Another beautiful, confusing, funny yet gut wrenching game by Hideo Kojima. You'll experience every emotion imaginable, You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be entertained, you'll be bored. I was totally absorbed the whole way through

Batman: Arkham Shadow7
Oct 30, 2024
After the miserable excuse of a sequel "Suicide Squad kill the Justic League" was, it's great to return to the Arkham series. The freeflow combat and aesthetic is amazingly well done, if I had one criticism however it's that the game would be so much better if there was a full PC release. There's stutters, it's clearly not rendered anywhere near the headsets native resolution, but regardless of that it's still a good time.

Marvel's Iron Man VR4
Sep 7, 2024
This is an older VR title ported to the quest so you expect some level of jank, but at only level 5 i'm considering cutting my losses with this game and uninstalling it. You control a slightly ape like Iron man who seems to be suffering from gigantism, zipping around bonking into walls and obsticals as you clumsily fumble with figuring out where your hands need to be to swap weapons. At the end of each short mission you are immersed in the VR experience by being locked into place like a camera on a tripod to listen to some unskippable boring waffle. Also, it took about 3.2 microseconds to figure out the big twist the moment his name was mentioned, I mean come on.

Alan Wake II5
Aug 6, 2024
Alan Wake 2 has everything except good game design. The levels look visually interesting, the voice acting is great, the story is okay (despite being deliberately confusing), there are some really great moments mixed in, but holy hell is some of the gameplay frustrating and non-sensical. I just want to finish this game so I can uninstall it, but i'm currently running around halways with no idea where i'm supposed to be going getting instakilled by a big screaming head and I'm so tempted just to quit and watch the ending on youtube. There are too many moments like this where you have no real direction, whether it be enviromental confusion, or lack of direction as to how you're supposed to achieve the barely explained goals. Super dissapointing.

Hogwarts Legacy5
Sep 12, 2023
Hogwarts Legacy looks great, But the open world is full of repetitive and generally bring tasks that gives you no incentive to actually explore. The story wasn't particularly engaging, the bloated conversations feel dull. It's a good-looking game, the combat was fine but for me at least, the control scheme they went with is cumbersome making combat a lot less fluid that it could have been.

Super Mario Odyssey8
Sep 8, 2023
I'm new to the Switch and I was looking for a relaxing game that I could pick up and put down, Super Mario Odyssey definitely delivers. It's a really nice change of pace from the heavy duty games i've played on PS5 and PC lately, the art style is superb, the music is great and it takes me back to owning an N64 as a kid. Definitely a fun thing to pick up for those who are a little burnt out by what everyone else is putting out.

Star Trek: Resurgence4
Jul 19, 2023
I've been a fan of Star Trek since I was a kid, watching TNG after school was nothing short of a ritual for me and I've been looking forwards to playing this game (though I've always had my concerns). Star Trek Resurgence has a few good things going for it, it takes us back to a TNG era setting free of all the random mayhem, bloodshed, hypocrisy, drug use and F-Bombs that the current iterations of Trek provide (Picard i'm looking at you...) They have managed to recreate the look and feel of the older series quite well. That's basically all of the positives I have to say. The story is okay, but it would have taken an incredible bunch of writers to turn this fairly anemic plot into a 10 hour episode, and essentially that's what you're getting here because there is very little in the way of gameplay. Most of the "gameplay consists of (Hold LS) or (Press RT + Hold LS) or (Move RS and Press RT to scan). It's absolutely, without a doubt, the most basic mind-numbing experience I've ever come across in about 30 years of playing video games, and that's a shame. You don't really get to explore anything, you don't really get to wander your ship, you get to SEE things happening but you don't get the feeling your ever actually involved in this game at all. The controls are horrendous, pressing all the way to the right or left makes your reticle slowly crawl it's way to it's destination, and that's frustrating because half of this gameplay is like "Move this dot over that dot and press RT". If you're a die hard fan of Trek, you'll no doubt struggle your way through this and say "Okay, well I had a time". If you're not, you should avoid this at all costs coz it's not worth your Latinum. Live long and prosper, mother f****rs

