MLB The Show 22 is still a great game of ball, but one that is stating to slow down as it ages. San Diego Studio has been able to innovate in the past, and I hope they get around to addressing some of the weaknesses next time around. Whether that's through going full current-gen or delivering a fresh approach to Road to the Show, there is room for improvement.

MLB The Show 22 is still among the highest forms of video game baseball available … right along with the game that came before it. It still plays exquisitely, and it's still definitely worth your time if you've never really experienced the series before. For veterans, however, this could be the moment where the game just feels … sort of "there," and the only big difference you'll notice is that this year's cover guy probably should have been last year's cover guy.

There’s something to be said about not messing with something that’s working just fine. The Show 22 is a familiar product for better and for worse. The ball game is as solid as ever, but the video game entry fails to offer something truly new for PlayStation owners who bought last year’s installment, while its most noticeable change doesn’t really help matters.

I'd played MLB the Show for many years and had over the last couple gotten more into it with the Diamond Dynasty section. But MLB The Show 22 was the reason I will not buy another MLB The Show ever again. The game has become too much of a money hog. Oh you can go basic and get the bottom-level game, but everyone who has spent $100 for the Digital Deluxe is already ahead of you with the superstar cards they have and you don't. Not to mention that the game added superstar cards often (even more in MLB The Show 23, which I did not buy). People say you can play the game without spending money, but unless you're really good at it (and I wasn't), that's not true. So the game has different classes of players depending on how good you are. If you're not good, you can, of course, spend money in the Marketplace (sometimes a lot) to get good cards, but that's a neverending circle like a dog chasing its tail. It's too bad because there was a time when the game didn't take up all your free time so you could advance in it. It has developed into a neverending money pit that will take up all of your time. And I mean every bit of it. I will never buy it again.

Hands down the worst sports game I've ever played. Wii Baseball is better in every aspect and it's actually fun The Show 22 is not. Let start with the rigged batting system that is anything but consistent, literally zero consistency or skill involved. Then there is the issue of 65 and 70 rated CPU players outperforming my 99 overall players on Rookie mode. The CPU players move faster, make better plays, bat better, pitch better, etc. A 65 overall rated CPU player makes my maxed out guys look terrible. This game ****, might be one of the worst overall video games I have ever played. I highly recommend finding another sports game to play and especially another baseball game they took the fun out of this one.

Fun game! For me, this scratches the itch of the decades old game Ken Griffey Jr. baseball. It is super easy to hit homers with certain players. My team has the best batting average. Cons: the fielding could be better, more throws could be attempted. Also, the advertising within game is absurd. Probably would not have noticed if not for the giant nike logos and checks all around. The announcers only acknowledge a "cycle" if ya hit the homerun as the last part of the cycle.

From the gorgeous visuals that transport you directly to the field, to the stellar controls, you won't find another sports game out there that will captivate you quite like this one. Feeling the roar of the crowd swelling up as you continue to rack up points, to the way that your players will express their emotions on the field, this is a sports title that other developers of the genre should take notes from.

MLB The Show 22 is much more a series of adjustments and small evolutions compared to its predecessor than a completely new title, which, despite looking like a mere roster update, allows it to keep delivering one of the best sports simulators on the market.

The Show is back and better. With new features to the ballplayer feature like the two way player and improvements to gameplay, MLB The Show 22 is a must have to baseball fans.

MLB The Show 22’s improvements as the kind of thing you’d expect to find in patch notes. The gameplay feels better than ever, and we really

MLB The Show 22 remains the sport's one true constant, and some fresh tweaks to existing modes, along with a much-welcomed gameplay addition, prove the game can only get better year after year, even with some features being mysteriously omitted at launch.

The Show remains the best baseball simulation out there … If, however, you already know, love and celebrate this game as an owner of “The Show 20” or “21," I can find no good reason you should feel compelled to purchase this year’s entry.

As other big sport sims, MLB The Show 22 offers a solid proposal, rich on gameplay modes and options that make it approachable by anyone, regardless its age or skill, although the "pay to win" component and expensive pack and card prices affect the final impression.

MLB The Show 22 is a fantastic baseball simulator that fans of the sport will enjoy. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough notable changes to the game that make it a must-have. There are some little tweaks here and there that dedicated players will notice, but the total package isn’t too different. That said, it’s still worth picking up if baseball is your game.

Additionally, while improved trade logic was supposed to show up in this year’s game, I was still able to trade for Shohei Ohtani with just a handful of my second-tier players; trades remain a bit too easy to execute in this game (NBA 2K’s sliders are recommended as the fix here). And there are still no custom created draft classes, meaning your Franchise mode eventually winds up with a host of random players if you play it long enough. (I’d love to see historic draft classes in this game)...It all prevents an intriguing game from reaching its ultimate potential. MLB The Show 22 sets a new bar in one category, and every sports game can learn a lesson from it. And it’s fun enough. There’s just more potential to be unlocked, hopefully next year.

Best game since 2016. Don't listen to these morons with the negative reviews. I've been a critic of the game for a long time. The game runs much smoother this year. The change in the commentary booth is a breath of fresh air. Futhermore, the presentation is much improved. I'm more of a franchise guy, but I can't wait to give Road to The Show another go.

Largely the same, will scratch that baseball itch though. Not a big fan of what they did to nerf pitching and award bad hitting this year. Lots of yellow bloop hits and very early deep fly outs and hrs. Slower pitch speeds, easier to foul off, harder to strike out. To me it kind of ruins the skill gap, even though it was already miniscule to begin with, seeing as this game is a lot of rng to begin with. Kinds of ruins competitive online for me, personally.

While MLB The Show 22 has undeniable replay value, if you’ve played any of the other games in the series, you’ll notice that there haven’t been any gameplay changes in years, and that aspects of Dynasty and Road to the Show have been removed with nothing being added to compensate. The progression system in both Dynasty and RttS is completely broken with no patches ever being put out to fix things. The computer AI in RttS is absolutely horrendous, and the fact that you have very little control over things in your career in RttS outside of the random call from your in-game agent asking if you want a trade shows that MLB The Show is well behind NBA2k and even Madden in regard to this style of game play, The only things the game directors and producers are concerned are micro transactions and multiplayer and it’s showing in how poorly set up the single player modes are. I won’t purchase MLB The Show 23 unless it’s on a 50% off or better sale due to the fact that the single player aspects are treated as worthless table scraps. The producers and game directors should be ashamed.
