The Show has been one of the more consistently excellent and complete sports series for years, and MLB The Show 21 maintains that excellence as it steps into the next-gen batter's box. The cover athlete choice of the aforementioned Fernando Tatis, Jr., is no coincidence, as the young star is being seen as one of baseball's next big things, ushering in a possible new era of personality and Q-rating power that the game could sorely use. He can also do everything, and everything is what this series has offered to fans for years at a high level. Time will tell if there is yet another level to reach.

It really all comes down to your love of baseball. Even as a fan who watches the game regularly, I've had a hard time finding my footing in The Show 21. It's a hard game and that's OK. Challenges should always be welcomed. But there needs to be a way to bridge the gap, especially with The Show 21 now being made available to a much wider audience. If it can happen with other sports games, it's time it happens for baseball's biggest title.

Sony San Diego develops a conservative delivery, with hardly any improvements in gameplay and content. Being intergenerational, in addition, the technical leap is invaluable, but nevertheless, it is still a very solid baseball game.

Why do they force you to go a tutorial? So stupid it is an MLB videogame pretty easy to figure out. It takes so long to do anything. Will never buy another MLB show because of this.

I've played well over 300 hours of Franchise and Road To The Show on PS5 with this game, and I can comfortably say I have enjoyed the game. While I cannot speak for some areas of the game such as Diamond Dynasty, I absolutely love Franchise Mode and Road To The Show. The details and animations are very smooth and realistic, sometimes it is easy to forget you aren't watching real baseball. The game runs fluently at 60 FPS, has virtually no bugs or glitches, and overall plays very smoothly. While the commentary gets a little stale after a while, the new unlockable lines keep things fresh. This isn't a game I will get tired of, and is definitely my favorite baseball game. In my opinion, SDS did a good job with this game.

I need to start out by saying, I was so excited to finally have a good baseball game on my XBox. I got the XBOX series X edition and couldn't wait to play. But I have to say, don't buy this game unless you like playing in the minors your entire career. They should call the game, Miner League Baseball, Never Going To The Show 21. I have played 3 full seasons in the minors. First, I started out in Double A. After about a month, I was moved to Triple A. I finished my first year in the minors with a .453 batting average and an ERA of .14 with 4 No hitters and 3 perfect games. Got asked to join the Braves during spring training. I finished spring training with a .420 batting average and an ERA of 0. Got sent back to the minors. Second year in Triple A, I finished the season with a batting average of .433, 61 HR's, an ERA of 0.10 3 No hitters and 412 strike outs, plus the team won the minor league championship, where I batted .420, had 11 HR's, and an ERA of 0, plus I pitched a no hitter on the final game of the championship series. Asked to join the Braves again for spring training. Once I again I performed amazingly, Batting average of .455, 7HR's and an ERA of 0. Got sent back to the minors. I'm in my third year now, but I think I'm just going to quit playing the game, nobody wants to play a game called "The Show", and then never make it to the **** the while, my player is an overall 98 overall rating. This game ****!!!!! Don't waste your money!

San Diego Studios continue to try and improve an annual product that already has a fantastic core with MLB The Show 21.

MLB The Show 21 might not excel in vastly improving its overall package, but the smaller upgrades you do get make this game just as entertaining as it was last year. Next year will have higher expectations to meet.

MLB The Show 21 isn't the generational leap forward we might've expected following a new console launch, but it's still the best baseball sim you can play on any platform.

MLB The Show 21 isn't as flashy as its cover star. Lacking many overhauls to its modes, this year's game focuses on a decent laissez-faire story mode, a cool new Stadium Creator, and more of the superb baseball sim gameplay that has earned the series its reputation as one of the best Sony exclusives. MLB The Show isn't exclusive anymore, but that just means many more people are about to learn firsthand how lifelike a sports game's on-field gameplay can be.

MLB The Show 21 is not an easy game to get the hang of by any means, but it manages to make the experience a good one whether you’re winning or losing.

MLB The Show 21’ isn’t perfect, but it remains the best baseball simulation game out there. And it’s not particularly close.

What's always been good about the franchise is still good here, but when it comes to making the next-gen leap, The Show 21 can't quite cut it. Series die-hards will likely enjoy the real-world rule changes, but if you're picking up the game for the first time in a while, last year's entry is as good as this one.

Pretty good since all the bug fixes and updates. The only reason I'm only scoring it a 7 is because they charged PS4 customers full price for this game but punished them for not buying a PS5 by locking them out of using stadium creator and seeing the videos for the story progression in road to the show. WHAT? What's worse is because of the semiconductor shortage, Most people don't even have the option to buy a console right now unless you want to pay three times what the things worth. It's just so scum-baggy.

Sadly legitimately one of the worst iterations. It caters way too much to online diamond dynasty players while ruining offline modes like RTTS. I do NOT care for PvP and cards. Stop forcing that on us. Heavily disappointed with the check swing system too where 98% are strikes. If you're going to make separate balance for online (the competitive setting) why are controls in other modes identical? I'll give them credit for the stadium creator which is absolutely phenomenal. It has some ways to go but I'm amazed in their first implementation. Franchise is unchanged per usual, so the only enticing factor is making a team and stadium. Worst feature missing is sounds of the show. This is by far the most immersion breaking missing feature and MUST be brought back in the future.

The only thing keeping this from being a 0/10 is franchise mode still being barrable. The RTTS "My Ballplayer" nonsense is the most braindead thing I've ever seen in a video game. You went from being able to tell your own stories in RTTS and having fun with how you had your player play, into a forced Shohei Ohtani **** story with a **** "podcast" in-between with not being able to progress for REAL without using Diamond Dynasty **** Which I still don't understand why people play that mode

I dont know it this version of the show got a lower budget or if there is issues porting to next gey but i had **** and tech issues. The game hasnt evolved at all, iy still slow and boring. I am surprised even hatd caore basball fans still like this.. I guess when you have no competition there no where else for people to eat, so why bother wuth funding and effort.