Cyberpunk 20777
Jul 19, 2023
I have just finished my second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, my first playthrough was on PC at release, and my most recent playthrough on PS5. Replaying this game on console, in performance mode on my TV felt a bit more immersive however there were some issues straight out of the gate as I couldn't seem to configure my controls to feel snappy and responsive, I also experience frequent crashes, none of these entirely ruined the experience as save points weren't too bad, but it's still quite jarring and frustrating, this shouldn't be happening so many years after release. As for the game itself, CDPR clearly poured countless hours into creating the world but didn't populate it with enough side-content. There are some great side missions, but the vast majority of them are just boring cut and paste (go here, kill/steal that, leave), Vehicle handling is frustrating, taking some corners feels like you're driving on ice with how dramatically the car spins out, and there isn't a lot of variety to the vehicles themselves. Most are terrible, once I picked up the Caliban? I didn't need to bother with any other car. The main story is decent, the voice acting is solid and overall presentation is great. I enjoyed the gunplay and hacking mechanisms, I also enjoyed the fact I didn't have to mess around with stealth, if things go loud you don't fail the mission and run through it guns blazing if you choose. The item upgrade system is fundamentally flawed, I was at level 47 when I finished the game and did as much side content as I could stomach but I still couldn't fully upgrade my items. If you pick up an EPIC gun early on and upgrade it, it can end up more powerful than if you pick up a legendary later. Overall I enjoyed my second time around in this game, I expect the new DLC and rebalances will be good, the game is rough around the edges but in no way deserving of the nonsense 0/10 scores below, nor the ridiculous 10/10 scores.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun6
Jul 3, 2023
This game is generally ok, but with a few pretty major caveats. It gets a few extra points for being made by a small team and not over-charging for the game. The weapons in this game are meaty and fun to use, it does a good job of capturing the feeling of those early 90s shooters and the Art style is good too. The level design is pretty frustrating however, I would say a large chunk of my game time was spent running in circles trying to figure out which identical looking corridor I was supposed to have gone down. This really ruins the flow of the combat. The game loop is basically, find a key, to unlock a door, to find a key, to unlock a door, to find a key, to unlock a door that leads to a door which is the end of the level. Not very creative or interesting after the first few levels. The enemy types are just spawned haphazardly throughout the levels with no rhyme nor reason. The soundtrack was terrible, I'm not expecting nine-inch-nails or megadeath to anti up for a budget shooter, but something with a bit of presence would have been nice. My biggest gripe however, was the controls on the PS5. No matter what i did the input felt slow and floaty, which is really the one thing that should have been a focal point of the whole project! The closest comparison I would have for this game is Prodeus, and I'd say that is hands down the better game and doesn't have any of the issues listed above.

Aliens: Dark Descent5
Jun 28, 2023
Aliens Dark Descent is a war of atrophy, for me this war was both against my squad and my interest. I got to the second to last mission before I decided I'd had enough. The balance between suspense and fun just isn't right here, it's a laborious task to have to replay the same section (Particularly in the late game) where the AI just doesn't seem to stop "Stumbling" into your hiding spot. The game does a good job of capturing the look and feel of the Alien franchise (Outside of that one pretty ridiculous class of Humans with Aliens in their chest). The sound design is good, the levels are detailed. But unfortunately, I can't shake my frustration and boredom with this title so I will not be completing it. I'm sure this will do well with a good number of players who don't mind a grueling experience in their RTS. Would be nice if there was a pause function while looking at the map. There really should be a limit to enemies too, killing hundreds of Aliens with that having seemingly no effect to the infinitely spawning bad guys is pretty annoying.

