Final Fantasy VII Remake7
Apr 13, 2020
I gave it a 7.8, it would've been a 9 if they didn't messed up the story. This is more like a FF7: Reimagined by Nomura. The good: great visual upgrade from the original, fun combat, and most of the cast are nicely remake. The not so good: episodic, some details but significant moments are altered and felt streamlined, such as when Aeris met Cloud the first time or you can choose to give the flower to Marlene, filler quests are mostly unimaginative and boring, new characters aren't necessary. The ugly: altering smaller moments are forgivable, but main plot line altered just to show your own take and calling it a remake? it is a sin. Unnecessary alteration. I do look forward for the next episode, if its ever happen in this lifetime, and I won't bother with wishing for more closer plot line to the original since it's already a different story.

Red Dead Redemption 25

The first one definitely a lot better. John Marston was a living breathing character. A gentleman. A real cowboy. The first scene inside the train already set up a great Western feeling. All the supporting characters were perfectly fit the storyline and settings. This time around, it starts with a bunch of things that make this latest installment un-Western feels. Chapter one already felt like chore than adventure, a drama for the feels not action. I personally feels, politically correct tone really ruins the supposedly deeper Western experience. It set this game backwards in terms of freedom of creativity in story telling. Modern politics really doesn't fit any story driven game, especially true with this game. Rockstar Games famous with their rich original story, they shouldn't have involved themselves with the politically correct bunch. (this maybe also the reason why the voice acting isn't as good as the previous one, felt like they held back on stereotypes.)

Detroit: Become Human7
May 25, 2018
Personally, I don't really enjoy the game. I do like the stunning visual, the lighting is excellent, and I did enjoy the detective part of the game (the best part of the game, huge upgrade from Heavy rain). Unlike Heavy Rains where it focuses on the criminal aspect of the game, Detroit is more about social revolution of the cast. It contains words and ideas that are imitating the current trend of social-politics in America today. Detroit is basically a paralel world to America where the opressed are the robots. It's not a propaganda in anyway, it's more of a provocative message. This is part of the story that I do not enjoy. Rather than entertaining, Detroit narattives may make you feel uncomfortable, annoyed, and depressed. It's not what I'm expecting from Detroit, I was expecting more of a sequel to Heavy Rains or similar to that in terms of story and narratives. To me Detroit is not a game that I would like to play for fun or enjoy in my free time. I had enough politics in my daily entertainment, all I want is to be free from it. Similar games like Heavy Rains and LA Noire are much superior in terms of story and satisfaction, guaranteed! (Heavy Rains focuses around the people involved in the criminal case, while LA Noire focuses on a very interesting cop). Save your money by renting the game or borrow it from your friend or wait for sales. Otherwise, you can always watch your favorite streamer or Youtube channel to see what it's all about. Also, there are many new games coming out this year that are far more fun and interesting and less about social politics and feeling involved.

God of War7

I FEEL NOTHING! Exactly, this game lacks originality compare to the original trilogy. If you're new to the series and didn't play the original when it was fresh, then this might seems good to you. Huge disappointment from me. The killing/combat felt held back and not as spectacular as the first three games. It feels like Kratos had been brainwashed by the liberals at Sony HQ and given task to babysit an annoying little man. Removing the female nudity is not so much of a problem for me, but making Kratos into a "vegetarian wanna be cool dad" is just not what I want from him and the franchise. Huge waste of time and production budget from Santa Monica studios. If they want to make something similar to The Last of Us go ahead, just don't use God of War franchise as the basis for it. To me Kratos is always an avenger, an angry half-god who brutally murders gods and shreds titans into pieces and destroys cities with all of the civilians in it without any second thought . He was betrayed and he got nothing to lose. He is the GOD OF WAR, he did it for his family. I gave 7 for the visual alone, other than that Kratos is dead.

Monster Hunter: World9
Jan 26, 2018
After having fun with MHW for almost 20 hours, I decided to give it 9/10. It has beautiful visual/world, it has interesting story and characters, hundreds of hours of content easy, great combat design, I love the monster design, smooth online experience (you need to read the tutorials), and absolutely addicting to play. I would've given perfect score if they didn't make me read that much of tutorials (the first hour is the most tedious thing, it's an RPG but still a lot of reading) and not having constant 60 fps on PS4 pro is a little outdated. Other than those two, the game is absolutely worth every penny. I recommend this game to anyone who loves adventure game. Play with friends, build a guild or join one, and share your adventure to the world, these will double the fun and increased the value of the game by ten folds. Keep on hunting! Don't forget, more free contents coming in the future update.

