Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX1
Oct 5, 2025
First of all, I have beaten the original game several times and I love it. Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is probably the worst remake of a very old game. The programming is awful. The optional reworked controls are terrible. The soundtrack is worse than the original and the graphics, while nicely drawn, are washed out. I needed to switch to original graphics for beating some bosses. The controls are not responsive and the frame rate is criminal. They missed this chance to add description of the items in the shop and a few useful tips for newcomers, instead of silly dialogue with tiny font. If you turn infinite lives on, you still get extra lives from the random blocks. There are lethal underwater bubbles that look tiny and inoffensive in this version. There is a spot in the desert where you can get stuck, a new level precisely, and have to restart the level. Worst of all, the developer hasn't used any of the updates to fix any of these issues. Basically, everything is worse than in the original game.

The idea is interesting as some kind of 3D puzzle, but I think they screwed the execution up: controls, navigation, rewards, variety, inventory. I would recommend almost any other puzzle game before this and Resident Evil Remake for mansion exploration.

Luigi's Mansion 34
Jan 16, 2025
Positive:
+ Good humour.
+ The animation is nice, but unexpected animation and the 30fps frame rate make control stiff and often frustrating.
+ Ghosts have more personality than those in Luigi's Mansion 2.
+ Some floor have interesting puzzles and are fun to explore. Negative:
- Controls are more complicated and less intuitive than in previous entries.
- Puzzles and boss battles can be extremely confusing even for veteran players.
- Exploring the game later on for gems and hidden boos is not funny because all the regular ghosts respawn. Because of this, all the stages of the playthrough feel like a constant chore. As soon as you're having fun with something, the game will ruin the experience somehow.
- How worthless E. Gadd Hotline can be.
- Unforgiving level design limits experimentation.
- It's not as magical as Luigi's Mansion 1 and not as playable as 2.
- I found a glitch during the annoying floor 11 boss battle that forced me to restart the game.
- More unfair than challenging, more torture than fun and less enjoyable than both 1 and 2.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster1
Jan 3, 2025
I played the last-gen version and, after I got used to its demanding gameplay, I loved it! Perhaps, it's too gory, but it's also comical, deep and the gameplay gets expanded and improved progressively. It has an intriguing story, too. Dead Rising has that hardcore Resident Evil Remake level design where you need to save at certain spots and try different strategies between save points, which is something that is as dated as terribly challenging, fun and addictive. In spite of some problems managing survivors, the game is clever, engaging and enjoyable. The first problem with this second remaster of the original game is the trendy censorship. For instance, it's okay to show a cruel Caucasian, but not a cruel Asian. Political and sexy elements have been removed and replaced with nonsense. The graphical upgrade of the Deluxe Remaster is not that impressive and the latest remaster also ruins the original gameplay, making the Xbox One/PS4/original Windows version the definitive version.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle10
Dec 23, 2024
Don't get me wrong, I love some mindless action, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has traditional mechanics that challenge the intelligence of the players, with difficult puzzles that are still logical, unlike other games where you have to solve them by reverse-engineering the random procedure of the developer. This game has no automatic gameplay nor linear progression. It's a combination of the best of the old and the best of the new. It's intelligent but not a time waster, with excellent level design, stunning graphics and beautiful music surrounding the player. Besides the all **** soldiers are stupid as a way to tread carefully, the rest of the script is believable and the cultural value of ancient cultures in this game is remarkable. On top of the rewarding content everywhere, there are even tiny quests that are not even tracked, that makes the world really alive and even more interesting to explore. This is a game I almost thought it could not be possible in 2024 and I'm so glad that it exists, because it's the best game of 2024.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess9
Sep 3, 2024
Path of the Goddess belongs to a combination of genres: beat 'em up, real-time strategy and tower defence. It's inspired by classics, like Little King's Story, Okami and Pikmin. At the same time, it's brand new, deep and poorly explained to the player, so much that you'll likely enjoy "new game plus" quite more, thanks to your experience, unlocked upgrades and additional challenges. Path of the Goddess is challenging and, once you learn the ropes, it's satisfying and addictive, ultimately pure old-school quality. Technically, it runs smoothly and looks beautiful on Series X. The sound is all good, but I recommend setting the scarce voice acting to Japanese, because everything else is so Japanese. If you have a bit of patience and appreciate the purer gameplay of previous generations, you'll probably love Capcom's newest game.