Anno 1800 Console Edition4
Jun 19, 2023
This game is definitely going to be popular with a certain demographic of gamers, but for me the whole thing is far far too slow. As you enter a new technology phase you often have to re-juggle all of your resources, re-balancing as you go isn't a challenge but it's just dreadfully time consuming. I reached a point where my resources were stable and the end was in sight but then I realized I would have to spend countless hours waiting to build up an armada. A half dozen instantly built harbour turrets can annihilate a 15 strong fleet. I figured I could guess the outcome and stop wasting my time. I much preferred the previous titles where resource management wasn't a full time faff.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor6
Jun 2, 2023
I would love to give this game the score it deserves however this title wasn't really ready for release and lacked a lot of optimization. Performance: In performance mode on the PS5, the frames per second are all over the place, often bouncing between 45 and 50fps, and only really reaching the targeted 60fps in certain sections. You can also expect frequent screen taring. Combat: The combat feels a lot less fluid than the original game due to the fact the game spams a lot of various mobs, each enemy type seems to have an un-blockable attack and you can't interrupt your current action to block. The result is your left feeling more like a punching bag than a jedi. Parrying is also made awkward due to the frequent FPS drops. Story: Not much to be said here, it's fairly bland, the twists and turns are easy to predict, and some decisions and actions my characters are utterly non-sensical. Customization: There's definitely improvement here, no more ponchos and a little more to choose from. Still, not quite as diverse a selection as it could be. Presentation and level design: Levels look good, you seem to spend the bulk of your time on the same planet, and that planet is chocked full of tedious busywork which gets boring fast. Some of the platforming sections are extremely frustrating and quite badly designed. For the most part though the platforming is the better part of the game.

A Plague Tale: Requiem5
Jun 2, 2023
Seems as though this is another one of those polarizing games, but I find it hard to believe anyone could genuinely think this was a flawless, 10/10 experience. The level design is aesthetically great, but your journey through them is extremely linear. These endless walks between meaningful gameplay are filled with hours of mindless prattle, it seems like not one of the characters can keep their mouth shut for more than 5 seconds. This for me quickly went from endearing to irritating, sometimes less is absolutely more. Some of the puzzles had me a little stumped. Essentially as a game, it doesn't offer all that much gameplay and as a movie it tries to get far too much content out of such little plot leaving characters yammering on like a drunk uncle.

Dead Space5
Apr 22, 2023
5/10 - Loyal remake held back by stutters and technical issues The presentation in this game is pretty decent but there seems to be an issue with optimization here. My 2080s was using 60% of it's GPU while somewhat taxing my i7-10700k. The game often jumped between running as smooth as butter to random dips to much lower fps. Entering new areas caused issues too, which shouldn't be the case when running on an SSD on medium/high settings in 1080p. I managed to play the entire game without finding the line gun, I have no idea how that occurred but given that it was my favorite gun in the original it's pretty disappointing, I was being fairly thorough searching around the ship in every side room so god knows where it was hiding In any case, for all it's graphical improvements, the technical issues don't make up for the additions here. I'd rather replay the original.

Resident Evil 45
Apr 6, 2023
When the original Resident Evil 4 was released it marked the end of my interest in the Resident evil franchise, it was a departure from what I loved about the series and the tank controls were just awful. This remake drags the old game into the modern age, and unlike the original, I played this until its completion. With that said the game was still a big miss for me, the tonal shift from RE2 & RE3 is still too jarring, the story generally uninteresting and the gameplay a lot less survival horror and a lot more collect loot to upgrade your guns for the next shooting gallery. Level design is a bit of a let down, half the corridors you walk or rooms you enter have you wondering why they would exist, what's their purpose? The suspense is ruined by a constant barrage of cut and paste enemies with a few forgettable "Shoot the yellow bit" bosses along the way. IMO RE4 wasn't good back then, and it isn't good now. It's certainly playable, but also pretty missable.

The Callisto Protocol8
Dec 4, 2022
I'm giving this game a hesitant 7 out of 10, on the cusp of being an 8 but not quite. It would be impossible to not draw comparisons to Dead Space as this game is most definitely it's spiritual successor, as you're walking around stomping on boxes and dismembering limbs it gives you a good hit of nostalgia, but all the while I felt there was just something missing. The environments, though absolutely stunning, don't feel quite as purposeful or unique as in dead space, at points I had to wonder "Why on earth would they have these big corridors full of endless pipes, what on earth are these for?". This issue kinda extends to the enemy types too, they're pretty limited and you don't have those moments where a giant tentacle is dragging you down an airvent. A lot of people complain about the difficulty, and when I started out I was wondering if I could actually complete this game, but combat against standard enemies does get easier. With that said some of the boss encounters are frustrating as hell and I found myself dying just because I tried to dodge out of the way and got stuck in a corner. I don't mind a challenge, but playing the same arena a dozen or more times just because you walked into an unassuming area without enough ammo or health is pretty frustrating. Presentation here is a 10, I played in performance mode because i'm not a savage, the audio is great (Though I hit a few really strange issues through my headphones where there seemed to be just too much going on and it got fuzzy). The story is good, I just for some reason wasn't on the edge of my seat most of the time, ultimately the twist is painfully predictable from the get go. I enjoyed it, I'm not paying such a huge amount for the season pass unless that extra content turns out to be more than a cash grab.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart8
Oct 20, 2022
I haven't played any of the previous Ratchet & Clank games but thought I would give this one a shot. It's a great game that doesn't overstay it's welcome despite being semi-open world. Fun characters, excellent presentation and optimization and an entertaining story. There are a tonne of weapons to unlock which change your playstyle as the game progresses, the combat was fun and fairly intuitive. Well worth picking up if you want a break from those endless openworld busywork games.

