a good first start that's not quite ready for prime time.

Is it a deep, engaging experience? No, of course not. But on the flip side, Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo features giant robot battles. What more do you need?

The bad part is about Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo is that there’s just not a lot to sink your teeth into.

It provides a very enjoyable, if short, experience and offers the potential base for a good series if Arc System Works wants to take it to the next level.

SummaryAs one of the members of FREYA, the robot-fightin’-est outfit on the planet, you’ll use your GEAR (good robot) to beat the ever-loving snot out of the RAGE (bad robots, anagram of “GEAR”). And these mechanics just wouldn’t be RPG-inspired if they didn’t involve picking parts off the metallic corpses of your defeated foes and bolting them... Read More