The Evil Within 27
Oct 13, 2017
The Evil Within 2 is a slightly above average horror game with pretty looking graphics. It came out almost like a brand new title rather than following the path of the original game. It sacrificed a lot of its original concepts from the prequel to appeal to wider audiences. Even though EW1 is my favorite, I won't bash EW2 with negativity since there are people who might enjoy or prefer the sequel. EW2 is not directed by Mikami rather by Johanas (he directed EW1 DLC). A new director means a new perspective. He overhauled over 80% of the original design and installed his own new ideas. He made EW2 a semi-open world game which completely changed the identity of the game. He emphasized it more on the story than on the action (combat). Story wise, EW2 is a lot less puzzling (linear) and a lot more drama compared to EW1. EW2 feels like many different games combined. It includes games like Fallout series, a hint of Silent Hill, a touch of Resident Evil, a lot of Dead Space, and obviously The Last of Us. At the end of the day, Bethesda is a business. Their business is selling video games. In order to sell more copies of EW2, they have to listen to previous complaints while also expanding their target audiences. EW1 wasn't a failure but its original concept only appeals to certain group of people (that includes me). You can read more in-depth explanation by Shinji Mikami and search for “The Evil Within 2 Doesn't Want To 'Suffocate' You With Horror Elements”. If you loved the first game and looking for a faithful continuation, you might want to wait for sales to pick up EW2 considering it shares very little resemblance to EW1 (though if you just want to have fun definitely go for it). If you didn't like EW1, you should go buy EW2. If you never play Evil Within before, I suggest you start with EW2 since it has easier to digest story, far more forgiving to play (in terms of difficulties), and has updated graphics.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice6
Aug 9, 2017
Game is very boring, story is questionably awful, and incredibly linear gameplay. The only reason I tried it because of the graphics and the media coverage. I recommend wait for sales or skip entirely. There are better games coming out in the upcoming months. This title should've been $15 at most.

Tekken 77
Jun 2, 2017
Tekken 7 delivers true fighting game experience. It has solid online multiplayer, pretty up to date graphic, nice soundtracks, big initial roster, unique character and in game UI customization, sharp input controls, and challenging combo. What it lacks is single player/offline content. It has a story mode but it's very shallow or should I say rushed. If you are looking for a great, fun, and challenging fighting game, look no further. If you're looking for story/offline content, better rent or wait for sales.

Injustice 27

It's fun, it's great looking, it has big roster (28+ characters), it has story mode (2.5 hours long Hollywood quality cinematic), cool gears, smooth online experience, and quick matchmaking. I gave 7/10 because of the (current) online matchmaking always pairs me up with far higher level opponent that I have no chance of winning, and Deadshot is quite a cheap character (can't even get close to him). It's a unique fighting game with very high quality production, and if you like DC characters/superheroes this is it.

Mass Effect: Andromeda3
Mar 21, 2017
When you type Bioware on Google you'll find their slogan is "Rich stories, Unforgettable characters, and Vast worlds". ME:Andromeda has a vast world (I give them that), but it lacks in interesting story and compelling characters. ME: Andromeda fails to deliver a complete Mass Effect experience. I'm just gonna go with the facts that I personally found in the game. I'll start with unpleasant facts, because my first impression was full of unpleasant bugs and irritating features (and it happens right from the very beginning of the game). Character creation is very limited and a huge step backward. The templates are plain ugly, both male and female. You aren't allowed to change Ryder's original face template. Game is buggy and you'll find it quite often the first few hours. Objects/models popping in and out, sometimes they just stuck in place or completely missing. Facial animations are complete failure, they have very little expressions and terrible lipsync. Some character movement animations are questionable and sometime their limbs may glitch. Dialogues are average or worst if you compare it to previous Mass Effect. Also the final game doesn't look anything like in the trailer (missing "movie effects" and colors just completely different, trailer look much smoother). Bioware removed Paragon/Renegade features. They also removed classes. The auto cover system is annoying. The squad mates which you're supposed to "mate" with are terribly designed (the ladies are "unappealing", and I'm sorry I'm not into men). The human models look a lot like robot, their faces look like plastic and their eyes are just "dead". The space fantasy that I always loved from ME was ruined because of terrible first impression. Totally not what I'm looking for in a Mass Effect game. It took them 5 years to make and they are not done. They shouldn't have release it. I don't know where those $40 million go? It felt like the team that make this game weren't working as one, rather scrambled. They should've hire better animator, coder, and tester. There's a few things worth praising though. The combat system does work. The people who design the combat system need a raise. It felt smooth, quick, and the higher mobility is awesome. During combat you'll feel good. Tons of customization. Apart from the background music being a bit underwhelming, the vistas and the environments looking gorgeous. But those are just part of the game sadly. They have failed to keep me playing. It's like watching a super high budget movie with great settings but starring bad actors playing as unappealing characters with bad script. How am I supposed to involve myself in it. It definitely not worth my $60, and my time. I felt victim to the hype and Mass Effect past glory.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard8
Jan 24, 2017
Honestly this game is a great starting point for Capcom to reboot this tired franchise. It's scary, has nice graphic, good voice acting, has puzzle to solve, has interesting story and characters. I might be picky but I think the boss fight can be a little more satisfying, the game also lacking in monster variety, and I wish the "herb" healing item is in the game. Another thing that I wish they added to the game is DIY weapons, like you find parts here and there and then you have to make them into working weapon. Last complain is the VR really messed with your brain, make you extremely dizzy after an hour or two. Best played on a TV screen. I hope this success won't make Capcom lazy for the next installment, and rather become even more enthusiastic to create even better survival horror. 8.5/10 should be the right score for this game.

