A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV
Quotation forthcoming.
A King's Tale is an interesting tie-in to the popular yet polarizing Final Fantasy XV. Retro fans will probably despise it due to its awful interpretation of classic beat 'em ups but its simple gameplay is easily digestible for casual gamers.
For a free side course of Final Fantasy XV goodness, you can't go wrong with A King's Tale. It's nothing special – either as a new entry to the narrative or as a 2D brawler – but it provides some depth to a character that lacked development which, in turn, further expands upon the personality of Noctis and his relationship with Regis. Despite some lazy moments of design and unnecessarily repetitive combat sequences, there's a couple of hours of fun to be had here with a surprisingly good combat system and a nice, nostalgia-inducing presentation.

Jogo muito legal, me diverto, muito jogando, mas uma hora fica um pouco repetitivo, gostei muito dos gráficos em pixel e na minha opinião a mecânicas são ok e fáceis de aprender, gostei do jogo

If this game wasn't free, it be a tragedy. They finally make a Final Fantasy Beat'em Up, IT WORKS REALLY WELL, and YET... It's single player? Why Square Fu'd this up, I don't know, but literally everything about this game just screams better than what it was suppose to be. It's fun seeing The King in FFXV talking about his old days, the combat feels great, they added a really neat magic mechanic, and the enemies translate well into the beat'em up genre. This game really stands out as a sore thumb because it's both free, and surprisingly bare. Like what is there is absolutely fantastic, but in terms of the rest of the bells and whistles? It just doesn't fancy itself as more than that. While It's certainly hard to get mad at a functioning free game, it's annoying at what loss potential this game has. Even just adding 2 player couch co-op would have been a god sent to this game, but as it stands it's just a neat little pre-order bonus.

A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV isn't anything special, nor is it essential to understanding the main game you're buying into, so don't bust the doors down tonight trying to get a pre-order in. But at the same time, proponents of old school beat-'em-ups will enjoy a few hours of fun, which counts for something.

There is no reason to rate A King's Tale negatively, as it is a good game which fulfill it main purpose: it entertains the player and complements the story of Final Fantasy XV. If we take this game in comparison to some similar arcade games, I think A King's Tale is even better than many of them. More importantly, it is completely free.

This is a 2D hack-and-slash RETRO game. + Combat Mechanism + Combat Flow + Enemy Design + Some interesting challenge levels after main story (not all) + Magic can somehow affect the environment like FFXV itself (froze the lake, for example) + The game is free for all after 2 months - Unrelated and void main story - No scene design. You are fighting enemies from one rectangle to another rectangle - Only one boss fight and not very smartly designed