Sea of Stars6
Apr 22, 2024
Disclaimer: I do like RPGs. Sea of Stars is one that has its combat heavily based on timing, that gets repetitive and annoying five minutes later and still is repetitive and annoying by the end of the game. The story is mildly entertaining, but the gameplay is dull. The writing is so-so, with some video games clichés jokes and interesting stories by the campfire, but otherwise inane. No clear objectives sometimes, interrupted flow and no maps available in the dungeons nor in the world mean additional frustration. While the graphics inspired by 16-bit RPGs are really nice, the music is so-so, with some exceptions. Some of the songs are as tacky as Tee Lopes's original work. In any case, you can tell that this game was crafted with care, love and time. It's packed with tons of different enemies, a secret ending and it's charming enough to be played because of the graphics, animation and story but, ultimately, it's boring and routine. It didn't make me feel anything at all until the second half and I don't mean just emotions but also interest. The writing and the gameplay are its worst enemy, from the many it has in store. 6/10

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom0
May 13, 2023
Tears of the Kingdom is another massively overrated Nintendo game but, this time, is even worse, because it's basically DLC that recycles the same map with additional barren areas. The voice acting still is awful, embarrassing and minimal because Nintendo didn't want to pay for more than 1% of the lines. Zelda's voice is cringe-worthy, again. This sequel is the same thing but more expensive. Weapons still break like glass and the UI still is a nightmare that you have to deal with constantly during the action. The story is hollow and pointless and the NPC and side quests are all boring. The game is not really a The Legend of Zelda game but an indie sandbox game like Breath of the Wild but with more sandbox elements like fusion, limited and boring vehicle building and so on. The "dungeons" that are mentioned by the critics that say that this game is a masterpiece are even worse than in the prequel. The music is still minimal and also recycled and the graphics are ever worse with worse performance. Gameplay is boring and frustrating and story is bare-bones. Let's be real, what would the score be if this game wasn't made by Nintendo and the critics were impartial and professional? Tears of the Kingdom is shamelessly overrated just like Breath of the Wild. I am a Zelda fan and these two games aren't what I consider Zelda games and are not masterpieces either. There is no doubt on my mind that Nintendo has influenced the critics and that their fans are defending things that they wouldn't defend if the games were made by another company.

Sonic Generations10
Dec 18, 2021
Sonic Generations has tight and complete controls for both Sonics. The level design is great. The level themes are purposely a greatest hits of the main Sonic games. The music is cool and you can customise it per level. You can unlock a lot of extras including songs and visual art. The missions/extra levels are for the most part interesting. Getting a S rank on each level is fulfilling because learning the level layout allows you to gain momentum and it's immensely satisfying to beat your record and not die to get the S rank. Finding the red coins extends the replay value even more. There are not many boss battles but the selection is perfect. Now the game runs at 60fps in 4K on Series X and it has never been better. This is the best Sonic 3D game, it's fun, it looks great, it sounds good and it has a lot of content.

