Gradius ReBirth was a bit too short and easy compared to previous Gradius games (especially because previous games in the series already were pretty short), but with Contra ReBirth, Konami has struck the balance just right: there's only five levels, but they're all decently sized and quite challening to get through.

Konami forgets it's already made the ultimate Contra tribute - and it's not this bland rehash.

If you love Contra games, chances are you already know that Contra ReBirth is worth the 1000 points. But if you’ve never played a Contra title, and want to see what the fuss is all about, Contra ReBirth is an outstanding example of why so many gamers consider Konami the masters of runnin’ and gunnin’.

If you've never played a contra game, this is NOT for you. If you were rockin' it back in the 80's & are looking to relive some nostalgic awesomeness, then you are in for a retro hour you won't regret! This game looks like it was made somewhere between Super C and Alien Wars & feels like some lost gem that was made back in the day that you are just now playing for the first time. If you are a fan of classic Contra, quite reading this & go play it already! Its that good!

Contra ReBirth is no doubt one of the best, if not the best, titles to hit WiiWare this year.

Despite some shortcomings, Contra Rebirth is a fantastic download for Wii owners and at just $10, it provides a lot of fun at little cost.

A brand new game lovingly crafted in a retro style. [Nov 2009, p.101]

If Contra 4 was too frustrating for you, this could end up being your favorite Contra game of this decade. Fans of the series and the run-and-gun genre should pick this up without hesitation. Contra ReBirth is both a nice tribute for fans and the perfect place to start for those Contra virgins who've ever wondered what the series is all about.

Still, like I mentioned, the game is not that long. Nor is it nearly as deep as the Contras it attempts to emulate.
58
A competent Contra game, but if you look at the 'ReBirth' in the title expecting to find updated visuals and new features as the name suggests, you are better off looking elsewhere.
