Hacksaw Ridge8
Nov 16, 2016
Hacksaw Ridge is the compelling story of a man who perseveres in conjunction with his beliefs despite all odds. It was a spectacular film and a must-see for 2016. Well-known war movies tend to have great audience exposure and high ratings because at times, they're difficult to watch. They portray the reality of war, through the pain and the grit and the everything. Christianity-based movies usually have terrible audience exposure and extremely low ratings because the plot, the issue, and the solution all seem too artificial and unrealistic. But Hacksaw Ridge is undoubtedly a Christian movie, a gritty Christian film done correctly in my opinion. You see the struggle, a very real struggle of a very faithful man persevering through countless obstacles and hindrances despite all negative pressure and criticism that surrounds him throughout the film. It is very emotional to watch and it's a very raw experience. Personally knowing about the real story of Desmond Doss, I feel that this film does his legacy justice. This film will grip you and entice you to see just how far this faithful man, Desmond Doss, will go to prove himself and his beliefs. Once again, it is a must-see. Sit tight and enjoy this powerful story that might even bring you to inspirational tears.

Before the Flood10
Nov 7, 2016
Before the Flood is a work of art amongst documentaries. A documentary in it's most basic essence is just a movie/program that gives a factual record or report. It covers that definition for sure, but for it to be so aesthetic in it's delivery and dialogue propels this documentary into an immortalized pedestal for our society to view today. Before the Flood covers an amazingly relevant topic not only to people of today's day and age, but to anyone living in the world present and future. The best part of this documentary in my opinion was how easy the science and information was to process and make sense of. There can be much complexity when it comes to the topic of climate change but the science and information was quite easy to follow which adds an extra layer of viewing power to this documentary. Families, children, classrooms, and even the elderly can watch this and understand it fully. This must not be a coincidence, the team behind this documentary took this into account and made the potential reach as far as possible. As you watch this film, you will be able to clearly see the passion that oozes out of Leonardo DiCaprio throughout his journey to bring this important issue out of the shadows and into the light. Finally, I believe this movie appeals to the audience in many ways a documentary usually doesn't. The soundtrack was literally made for this documentary and works harmoniously together. The visuals were actually very stunning, which is unique for a documentary. A lot of time, effort, and precision went into creating this film for sure and it's definitely worth a watch.
