Mortal Kombat X is easily the pinnacle of Mortal Kombat, building on every improvement the series made in 2011, adding depth to the main fighter and delivering advancement to the modes that only NetherRealm could offer.

This sucker is just as nasty, fun, and addictive as ever. It’s just that now the face-eating moves are more beautifully animated to keep up with new technology. What a time to be alive.

This game is super fun, 5050s are a bit too much. Always hop on and enjoyed it for a long time. But holy fxck, who tf is this crackhead Goro player called cbass slayer. Plays like a fxckin italian plumber, guy rolls his ballsack on the controller and somehow it works. Good thing I alwayd beat Exohydras bum ass son, mf has autism thinking Jason is hard Whatever Nerf reptile

Good gameplay, tons of modes, in the lovable and unique Mortal Kombat style. Another very good job from NetherRealm Studios.

Underneath the blood and guts is a self-assured, generous and thoroughly modern fighting game.

It’s not perfect and has some thematic inconsistencies that let it down, but it is a gorily beautiful game, and as far as I’m aware, it’s the first one to have exploding testicles.

Netherrealm has taken a number of welcome steps forward with Mortal Kombat X, but no momentum is gathered, because it's stopped in its tracks by an avalanche of needless distractions, some miserable netcode and - oddly, for a game so obsessed with death in all its grisly forms - poor execution of decent ideas. The coolest part of MK games. Much better than MK 11 in terms of combos and gameplay.

Stuck between the purity of its predecessors and the sophistication of its heirs, Mortal Kombat X is a bit less than both. While Mortal Kombat X would not be called a looker these days, things have improved from Mortal Kombat 2011: The cutscenes are functional and now with 100 percent less compression artifacts. The story tries a little harder, too, even if it amounts to a basic “bad guy goes for a MacGuffin” artifact, but at least they introduce the kiddie generation here, and those guys are pure campy joy. I had quite a bit of fun with this campaign, but I would have enjoyed myself more if it hadn’t included these asinine quick-time events that needlessly interrupt the story flow, have almost no consequence whether you fail or succeed, and generally are just a pain in the neck. The gameplay is tight as ever, and this time the final boss, while still a challenge, doesn’t get all the cheat codes. MKX kicks your limbic system just as hard as its predecessor has, and there are so many new characters and old favourites that everyone is assured to find someone whose taste of senseless, comical violence they enjoy. The absurd amounts of gore and abuse actually detract from the game, and I will never understand why the detailed rendering of a bone breaking are assumed to be more engaging as the sight of, to pull an example from a sister franchise, Superman punching you into the sun, but the blinding speed and cleanly visible action just work. TLDR: Mortal Kombat X has improved enough to not be fashionably retro, but not enough to stand up to more modern titles, and so it sits uncomfortably on the fence. Only play this if you mean to be a completionist about the franchise, but if you do, it will entertain you fairly well. P.S.: Declaration of bias: I treat all all fighting games as single player games, going through the story and then unlocking each character ending in easy or normal difficulty mode. Yes, I am a button-mashing scrub, so don’t come here for opinions about fighting mechanics or multiplayer imbalances.

Je n’ai pas réussi à accrocher. L’ensemble ne m’a pas convaincu malgré mes efforts.

I myself like Sub Zero very much and I always chose Sub Zero, this is a nostalgic game and I know it has many fans and I respect all the fans of this game, but this game lacks something, it needs something to surprise us. It is and I haven't seen anything and I hope Mortal Kombat 11 has improved because I haven't played it yet, but overall this game has a long way to go to get a yellow or green rating from me.