Sonic Forces1
Dec 18, 2021
Sonic Forces has levels that are either shallow, gimmicky and boring or just broken, with just a few exceptions in the whole game. Sonic 3D controls are correct but incomplete, lacking Drift and Air Dash. Sonic 2D controls are decent. Avatar's controls are a mess, the character goes from walking to dashing in a second, even if you slightly press the stick and this results in cheap deaths because of the levels that don't fit in this control scheme because you have to walk longer than a second before jumping and just before jumping you accidentally dash and fall off. The first levels of Sonic Forces are disappointing and the last levels are infuriating. Two boss battles are fine and creative (Zavok and Mystic Jungle Infinite), two of the three battles against Infinite are confusing and the final battle is challenging in the wrong way. The music and presentation is the best that the game has to offer, since the story relies too heavily on negative feelings and death in a serious way instead of cartoony and comical like before. The first time you play the game you'll get tons of notices with useless cosmetics for your avatar. This is not the worst Sonic game ever but it's certainly the most disappointing. If Sonic Generations is 10/10, this is 1/10.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild7
Mar 30, 2017
As a Zelda fan, I consider Breath of the Wild a good game but it's not as perfect as most reviewers say because: 1. Poor acting choices (Zelda) If you decide to include a few (and just a few) voices in the game just do it right! Zelda has always been one of my favourite characters since Ocarina of Time. She was mysterious, daring and somehow cool. I'm so disappointed with her ridiculously trembling voice that no one can believe nor take seriously. There are a few other issues with the game but Zelda's voice is something that could have been chosen right easily! 2. Frustrating climbing It rains a lot in Breath of the Wild and whenever it rains, you can't climb. It's that simple. I was stuck on an island with no shrines around and no way to make fire but I wanted to explore it anyway. All I could do was wait a long while until I was able to climb to keep checking the island. Another good example is when you are near the top of the mountain and then it starts raining and you fall all the way down. Lovely! To make things worse, 90% of the terrain requires climbing. 3. Disappointing dungeons (including the mystical ones) I firmly believe that they are the worst in the series. Mostly, they are superficial and gimmicky. 4. Awkward inventory system You have to eat food to restore hearts and stamina in a pause menu which feels very awkward to do while climbing and fighting. Also, all weapons break easily so you have to hold right to open the weapons menu and select another weapon in the middle of almost every single fight, which literally breaks the action. 5. Technical issues (choppy frame rate and game freezing) Noticeable technical issues don't make a good game bad but they are detrimental to the enjoyment of the game, period. 6. Visuals are good and bad Some places look quite good, like the beaches and sea, while other places look not exactly pointillist but just blurry a la Skyward Sword. 7. Music (where?) Seriously, where's the music? All you are going to hear most of the time is some short harmonies (no, it's not your phone's notifications) or background sounds. And why did they replace the old ranch music with the new and much worse one? Zora's music is still awesome but it's drowned in the water and can hardly be heard. Conclusion I still like the game quite much regardless of its issues but after over 80 hours I can't see why it should be considered the best Zelda game ever. Reviewers will admit this eventually, once enough time has passed by. There are a few articles daring to say so already. I think some hidden Switch marketing is the reason for many websites to crown Breath of the Wild. Nevertheless, it's a good game that is so overrated.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD10
Mar 30, 2017
I have always loved Twilight Princess. The HD version could have been better, but even though I admit that Twilight Princess HD release trailer did not properly show it, Twilight Princess HD is a much bigger upgrade than The Wind Waker HD. Basically, all textures are new, from the grass of Hyrule to any painting in Snowpeak Ruins. The resolution boost is far more noticeable than in Wind Waker HD, because Twilight Princess is naturalistic and Wind Waker is toon. The game looks nicer and crisper than ever. I love Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, they both are absolutely wonderful games that no one in this world should miss, but I dare to say that Twilight Princess is the best The Legend of Zelda game ever, because: · It's absolutely full of the best features in the series, · the story is original and dark, · it doesn't seem to be continuously censoring itself, · it has a huge amount of varied things to do and places to visit, · it's never cheap backtracking unlike Skyward Sword, · it's not huge but shallow like Breath of the Wild, · The naturalistic visuals are the best in the series this far, specially in the HD version, and they fit best the nature settings of the series and the emphasis on making the player feeling an adventurer. · The dungeons are unique and really clever (feel more intelligent by not using any guide). · Midna is not a cheesy or annoying mentor (hello, Skyward Sword, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks). · The combat has some tweaks and twists including additional techniques, but it's not unnecessary complex. · You can be Link, his wolf form, you can ride Epona or a Bullbo, you can fly hang off a Twilit Carrier Kargarok... · There are cool mini games and side quests. · The soundtrack includes great old songs plus some interesting new melodies. · It's not too similar to Ocarina of Time as some people say. The people who think Twilight Princess is ugly are people that don’t like its dark tone. Twilight Princess is an outstanding game that conveys better than any other Zelda game all its content and intentions. Twilight Princess is arguably the best game Nintendo has ever made.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate8
Jul 12, 2016
I had an awesome time with Monster Hunter Tri. That game was almost perfect: best visuals Wii could deliver and best online service in a Nintendo console ever, including keyboard support and even Wii Speak (even though that device failed to work decently). Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is a step forward regarding content and gameplay, but it is also a step backwards considering 3DS hardware limitations, most importantly, the very low resolution of the screen (on both standard and XL models) which makes it much harder to notice items and to enjoy the visuals. Obviously, 3DS does not support any keyboard and the chat options are much more limited this time, which is a problem in a game that relies heavily on team work. As a single player experience is a solid one but as a multiplayer experience is not as solid as it used to be. Besides, this game makes evident how poor the 3DS screen is. The 3D effect feels a bit tiring in this game, probably because of the big environments fitted in a small screen. This time there is no HD version like last time (Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate), so this is the only version you can get (same for newer Monster Hunter Generations). Oh, and you'll need the Circle Pad Pro or New 3DS if you want to control the camera in a natural way. If you can forgive the hardware limitations, there's a solid game here for you, but I can't wait to see the franchise in HD again. It can't be soon enough.

