Mickey 179
Apr 7, 2025
★★★★★ Mickey 17 is a triumph of science fiction storytelling—smart, stylish, and profoundly human. While the trailer hinted at a quirky sci-fi premise, it hardly scratched the surface of what this film delivers. What unfolds on screen is not just a visual spectacle but a deeply layered and emotionally resonant experience that will stick with audiences long after the credits roll. Directed with precision and heart, the film balances philosophical depth with surprising humor and warmth. It explores identity, mortality, and the meaning of existence in a world where death is optional—but never without cost. The writing is sharp, filled with thoughtful dialogue and clever narrative turns that avoid clichés and instead forge a path that feels entirely fresh. Pacing-wise, Mickey 17 is a masterclass. It moves with intention, taking time to build its world and characters without ever dragging. Every scene feels meaningful, and every character decision carries weight. It's a rare sci-fi film that doesn’t rely on explosions or spectacle to keep you engaged—though when the action does arrive, it's executed with flair and purpose. The cast delivers across the board, bringing nuance and depth to roles that could’ve easily fallen flat in lesser hands. They are captivating—quietly powerful, subtly complex, and emotionally grounded. Supporting roles elevate the story rather than distract from it, each contributing to a world that feels both fantastical and eerily familiar. Most impressively, Mickey 17 dares to be both entertaining and intellectually rich. It’s the kind of movie that invites conversation and reflection. It’s layered enough to reward rewatching and accessible enough to resonate with a wide audience. Over time, this one is destined to become a cult classic—if not a genre-defining milestone. A new sci-fi essential. Don’t sleep on Mickey 17.

A Minecraft Movie2
Apr 7, 2025
★★☆☆☆ A Minecraft Movie is less a cinematic experience and more a 90-minute sales pitch for a game that didn’t need the help. Despite the potential for creativity in adapting one of the most iconic video games of all time, the film stumbles hard, delivering a flat, forgettable ride that feels like a rushed cash grab. Jack Black, usually a scene-stealer, phones it in with a performance that somehow lacks his signature charm, energy, and comedic timing. It's almost as if he was trying to be someone else entirely—and failing. Jason Momoa, surprisingly, wasn’t the worst part. While far from great, he manages to be mildly watchable, mostly because everyone else fades so far into the background that he's the only one left on screen worth noticing. The rest of the cast? Unremarkable. Voices blur together, characters have the depth of a cardboard cutout, and any attempt at emotional connection is quickly undermined by bland dialogue and uninspired animation choices. The villain, if you can call them that, feels like an afterthought—barely threatening, barely relevant, and completely lacking any compelling motive or presence. You’re left wondering if the conflict was ever meant to matter at all, or if it was just there to vaguely stitch the scenes together. In the end, A Minecraft Movie does little more than remind you how much more fun it is to just go play the game instead. A disappointment even for fans, and a misfire that deserved way more care and creativity than it got.

Made2

I’m genuinely surprised this film has such a high user rating on MetaCritic. While Made starts off with some promise, making you curious about what might happen next, it quickly becomes irritating as the plot loses steam and lacks any real substance by the end. Vince Vaughn essentially repeats his usual shtick from other movies, irritating everyone around him with a lot of incessant talking for basically the entire film, it was super annoying. I was waiting for Jon Favreau to simply tell Vince to shut up in about 4 scenes, the movie itself feels poorly thought out. It’s not that it doesn’t make sense, but there isn’t much depth or direction. The humor is just mediocre at best; but completely forgettable, leaving you wondering if it’s even trying to be a comedy. This movie ****.

More left-wing propaganda from Netflix, supported by left wing media outlets, thank God the public mostly knows better than to support this communist.
