Crimson Keep is a decent enough title that you’ll get some entertainment out of it, however, the story is barebones, the gameplay at its core is bland and basic, and progressing throughout feels like it’s done at a crawl. On the positive side though, the design and overall look of the game are definitely noteworthy, being two aspects that help make this title more appealing from a visual perspective. Long story short, it’s up to you in this case, I personally would save my money for something else.

A buggy Action RPG, that tries to be more than it needs to be, rife with repetitiveness and lack of incentivised play.

I wanted to give Crimson Keep the benefit of the doubt and, whilst the technical troubles that plagued the Switch version appear to have been rectified, the more fundamental problems remain in sharp focus. The adventure might be short in nature but I just don't find perseverance particularly satisfying. There's no sense of depth or a foothold to be gained from a game that's a little too bare to flourish.

Released to mixed reviews, largely complaining about difficulty and true rogue like experience. This is a major attraction to the game for me, along with the reasonable price.

Simple but entertaining roguelike that may not be a GOTY but can take a few hours of your time if you are into this kind of game.

I'm sure the developers of Crimson Keep had a clear vision of a fun dungeon crawler in mind but what they actually made is one of the worst games that I've played in a long time. Here's hoping they go back to the drawing board before working on their next game.

SummaryCrimson Keep is a first person, action RPG. Descend into an ever-changing labyrinth full of monsters, traps, and treasure. Locate the sunken remains of an ancient castle and cleanse it. The great power you find within could be your only hope of escape.
