MLB The Show 225
Apr 8, 2022
Somehow, someway... the game has gotten worse. It's still not optimized for XBOX, works poorly on Switch, and the only version to buy is the PS4 version, unless you like to listen to godawful music while playing. The new "commentary" repeats itself far more often than the previous group, and it makes you miss Vasgersian almost immediately. Not that I liked DeRosa much, but Singleton is about as dry and boring as they come. No visual improvements whatsoever, and now the game is far too easy. It's time for a MASSIVE facelift. We actually LOST a game in RBI, which was steadily getting far better, to be monopolized with THIS!? Unacceptable

Boring and monotonous, this game is a downgrade from the original, which had a more balanced blend of offline and only-only modes. It's extremely frustrating to get a game like this, find out you MUST play online to accomplish anything, and furthermore, it's loaded with microtransactions. It feels like a bloated, simple mobile game, as opposed to a robust, $50 console and PC title.

DOOM 4 didn't grab me at first, but this one. Oh boy. Even buying the full package for $30, what a godawful experience. Where's Deathmatch!? Where's that trademark DOOM music we came to love? Why do the weapons not feel like they do anything? The Super Shotgun, hardly a relic from the past, has become a weak, wimpy throaway. I don't want a hook attached to the damned thing, where's the bullet spread, like in DOOM 2!? This game is an insult to PC Gamers, especially: Visuals: 4/5 Sound Design: 2/5 Controls: 1/5 Fun Factor 1/5

This is the worst version of the game I've played in probably 12 years of owning the game. Basic features are broken, the menus are a DIASASTER, and there's bugs galore. I kid you not, R.B.I. Baseball 21 will be superior to The Show by the middle of the decade, given how much is being added and fixed in MLBAM's game vs. how much The Show simply puts on Diamond Dynasty, while throwing away any care for the other modes, which is what the historian's gobble up. To first-timers of the Show, this is a nice addition to GamePass, but the controls, the sluggish framerates, and the amount of Legends REMOVED from last year's game are things you may not realize have changed since 20. The create-a-player customization has actually LOST options over the years, and the visuals have not improved. Chalk most of this up to the fact that next-gen was released, but not available to every consumer readily. Get RBI if you're gonna buy a fun baseball game this year, and rent this via GamePass.

This is a full-fledged MLB-licensed game for your iPhone, and it's amazing! The pitching is incredibly fun, the hitting has options for just about any style of play, and now you can create your favorite players of all-time and even edit existing players, to a degree. Lighting, stadiums, and characters models are at the best they've been, and if you take a look at Andre Dawson, Chipper, Jones, Vlad Guerrero, etc, they look incredible. Minus the obvious bugs, and I don't dock the score much for this, because this team's had a heckuva busy last two years with all the craziness going on, especially being located in NYC, I'm amazed at how ambitious an offering this is. MLB Advanced Media hears your pleas! Be kind, tell them what you'd like to see fixed, recreate the issue for them, toss in a few ideas of your own, and you'll be surprised what comes to the game soon after, whether it's fixed that year or added down the road. I wanted to give the game a 9, but they definitely need to start addressing hitting the cut-off man, the speed of the pitches not being able to be adjusted, throwing the ball to the middle of nowhere, etc. Great game, overall, however, and excellent controls for a mobile title!

R.B.I. Baseball 2110

The original RBI Baseball has a place in the hearts of many long-time video game players. RBI 95 was a HUGE step forward not many got to play. RBI 14 saved XBOX users from not having an MLB-licensed MLB game at all. And this year, I'm just speechless. Amid one of the worst global plagues in history, this small development team put together quite the gem. It's fun to pitch, fun to field, to hit, and you can adjust the game with sliders, finally, to make it play how YOU want it to. Albeit every game comes out with some glitches/bugs, I haven't hit anything that's broken the game for me. As a player creator for MLB The Show, this is my favorite feature, by far. Remember, this is its first year doing this, but the clean player models they added in 18/19 are now at our disposal, including several popular hairstyles, tons of face sculpts, facial hair, hair colors, etc. Though some need some tweaking, sending the folks a simple message over Facebook with a request (politely!) goes a LONG way. They're taking notes, and they do listen. At $29.99, we now have a baseball game that is showing me that this will be a version to be remembered, for years to come, with lighting and stadium realism like no other game on the market. Given the short time this title has been around after its resurrection, they've come a LONG way, and with 165 EDITABLE legends included, you can tweak them to reflect them during the part of their careers that you remember best. Names like Kevin Millar are always great to see, and you won't find just the usual suspects here. I can't put the game down once I start, there's online play finally on the Switch version, and the PC version will definitely attract the modding crowd. Get a copy, save your Microsoft Rewards. $30 for game of $60 quality, a game that feel like an actual video game, not a pretty simulation with stiff controls, is what the doctored ordered during Spring Training. Back to creating and playing Franchise games with my all-time rosters! I know people rave rose-colored glasses for MVP 05. I still have copies of that game, and it played very well. This has a killer soundtrack and it's a new licensed MLB title by MLB themselves for your PC! Make your life easy this year. Play the crap outta RBI 21.

