Utterly addictive but It's too unpredictable to maintain the fun factor. The physics are too **** games asks you to roll a ball down a hill in a perfectly straight line except occasionally not too perfectly, else you'll mess it up. It punishes you for being good and for being bad. It challenges you to master chaos. Its worth playing for fun. Just dont try too hard to master it. It will come to you in time. With 60fps you can fail 60 times every second. Or kick-ass 60 times a second.. Torturously nuanced. Brazenly difficult. A game for gods PS: Learn to bunny hop

Moreish. I dont care if eating chips is repetitive. I'll eat them forever. And if someone tells me i'm being repetitive, they can kiss my ass. Repetition is at the core of every game. It's about variety. And this game has that. Ignore reviews from high standard reviewers. They'll be complaining about the repetitive nature of humans in movies at some point. The gameplay loop is fun. You can run away and snipe at your own pace. Or not. Choice is yours. As fun as Sniper elite V2. Haven't tried co-op. Don't intend to. Playing in 2020

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin10
Feb 23, 2018
Was hoping this elusive little game would show up at our local store. And despite the odds, a copy showed up. Couldn't get past one third of Dark Souls 1 or 2 or Bloodborne Just stopped playing because theres never a moment when youre on top of the game. It's a constant struggle and theres nothing driving you to continue. Unil i played Dark Souls 3 and my ten year old nephew put thousands of my first batch of souls into health whilst i implored him not to. I never had to level up my health again. And i managed to beat the game. I was taught how to play by a ten year old. With my newfound confidence i picked this up and am absolutely in love. I hadn't realised you could use boss souls to pick up boss weapons when i initially tried playing the ps3 version. But you can, just like in Dark Souls 3! And given this game has more bosses than all the other games, thats a lot of exotic weaponry. The graphics and lighting have improved with the jump from DX9 to DX11. But it's inconsistent. The lighting and shading on metallic armor in Majula for instance looks fantastic but elsewhere may not look so great. The 60fps feels fluid and the sense of wonderment is as strong as ever. I strongly recommend obeying the brightness setting rule because torches/sconces play a role. And yes, all the DLC is on the disc. No unlock codes.. Enjoy Top tip: Level up your health first!

Dark souls 3 is my new Skyrim. Couldn't get past one third of Dark Souls 1 / 2 or Bloodborne Just stopped playing because theres never a moment when youre on top of the game. It's a constant struggle and theres nothing driving you to continue. Dark Souls 3 changed ****'s more accessible. And you feel driven. Every weapons has a 'skill' on top of their default move set with is often very cool. Just exploring a new environment is fun after spending time grinding in another. Every cool enemy has a chance to drop their armor / weapon. The bosses arent insanely difficult and if youre having trouble you can summon an offline npc to help It's still crazy deep. After some time you'll start to appreciate the complexity of the menus and stat scaling I cannot bring myself to start new game+ becuse i feel compelled to level up all my gear beforehand. But i desperately want to. The Last of Us and Shadow of the Colossus are the only other games i waned to immediately restart

Even the casual banter got a contemporary upgrade. I bought it alongside the 1 09 patch. It's still buggy but it's absolutely beautiful to look at. Lovingly crafted and significantly deeper than i'd anticipated. The series got dumbed down with each release and it's back to form. The player also no longer runs like he needs to poop. It's stellar. As a fan of Star Trek, i'm overjoyed at this series. Thank god for Bioware (and Gene Roddenberry)

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was great. It invented the genre. Everything that attempted to emulate it felt trite to the extent that i gave up on the genre. I avoided Alien: Isolation for two and a half years for that reason. The middling reviews confirmed my expectations. After 2 and a half years It was cheap enough in stores to warrant a go (It was the only game on the shelf i hadn't played) This game gave me the experience you expect from a new console. It felt like Tomb Raider or Resident Evil on PS1. Turok on N64 and Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube. It feels new and exciting. Its genuinely tense. The sound and art design are hollywood level. Beautifully presented. Remember when you bought games because they were unique and fun as opposed to having the quality of being an update or a sequel? This games a reminder of that and I'm so pissed that i allowed external influences to prevent me from playing this. The reviews are mixed because not everyone has the same experience. The a.i makes each playthrough unique. Well done sega. Games like this are the reason you invest in a games console.