Horizon Forbidden West6
Oct 20, 2022
Horizon Forbidden West doesn't quite live up to the previous installment, it's more Horizon but feels quite a bit more clunky and bloated to it's predecessor and would have been better if it had a more focused approach. It's another game that had me missing probably quite entertaining content because I was bored and just wanting to finish the main story. The combat in this game felt like a huge downgrade, weapons like the cannister rope gun seemed entirely pointless because the creatures move so fast it's impossible to actually ignite the cannisters once they've been attached. Maybe this is a different story on PC. Every dialogue interaction is so drawn out I found myself hitting skip, sometimes less is more. Pros: Excellent presentation Good map design and interesting locations Good weapon selection 60FPS for fluid gameplay Cons: Clunky combat Hours of quite boring dialogue Clunky controls (Swinging to hit an enemy and flopping off a cliff happened frequently) Unintuitive Control Scheme (I found myself pressing the wrong button constantly) Far too long (too many sidequests and too much filler content)

Dying Light 2 Stay Human4
Jul 25, 2022
To start with, the RTX implementation is terrible in this game. With RTX on everything is just way too dark, some people will defend this by saying "Night is supposed to be dark", but even in daytime there are huge dark areas. There isn't enough bounce lighting at all, so putting all RTX options on so you can see the pretty reflections and light affects at the cost of about -60fps means nothing because it's pitch black. With RTX off, everything looks washed out and terrible. And then there are the character model shadows, jesus, dead island released over 10 years ago and they're still getting this wrong!!! Your guy walks around with his arms stretched out like Boris Karloff from the 1930's movie Frankenstein! And finally, the gameplay... it's trash... parkour is fun enough, but it's just another boring bloated open world that isn't exciting to explore and the rewards for doing so are just as uneventful. I'm sorry I spent the money on this game.

The Last of Us Part II8
Apr 12, 2022
This game began by rubbing me up the wrong way, I'm sure many of you will have read reviews from former fans who felt slighted by the opening acts. But as this story unfolds and we delve deeper into the circumstances behind our protagonists actions, I can't help but applaud naughty dog for the direction they took this game in. The story is phenomenal, the atmosphere is incredible and the characters are both sympathetic and well written. This isn't a story of Heroes and villains, but one of tragedy, grief and the struggles along the way. Its just a shame this game doesn't get the rating it deserves due to review bombing morons giving it 0/10... you simply can't take those kinds of reviews into account, theres vapourware with higher reviews than that! I'd give this a 10/10, but some points have to be deducted for doing dirty like that, plus reports of crunch and not launching with multiplayer. Otherwise excellent work naughty dog!

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy8
Oct 31, 2021
Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy is a refreshing break from the torrent of micro-transaction laden "games as service" games out there. It's a linear single player experience with excellent visuals, a great story and is only let down by the combat mechanics which get fairly boring after a while. 10/10 - Presentation, the game looks absolutely stunning with RTX enabled and I generally see RTX as a gimmick. 10/10 - Story, this is what will keep you hooked and playing, tonnes of locations, characters and decent dialogue 6/10 - Combat/Gameplay, I hope there will be a sequel to this game with more Arkham/Spiderman style combat, it has some nice features like calling in your team to help but beyond that there's not much to do but hold the trigger down.