Star Fox Zero0
Jul 4, 2016
I don’t know where to begin with. The controls are absolutely broken, they are not immersive as I expected but unnecessary complicated, feels more a gimmick than anything. Not that I feel inside a Arwing arcade thanks to the GamePad screen but like somebody gave me two different controllers and two different screens for playing a simple game. Frustration is the word. The visuals are meh, 720p with frames dropping frequently. The level design is certainly uninspired. It’s not a pretty game. About the sound, it’s almost impossible to hear well what Fox’s friends are saying because the sound comes from the GamePad so I miss a lot of important information. It looks like a launch Wii U game that was designed for showing off what the GamePad can be used to, but I wonder if the Wii U wouldn’t have a worse reputation if Star Fox Zero was released in 2012. Probably as a GameCube game with a normal controller it would have impressed and gain more excitement, but as it is, it’s quite bad. I feel extremely disappointed. Save your money. If you have a 3DS get Star Fox 64 3D for much less money. Why would you prefer Star Fox Zero that only recycles ideas and have so many issues? Even if you only have a Wii U, you can get Star Fox 64 that is much better for 10 bucks. Conclusion: mediocre soundtrack with mediocre remixes, boring dialogues, lifeless environments, poor replay value, no real multiplayer mode, no online mode, tiresome boss battles, really poor story and connection between characters, cumbersome tracking system, horrible sound design with lack of options, horrible visual design... And I haven't mentioned the controls.

Mini-Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge5
Apr 30, 2016
Mini-Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge is a Mini-Mario game that requires amiibo figurines to play. First of all, you need one of them to start playing using that character. You basically go the linear path and in the meantime you unlock ten exclusive character worlds using compatible amiibos. Also, each of the compatible amiibo has a special power, but you will only see that power in the four-level exclusive world of that particular amiibo. Each amiibo’s main mission is to collect specific cards with their face on them, so you’ll have to replay the same levels with different amiibos to collect them all, which is far from appealing. Once you have enough cards, you will be able to unlock levels in the “special world”. These few levels are the only levels that will be challenging for most players. The rest of the levels are easy, although they combine different gameplay styles that we have seen in the series before. For example, you can put and erase pink blocks like in Mario vs. DK: Minis March Again. There are also new features that create a varied gameplay. The soundtrack has some lazy remixes of classic Nintendo themes that will bring back memories of the more experienced players like myself. The visuals are simple and nice. You’ll need to hold the GamePad/3DS console with one hand and the stylus with the other hand, it’s that kind of gameplay. If you only have one or two amiibo, this game is a long demo. If you have the ten of them that the game specifically requires, it's a short and easy game, except for a few levels of the special world. If you have many amiibos, the game is an easy recommendation as you don’t have to pay any more. If you are planning to buy amiibos for playing this game, just don’t do it.
