Its kind of genius that Duncan Jones can actual make a warcraft film into what is basically a pacifist film focusing on both sides of a big budget fantasy-action-war film based on a game. Mostly well-acted as well, although Ben Foster is actually really bad throughout and really chews the scenery. It does end in an open-ended sequel-prepared fashion which is a bit frustrating also and probably won't be fulfilled by the sequel it desires. Perfectly competent though and slightly compelling.

The music is weak, the writing is all over the place (reading interviews with them you can see this is not necessarily the writer or director's faults) and the acting is generally mediocre. Charles Grodin was an exception to this and was funny and charming in what I believe was his first film since his great role in Midnight Run. Bateman and Braff are on autopilot both playing the roles they had played consistently in this era of their careers. Some weird cameos from Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler and even Amy Addams (!) only emphasise the waste of talent on display. Also the music is frankly awful and has dated incredibly badly!

Very intensely emotional, incredible, no real direction just raw emotional documenting of events. Real heart-renching stuff. I created an account to review this movie because I think that it was not only greatly moving but should be watched by men as it takes a hard and relentless look at masculinity and father-son relationships. Must-see.
