All in all, Aragami was an enjoyable twist to your classic stealth game. The gameplay was original, and the graphics and music were solid. I definitely had some minor issues with the game mechanics but nothing that would sway me from buying it. If I had to make a change in the game, I would suggest a more engaging story and a little more diversification when it comes to the enemies.
Aragami is a satisfactory stealth game. It's not exceptional, but it has its high points. The shadow-dancing teleport mechanic is the centerpiece of the game, and it is at its best when you have large, open areas to sneak through. It's at its worst when cheap deaths or unenjoyable boss fights dominate the experience. It's a fun budget stealth game that will probably tickle the fancy of anyone who's looking for one. It might not break new ground, but sometimes, it's just fun to be a ninja, and Aragami deliveries that in spades.
Quotation forthcoming.

A decent enough stealth game with some nice co-op options that is just let down slightly by some inconsistencies with the mechanics.

Aragami is a superb stealth game with a gorgeous visual design and a protagonist that feels as lithe and graceful as you'd expect a ninja to be.

With its elegant design, solid gameplay and a narrative that keeps you engaged, Aragami is a wonderful return – and tribute – to the old formula of classic stealth.

Very nicely done stealth game. If you are into real stealth games I can highly recommend this! This is not AAA so don't expect the production value of one but the gameplay is done very well and a lot of fun. I hope to see the team succeeding with this and to be able to make a sequel! Enjoy the game and support the indies!

It’s a solid, stealth action game which should provide for an entertaining weekend full of quiet kills and stalking in the shadows.

Aragami is a good stealth game, with a nice use of the shadow zones. The narration is good, the visuals too, but the game suffers some technical issues.

The patient, cunning mindset Aragami puts you in with its strictly stealth gameplay is something we long for with more titles. With simple yet smart level design and mechanics, it proves to be a focused title with heart and soul that has learned much from its old masters. But the game does lack polish in its performance and appearance, and the AI can be irritating at times. Fortunately, the release's story, visuals, and sound design ultimately help lift it out of the darkness.

For its flaws Aragami is my kind of stealth game, and I had a good time with it. After spending a bit more time studying Japanese literature, and perhaps a couple of field trips to Japanese castles, graveyards and shrines to really understand how Japanese storytelling should look and feel, I really think an Aragami 2 could be something special.

A good game, like any good work of art, should make you wonder; it should give you a reason to care about what happens, just as it should give you reasons to enjoy what it asks you do. Aragami feels only half-invested in doing both of those things, so it does neither. By failing to follow through on its own best ideas, it leaves us with nothing but a shadow of the game that could have been.

Absolutely was not expecting this level of quality in an indie game. It is hard to find good Ninja stealth games. I've bought or imported every single Tenchu or Shinobido ever made so when this game was being compared to a 3d Mark of the Ninja I couldn't resist. I was honestly keeping my hopes down and not expecting this much polish. I was blown away. I only hope they make a sequel. Graphics: Artsy cell shading not quite as astounding as Journey or El Shaddai, but certainly well above Wind Waker the graphics are gorgeous and very well done. There is clear anime influence in the characters. The shadow system is pretty stylish as well. The water, the fire, the night sky are all beautiful. Your cape even functions as your HUD. Gameplay: Basic sneaky stabby fare. Honestly surpassed all my faves in the genre like Tenchu Z. The levels are massive and sprawling. They are packed with a myriad of branches and options you can use to approach the same goal. The shadow mechanic is very fun once you master it. There is no jump button instead you teleport. You don't hide bodies, you send them through a shadow portal. Light drains your magic, shadows restore it. it's pretty gnarly. It's not without glitches, but is very well designed. Little Easter eggs to the creator's favorites like Ocarina of Time are sprinkled throughout which makes the story a bit more fun. Different play styles and items are unlockable for people used to a more modern complete stealth experience like Splinter Cell Blacklist. It's not perfect though. There is no customizable button layout, the save points can be a bit far between, and the characters are hardly people you will get attached to. Still I can overlook that. Hence why it's a 9 and not a 10. Online: The Coop is great if you can find someone to play with and makes the harsh difficulty easier. Finding buddies is hard. The steam version has a level editor, but not the PS4 version so that ****. Maybe 8.5 would have been a more fitting rating? Bottom Line: This absolutely blew me away. I recommend it to any fan of this genre, and I am eagerly awaiting a sequel. Rumor has it the creator is considering Nintendo Switch port which seems an even better fit. If you hate stealth games and like to have an action option you're gonna have a bad time, but if you love stealth you will love this. I recommend you buy it because it was worth it at full price, now it's down to bargain levels. You'll regret it if you miss it.

solid game. solid everything actually. I understand this is strictly a stealth game, but the lack of gameplay variety/enemies/ objectives really holds this game back. If you played half the game, you've played it all. Pros: Loved the artstyle for this genre, fun+useful skills, good challenge, pretty good A.I. unique gameplay. ok story. Cons: Borderline tedious game objectives; it's literally rinse and repeat.. i plateaued in chapter 5..probably would've given this game a 9/10 **** the game went somewhat downhill there for me. too repetitive. I also want to note this game advertises this as a play however you want(100% stealth or kill everything), but if I'm not mistaken you actually get punished by not killing anyone by getting less points, and you really don't want to go 100% stealth unless you want to go bald by pulling you hair out.

PROS!: -Great story, I know that may not be agreed upon by everybody but the payoff brings everything together in a way I felt was very satisfying -I am inherently a fan of stealth and this is a game about a shadow **** ****'s stealthy -Cinematics really make the story beats enjoyable. -The enemies have a reasonable line of sight - not too realistic not too stupid. OKS!: -Fighting is not an option like in many other stealth games. You either sneak up on fools or avoid them, fighting results in one hit kills. -You got three boss fights. They are ok. That's all I have to say about that. Oh, and final boss ****. -Upgradeable abilities don't do anything new but are serviceable. Using your abilities economically is done well though. CONS!: -Runs terribly. I mean, why? Look at it! -The missions are monotonous. Disable light barrier, reach next area, infiltrate pagoda. Two enemies: swordsman and archers. Nothing is different from mission to mission save for the map. Conclusion: -A good foundation of stealth and great story make this an enjoyable game.

SummaryAragami is a third person stealth game which casts you as an undead assassin with the power to control the shadows. Teleport to any shadow, become invisible, materialize weapons or even summon a shadow dragon to infiltrate the enemy ranks and dispose of your targets.
