Went into this game pretty much blind, only knew it had a deck building mechanic. Which I do enjoy. And after playing a while, found a game with heart, beautiful art style and nice mix of genres from roguelike to lite RPG & solid and fun deck builder in-between. This was a nice surprise and I highly recommend

Astro Bot10
Sep 8, 2024
I've been gaming for over 40 years. I could rattle on about the nuances about where gaming is, & people's opinions of it in relation to a game like this. But it's all pointless on the face of what Team Asobi have managed here. Astro Bot makes me feel so damn happy! The feelings I got when I was gaming on my Amstrad CPC 464 in the mid to late 80's. Or that I got sharing gaming experiences with friends on my Master System, NES, Mega Drive or SNES between when I was 10-15. And finally the amazing gaming experiences I had on the PlayStation 1 & 2 in my late teens & early 20's. I love gaming, but slowly the fun, heart & spirit of what gaming was as an event, an experience, as a 'stop me in my tracks, did this game just do that' feeling, sadly for me started to leak away in the last 15 years or so. Astro Bot has restored my faith, & I sincerely hope Sony takes notice, & remembers they used to have a lot of games that hit this hard. Don't get me wrong, I love The Last of Us, Ghost of Tshushima, God of War etc. But not every game Sony, has to be 30 hour, 250 million dollar huge narrative power houses... Sony, remember where you came from & the smaller games that made people sit up & take notice. Astro Bot is a non stop joy, full of nostalgic gaming traits & not only visual nostalgic, it's deeper, right to what gaming was, what gaming meant. Oh look, I rambled on anyway lol. Anyway, superb game, superbly hits all the senses. This is how games were & it is so good to see it is still possible to surprise, entertain & above all leave a lasting beautiful satisfaction that I & I'm sure many others will remember as a peak gaming memory. Last game to hit me anywhere close to this way, was Journey. Bravo Team Asobi... Bravo. Spectacular 10/10

The Making of Karateka10
Jan 8, 2024
Amazing. This took me back 40 years in such a detailed & structured manner. Remastered & beautiful Karateka. With original & bonus prototype game modes. A full & detailed documentary, history & everything in-between make this such a fantastic package. Like Atari 50 before it. These game/history hybrids are amazing. More please as this is a perfect way to spend a few hours.

Horizon Forbidden West10
Feb 21, 2022
Firstly it must be said, the magic Guerrilla Games have worked to get this running so beautifully on not only PS4 Pro but on 9 year old base PS4.... astounding .In every single way after 40 hours of play this game surpasses its predecessor. & I may add, Horizon Zero Dawn for me, was beyond doubt an amazing game with an astoundingly addictive & intriguing narrative. Horizon Forbidden West is, simply put, a tour de force of firstly gaming, but also how to make a sequel. Amazing

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut10
Apr 1, 2021
This is unmissable, still so much to see, experience & experiment with. But Disco Elysium does something so few games have done in my near 4 decades of gaming. It feels nostalgic, makes me feel so many tangled emotions & above all will not let me put it down. I have many games I love, some I have given full 10 out of 10 marks too. But this is a 10+ if there can ever be such a thing. What a absolute tour de force in narrative, expressive gaming perfection! You would be doing yourself a massive injustice & denying yourself one of the best & most intricately bizarre gaming experiences ever if you let it pass you by. 100% recommendation without, I have no doubt at all.

Madden NFL 210

Thank goodness I bought this on disc, getting money back. Thought I'd dip back into Madden after 3 year gap as I never buy sports games year on year. 3 year gap is least I'll do. So to my amazement, loads taken out, nothing really added. It is glitchy as hell and they should pay us to play it. Terrible!!! Avoid!

The Last of Us Part II10

The story beats of this game versus the original all tie in really well for me. The pacing and sheer brutal realism is both impacting & shocking. But also truthful to the subject matter. I absolutely loved it. One of my experiences of this generation.

What a super fun, off the wall indie gem. Great sense of humor and delivers a good solid portion of that always needed 'something different'. Really enjoyable, and for me fun to replay. Love it

I came at this game like I do any game, with an open mind and empty expectations. I found many years ago if you come to a game with pre determined ideas, whether positive or negative, it can ruin the actual experience you get. And I love experiences, especially if they are new and unique. Now, I'm not going to rattle on, as doubt this review will be read by many. But this game is to cut a long story short, absolutely amazing! I see people saying it's just a delivery Sim, or it's boring. Well everyone is of course allowed their opinion, but they in my opinion have missed what Hideo Kojima

Concrete Genie10

This game has been flying under the radar since its announcement at 2017's October Paris Games Week. Yet another Sony exclusive! And boy what a fun time I've been having. It is a fantasticly original concept, creative and rewarding with a good story too. I won't go on here as spoilers abound, so all I'll say is I highly recommend this, especially at the great release price. I was between a 9 or 10 but the fun originality wins it full marks. Not too many new concept games out there. And I absolutely love this. Bravo Pixel Opus

Days Gone10

This game is massively misunderstood. The aiming of guns is so refreshing. Hundreds of games just make it easy to snap on and boom bad guy dead. The loose aim is so much more realistic with the added panic the situations evoke. I lovd the repair system and the panic that can also cause. The hordes are heart bracingly organic, it just feels so good. Massive world, a fun and intense world, great voice acting by the lead. Just a great game and another

Final Fantasy VII10
Oct 18, 2014
I'm in my mid 30's now, but I clearly remember reading a preview of Final Fantasy VII back in late 1995 when the original Playstation was still in its infancy. I loved the concept, and followed its development as best as I could in those pre internet days. Then it was released, in a vast hype build up and usually when you have so much hype, the game blows and **** simultaneously... But how right all the reviews and hype was. This game defined my gaming life for years. and to a degree it still does. The story, the characters, the twists, plot development and music. It ticked every box several times. A tour de force of how to make a game that is worth 10 times its price. Anyone who did not like this game, well I feel sad for them. And anyone that found this game recently who is young, and is criticising it for its dated look etc. Jog on kiddies, you have no idea what your missing. There are hundred of games I love, but this, this is my mount Everest of gaming. There is no game more perfect in my humble opinion.
