Suicide Squad5
Aug 7, 2016
While not the worst thing I have had to sit through, Suicide Squad was two painful hours of something that might have been a movie at some point but was watered down into a PG-13 stereotype superhero movie. While Suicide Squad has some genuinely funny and heartfelt moments, it feels like it was put into the editing room so much that a movie with an actual story and driven plot were forgotten a long time ago. It feels like Hot Topic had sex with a DC movie. If you were stoned off your ass you may see some content worth watching.

Nerve5
Jul 29, 2016
Nerve is a stereotypical teenage drama with a twist that seems interesting enough, but is poorly executed. Nerve gets points for excellent cinematography, a world that seems living and breathing, and keeping a consistent story throughout. It also structures an underlying message of how we use our phone as a means to feel invincible just because you're behind a screen. However, Nerve has poorly written dialogue, a plot so predictable that you could've guessed by watching the trailers, and has characters so bland they might as well be on a cereal box. The chemistry between our two main characters, Dave Franco and Emma Roberts, is forced and pivots off of cliches created by every teen drama to date. The basic plot to Nerve had so much potential and could've been a lot more philosophical and deep, unfortunately not much can be said about this movie that you will forget that you saw within a couple days.

Ride Along 22
Jul 5, 2016
It's no surprise that a buddy cop movie with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube isn't funny or entertaining in thr slightest. Much of the humor is dependant on slap stick and sex jokes and is usually forced. Ice Cube is playing himself again and Kevin Hart is playing that stubborn black elf character that he is known for. The movie struggles to find a story arc and is unsuspenseful due to each event being rushed into a January release sequel. The ending happened so fast that it almost seemed like the director didn't care to actually finish the project.

The Benchwarmers3
Jul 4, 2016
You would have to be higher that God in the heavens to actually enjoy a sliver of this movie. There is no way to see this as an actual film. The director probably got his actor buddies together and said "Eh, f**k it, what's the worst that can happen?" Honestly you would have more fun drinking a gallon of bleach than watching this movie.

After Earth3
Jul 4, 2016
It's no surprise at this point that an M. Night Shyamalan film would reek of utter garbage. After Earth stars the most overrated actor in the game; Will Smith, and the worst actor in the game, Jaden Smith. While the premise could have been explored to a much more deeper plot about family and human development, After Earth decides to take the lazy route and focus on a fight between a father and a son, a plot that is so deep in the ground, it is basically a genre of its own at this point. Every good that Shyamalan ever did for the film industry was wiped away with this flick. However, if you are at a party, a very loud and crowded party, After Earth would be an alright movie to slightly glance over to while you are between conversations.

Smosh: The Movie2
Jul 4, 2016
Smosh: The Movie has nothing to do with its source material and was made to milk the YouTube movie trend that is in desperate need of a break. It is a film that tries its best to be offensive but is too scared to go out of its box and say something original. The YouTube duo basically got their YouTube friends together to make a 90 minute film about absolutely nothing, which you could argue is what their YouTube channel already was, I just don't see why it needed to be a movie. A very unstable movie with an ending that almost feels like it was altered at the last minute due to how strange and out of nowhere it is. The duo should stick to lip syncing Pokemon.

Max4
Jul 4, 2016
Perhaps if there were more advertising as to what this movie is actually about, it would have been more enjoyable for me. Unfortunately, Max is a film that takes every single American family movie stereotype and blasts it into an unwatchable disaster. The film struggles to find what it wants to show as the plot and moves all over the place. None of the characters develop in any way worth mentioning. However if you have a kid who can only comprehend basic English and likes "doggies" then this movie is perfect for that child.

Frank7
Jul 4, 2016
Frank isn't afraid to go out of its comfort zone, but also struggles to maintain a story worth telling. The build up in the movie is very weak and guided uneasily with a somewhat weak ending although that may be on purpose. Frank is beautifully shot and witty for the most part. It is hard to recommend this movie because of its strange story telling methods and awkward character development. However, there is a certain charm to Frank that is awe inspiring to those wanting to make a film of their own someday.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice0
Jul 2, 2016
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is the worst movie I have ever seen. In a world where Jesse Eisenberg **** too much helium, Ben Affleck is still a bad actor playing a Batman that is somehow more monotone and boring than his personality, and Henry Cavill who is still playing the goody two shoes Superman from Man of Steel. Instead of taking the criticism that was received from Man of Steel, Zack Snyder decides to enforce the problems in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. I can understand suspending my belief for a movie but oh my God does this movie make absolutely no sense. If someone could actually tell me why in the hell Batman and Superman actually decide to fight, I will pay them a thousand dollars because out of the three screenings I've seen, I have had no **** idea. There was no redemption in this movie, it was sloppy and was obviously built to set up the Justice League movie coming out to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I will with no doubt give this movie a 0/10. It was absolutely atrocious and may God forgive us for this train wreck.

Captain America: Civil War9
Jul 2, 2016
Captain America: Civil War is a unique spin on the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we've come to know. While Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and crew give their usual acting skills, it's definitely Tom Holland's portrayal of Spider-Man, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther that absolutely steal the show. The screen time for all three actors are very minimal but are definitely the most exciting, I can't wait for the supers to team up for Avengers: Infinity War

Alice Through the Looking Glass5
Jul 2, 2016
While at times endearing and charming, Alice Through the Looking Glass could've been shortened to a thirty minute Disney Channel special, and that's exactly what it feels like. Some incredible acting takes place in this movie, all except for Johnny Depp's portrayal of the Mad Hatter, which is absolutely ear wrenching and makes every second of this movie worse. Director James Bobin essentially takes his formula he used on The Muppets: Most Wanted and rehashes it into an absolute snore fest from beginning to end.

Finding Dory8
Jul 2, 2016
Finding Dory is a family friendly flick that hits all the right notes. While at some points there are some heavy clichés that bring down the movie, it is nevertheless a fun filled ride. It's mix of nostalgia and fresh new ideas brilliantly blend although at times some of the original characters bring down the progression of the story. While not a cinematic masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, it still tugs at the heart strings and is the best movie of June 2016.