Let It Die8
Dec 7, 2016
This game is absolutely fun to play. A few hours in and I'm having a blast. It's FREE to play with premium content, but it doesn't mean you have to pay to access full game. You just have to be smart about inventory and learn from mistakes. The developer are quite forgiving, they don't just ask for your wallet if you die. Premium content doesn't give you too much advantage, it's more like a convenient kind of thing. You still have to grind hard and it is fun. Well try it yourself, it's FREE.

Final Fantasy XV7
Nov 30, 2016
I'm a fan of Final Fantasy (FF) series. I would be lying if I say I played all of it. I have completed 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. I also played Tactics advance and Ogre. What drawn me towards the series are 3 different reasons. (from here on will be my personal opinion and I will compare it to FF15) First is great story telling. To me story is an important aspect of Final Fantasy, story defines worlds, its characters, and conflicts within it. Without good writings and story telling, FF is just a bland JRPG. Personally FF15 doesn't have a compelling story, I find it difficult to relate with the characters(lack of female cast in the party also a probable reason). The conflict isn't well define, it's too linear. The world which apparently "fantasy based on reality" is not what I'm expecting from the series. I can see one town influenced by Venice and another area by US countryside/highway, I prefer more unified culture since it's one kingdom. The town lack of characters, and the people inside of it mostly doesn't care about what happen to the kingdom. For example, there's a war happening in the capital, king is killed and yet town is fine and everyone driving around like there's nothing happening, soldiers don't even march or invade the town, what I meant is there's no panic or chaos like in FF7 or 10. The conflict should echo through the entire world, effecting population in it. I can go on and on about why the story is lacking and comparing things to previous FF, but I'll stop here. Second thing is the art style. Great art style has been defining Final Fantasy since the beginning. Colorful imaginary worlds, towering castles, unique characters, menacing monsters, cool items, and lots of amazing details. FF15 doesn't really nail that, the art style is not consistent. It has great monsters, cool weapon designs, and things like magic arts and summons. Yet it's feels like it's not design with one set of mind rather with confused, rushed, and mixed ideas. Lets focus on costumes, Noct and friends wears black leather and all. It's fine, but what's not fine is the inconsistency within the world. The town people wears t-shirt and modern clothing. This make no sense at all, especially within one kingdom. Culture what build a kingdom, if one wears a toga other wear it too. Buildings, cars, colors pattern all are inconsistent, it disconnect me from the world. In previous FF it never is the case, it was always consistent. FF10 has Okinawan style (Japanese style garment), beach, water, blue colors, very unique overly detailed pattern in weapons, summons, buildings. FF7 has dark industrial feel throughout, a touch of steam punk and it works. FF9 with medieval fantasy feels. FF12 has World of Ivalice which is great design. FF15 really doesn't have a pattern, I think "fantasy based on reality" design ideas doesn't really work. Finally the final main reason I'm a fan of FF is the music. Music gives feelings to the series, it brings life and drawn you even more into its conflict. Music makes you sympathize towards its characters or detest them. FF always has great music composed specially for each important moment. It easily recognizable since mostly composed by a guy name Nobuo Uematsu and his team. Battle and victory music always a classic, and on many occasions they even create original song like Suteki da ne(along with the cinematic, made me tearing up) and piano piece To Zanarkand (this one always weaken my heart, made me felt the pain of the party). Now comes Yoko Shimomura, super amazing brilliant composer. She made Kingdom Hearts stands out in the music department apart from other great reason. In FF15 Shimomura did it again, she nailed it. This another thing that make me give lots more points to FF15. The only personal thing I don't like is how they use "stand by me" as their main opening and ending for the series. Why not let Yoko create her own for the series, is it because how Tabata wants it to appeal more to the US audience? I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong, Stand by me by Ben E King is in my favorite list. Apart from all the things I mentioned, FF15 is a good game to play. It has great graphics, pretty fun combat, and an okay world to explore. It's not defining for the series but certainly is a step forward. I predict 5-6 millions will be sold. Am I disappointed? Yes in a way, because it is Final Fantasy main line series and I'm expecting more to it.

This game deserved at least 7/10 just for the graphic alone. The story is quite intriguing and I'm into it personally. Maybe not so much for the gameplay though, shootings kind of shallow and the stealth mmmm... can be better. Much can be improve in the gameplay department for sure. Try renting the game.