Watch Dogs: Legion6
Feb 17, 2021
Watch Dogs Legion makes an ambitious departure from it's old formula by introducing a new "Play as anyone" mechanic, this new addition allows you to play as one of dozens of the Jamaican or butch lady protagonists you can find on the street, if that's not to your liking you can play as an asian dude clearly voiced by a white irish guy. /s This new mechanic is a great idea that is poorly implemented, My first character was a suave looking black guy with a posh English accent, his personality oozed charisma and all credit goes to the voice actor, by my 6th mission however he was dead, and instead I found myself playing as a Jamaican guy as he was the only voice actor in my collection who wasn't irritating. This being a game set in london I was really looking forwards to playing as a relatable protagonist, I found one guy I sorta liked but he got killed in the next mission due to a bug, I ended up playing the rest of the game as a camp Gen Z bloke who was quirky enough but didn't really deliver much during the games climactic scenes. I think it would have been better if they hadn't made such broad strokes, focused on 12 or so characters and built them up more so that when you loose them you feel it. Sure you could say that more playable avatars leads to more variety but 95% of the operatives I encountered during my 30 hour playthrough were either Jamaican or Female, or like, just plain drab. London proved itself to be a great reproduction, the gameplay itself was solid and locations were well put together, there was a lot of effort put into some of these spots but quite often you'd be in and out in 3 minutes by dropping a spider drone from the sky exactly where you needed them to be. I felt a bit bad for the level designers! At the 30 hour mark the game was starting to outstay it's welcome, I definitely got my moneys worth and it was fun to play, there was just something about this game that didn't sell itself to me. Like, why was it that every British character spoke like "Wa gwan rude boi, dat car is peng" or just posh, where were the scousers, the mancs, the southerners, the brummies? London isn't only populated by Londoners and Jamaicans.

Excellent remake of the originals, there's a few convoluted things added in the background, like challenges that unlock boards and what have you, but at least it isn't paid cosmetics, the core game is just as good as it was in 1999! The controls are tight, the pacing is fast and it doesn't suffer from the same issues the old remake had. Most of the original soundtrack is back, with a few nice additions, plus a few I don't like but you can toggle those off in the menu. The blood spatter is gone when you stack, plus they have bleeped curse words in the music. Come on guys, i'm 36, make this an optional thing in game. So -1 point. The other drawback to this game is it's an "exclusive title" to epic games... Meaning I now have yet another game launcher installed with 1 title in it's library, while my steam account sits with 259. A bit frustrating because it's just more bloated crap to install, i'm dropping it another point for that.

This game kinda feels like a tech demo, and a fairly janky one at that. It's great that they are trying to give you a physical presence in game but more often than not it results in feeling more clumsy than immersive. For Vive Cosmos users, or users with base-station free headsets you may find it impossible to use two handed weapons, devs please add a shoulder stock option so that the weapon snaps in place when using 2 hands. I've played a fair bit of the single player, but i've kinda wandered off. I'm not sure what the story is and i've been playing it a few hours now. Performance for me is a bit lackluster using a 6GB RTX 2060, an intel i7-9750H and 16GB Ram. I'm not going to recommend it just yet, maybe if changes are made. I would wager the only reason this games score is so high is due to voter manipulation, giving the game 10/10.

Being a fan of this movie since I was a youngin' I've always felt pretty let down by Alien games. Alien AVP was a decent FPS for the time, there were a few disappointing installments for the playstation, a dodgey campaign in the AVP reboot and of course Aliens Colonial Marines which visually wasn't terrible but lacked heavily in gameplay. Alien Isolation has done an amazing job at **** me in, this game is intense and visually stunning and it does and incredible job of recreating the look and the feel of the first movie. It's like being able to experience the first Alien movie all over again, with the added terror of not being able to glance away from the screen. Huge congrats to the developers for nailing this. I would say people who voted this a 0 (The user Howard for example) are mentally deficient internet trolls.

Many people here seem to be complaining about performance issues without stating their card. I'm running the game on a GT 635m, It runs alright with no shadows on at 1360x768, Textures Medium, V-Sync on and Tripple buffering, I also went into the Geforce Control panel and manually enabled FXAA which cleans up those edges without destroying frame rate. As for gameplay, I just found it boring. The physics are good but the storyline is pretty tedious, I can't relate to the main charactor because he seems to be a **** head and no matter how you dress him he looks like a tramp. The whole game world is grey with some kind of weird bloom so without mods it's even ugly to explore. There are better games out there, Sleeping Dogs/Saints Row both do a better job of entertaining open world gaming.