Good, but not great! It seems like they ham-fisted a couple new modes in, but failed to address many of the issues and missing Legends from MLB 18, only added a few this year, and they don't look very good, i.e. John Smoltz. Use the Vault for better versions.

Mortal Kombat 117
May 2, 2019
The team at Netherealm still have a long way to go to excel with the likes of Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, and Tekken. Mortal Kombat 11 feels like a mobile game from the second you start it, with crap all over the screen, a million different types of currency to maintain, and a heavy reliance on their servers to be continually up in order to receive any rewards from your fights. Though each character is given the royal treatment with options for customization, they would have fared better to provide a better roster. A paltry 24 characters, with notable exclusions, seems ill-fitted to a franchise with at least 35 memorable dossiers.

For $29.99 on release day, great visuals, smooth fielding, etc., it's a pretty darn good product. Comparing it to other baseball games on the market is silly, because it's an ARCADE game, not a simulation, though the team at MLBPA has obviously tried to really step it up the past two years. There are some bugs, but overall, it's a really fun game, and we get weekly roster updates, every Friday during the season!

May 29, 2017
I'm reviewing this post 1.07, where the game is now extremely stable. The continued hate should be directed at EA, not necessarily Bioware Montreal, who obviously busted their tails; no Mass Effect would live up to expectations. Enjoy it for what it is, play through the entire story, and if you're intelligent enough to understand the scope, you'll find a killer experience. The multiplayer alone has given my friends and I hundreds of extra hours of enjoyment!

I'm not sure I've ever been part of a buggier launch. Not only are there ongoing server woes, matchmaking doesn't work, period, if you're on this platform, and furthermore, the game continually crashes, players get clipped inside cabinets for the duration of the game, etc. The melee combat is worse than a Bethesda game, too! Giving it a 5 is generous, because I don't see the majority of these issues being fixed. Those that gave Andromeda lower scores should rethink themselves. Just because this is in Indie developer, doesn't give them a free pass. We GAVE them our hard-earned money to make something good. Damn, even Mighty No. 9 didn't have these kinds of issues.

I buy this every year, and it continually gets better. The wall jumps and fielding are some of the smoothest I've enjoyed in a baseball video game, and while feeling more modern than the old RBI titles of days past, it still retains the presence of the game I owned way back in 1989! Keep up the great work!

Instead of MLB The Slow, which is the same thing year-after-year, we have two options for baseball games now. And as an old school gamer, I prefer RBI far more. The games are quick, the controls intuitive, and most of all, it's actually fun. One thing MLB The Show never nailed is fun factor. It's a great simulation, but it swings and misses on just about everything that makes a video game an ACTUAL game, which is what this is. For $20, RBI Baseball is an excellent option!

The game certainly isn't perfect, but it's incredibly fun. It feels like a true successor to Megaman 8 and Megaman X, simultaneously. The game plays fast, fun, and furious. How do you take a great new IP from 2008 and make it's sequel (prequel) trash? Wait 8 years, release it with last generation visuals, and make a bland "open" world, where the momentum of the first game is basically gone. And seriously, this should have been sequel, not a prequel. No one cares about the backstory.

May 13, 2016
It's complete garbage, and let's talk briefly about why. When you play it, do you feel like you're playing the shooter that started it all? Does this feel like DOOM 1, 2, or even 3? Not at all. The enemies aren't scary, the gunplay is hit or miss, the soundtrack is non-existent. If you want good throwback shooters, buy Rise of the Triad, Serious Sam 3, or something else, but not this. Besides, after Dead Space, this series is just a joke.

Mega Man Legacy Collection10
Sep 18, 2015
Exactly as advertised. This collection is for diehard Megaman fans and retro-enthusiasts. Folks giving negative reviews, like ZEROS, which is totally absurd, were likely five year-olds born yesterday that don't understand the purpose of the pure recreation that this collection is. The areas that slowdown in the six games are DESIGNED to be as such, recreating the pacing as how us mature folks grew playing the series. I wouldn't have minded an option to turn it off, but it's great as is. The challenge mode adds dozens of replay hours to the entire package, and these are six games you'll likely want to play over and over and over again, until death to us part.

I've never played its equal in an RPG. With Dragon Age Inquisition being ugly and highly disappointing, as far as story, visuals, controls, and a large but empty world goes, Witcher 3 is a breath of fresh air for RPG fans. Ridiculously fun! Much smarter, tighter combat system than ever before. However, poor use of mocap, bad animations, weird textures, and broken online features mar the game thus far. I've been buying the same game for the last six years, and though I like the realism, I can willingly give this game a zero, because I'm purchasing last year's game with a large patch. Nothing exciting and new. Sure, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but this game needs a reboot. The animations are starting to look really dated, RTTS hasn't changed much in years, and we still have the same yawner commentary, even though I'm a big fan of Matt Vasgersian, he's not Gary Thorne from 2K, when it comes to exciting, spot-on, interesting commentary.