Mafia III9
May 4, 2017
I couldn't play Horizon: Zero Dawn because i felt i'd already played it before. I wasn't enamoured with Watchdogs 2, (having Platinumed Watchdogs 1) because it was more of the same. The review average for Mafia 3 is unjustified. I havent had as much fun in an open world since GTA V. Try the game for yourself. Theres little fluff. It doesn't bombard you with side quests. You will find yourself wanting. And it delivers. The driving (and audio) feels solid. Set driving mode to Simulation for a different feel. The combat is great. Stealth isn't something GTA did well. Mafia 3 nails it. The act of shooting someone with a pistol feels visceral. And the context sensitive kill animations feel great. It feels next gen. The gameplay loop in Mafia 3 is old hat but it feels fresh. It's a labour of love. And it shows. Its only flaw are the reflections. They are high quality but run at an absurdly low resolution.

As a jaded gamer, Grounded mode on The last of us is a treat that comes around very rarely. A new experience. Its so polished an experience, they charged for it. I couldn't believe that at first but they've utterly justified it. Cannot fault it. I've completed it on hard and survivor (PS3) and it still feels fresh. They've programmed subtle randomness to the a.i and so i have not, and will not, master it. Perfect

One of the best gaming experiences of my life, also the most frustrating. It is an incredibly flawed jewel. Its inconsistencies inevitably start weighing on your mind, to the point of frustration. But you'll stick with it until it lets you down again. It provides challenges the coding of the game just cannot live up to and then punishes you for its mistakes. Its unforgivable. But i cant stop playing it. A famous game developer once said "Anyone can make a great game, but not everyone can finish one"

There is an overwhelming feeling of solidity in this game. So much so that when your caught by surprise you will jump, because you feel a part of the world. The game has weight. Ambience for a soundtrack and level design that encourages replays. I found Hard mode to be more challenging than Nightmare because the grunts grenades are less predictable. The PC version has more levels but they picked the best of the bunch for the N64. Now onto Quake 2 and 4 for the Xbox 360. Just dropped through my post today :)

The Crew9
Feb 15, 2016
Played every ps4 racer Project Cars wins in terms of simulation and nailing the sense of danger and speed but none have the sense of fun that The Crew has. Insane customisation beautifully presented and gives you the feelz that Reflection games 'Driver' gave us back in the day. The car models are lovingly modeled. I've never gotten into customisation, but i applied a chrome white to my car then went through some decals/liveries and my mouth was agape with how stunning and realistic it all looked. Drive Club promised us that we'd feel like we owned the cars by allowing us to inspect every nook and cranny of any vehicle we owned but they still havent (or wont) patch that in. I felt like I owned my car in this. They've even animated the engine parts. The only concession is the world isnt as detailed as other racers but the size of the world is to blame. This will be remedied in future iterations, i'm sure. The lighting/shading is definitely up to par. This game will impress you

Most polished game ive ever played. The graphics are ahead of the curve. Surprised to see licenced cars. Single player has extensive variety. Sad to not see this in the 90+ range. Its visually arresting and works very well, given the inherent chaotic nature of a shootey/racer. Its also a big game with a LOT of cars. Its enjoyably challenging and thats a difficult feat to pull off. (I didnt like any of their Project Gotham Racing games)

Dark Souls FPS. Very pretty, satisfying combat, plenty of perks/weapons. Visually atmospheric. Story is genuinely interesting. Enemies are cool. I turned the colour up by 0.1 and stuck with it. But its fine the way its initially presented. The only reason it loses a point is because it didnt have the budget/Team behind Dark Souls. Play this game for yourself

Critics are wrong. It has the most expensive polygons i've ever seen. It is wonderfully voiced. It's gorgeously tactical yet perfectly first ''persony''. Theres even a perk/upgrade system not unlike Mass Effects. If i made this game i'd have expected better reviews. I suspect the people reviewing this game were chosen by the editors for their expertise in reviewing tactical games. This game is half tactical ergo the half-hearted reviews. This game failed to disappoint me and im saddened it took me so long to play it because of my respect for the average metacritic review score. Lesson learned

Best zombie game ever made. Feels like your in 'The walking Dead'. Micro management, Permanent character deaths (important because you can switch to these people) permanent vehicle loss. You have to maintain everything. Little missions constantly pop up to distract you from the main incentive (pursuing these can save playable characters lives) Setting up a camp- deciding what buildings to develop (med, ammo, sniper nests etc) Talking to people that are depressed/have issues helps more than you realise If you send someone on a mission to collect resources they will physically go across the map and attempt to collect and return. You must kit them out well if you dont want them to die. If they die, any resources they collected will drop at the place of death. Little details like this make this game special. LOADS of weapons/ammo types/items. Shooting is perfect, the lighting is beautful. Its a reminder of why we play games and where the medium is going. The start of this game does not do it justice. Keep on playing
