Unlike the review bombers, I actually watched the film. It feels like a powerful analog to Gladiator, telling a story that resonated heavily in the modern world. Viola Davis was **** incredible. On top of justifying herself as a bonafide action star, she brought the raw emotionality that has won her Oscar’s before. The supporting cast was stellar as well, unbelievable turns all around, you can feel the passion of the performers burning through the screen. Don’t believe the reactionary man babies who are triggered by anything that doesn’t validate their worldview. This movie is a powerhouse.

The hardest I've laughed in a movie theater in as long as I can remember. Crude, lude, gross, and hilarious. You probably know already if you'll like this or not. For me, it was nostalgic, and an incredible pick me up. So much love to the guys and gals who made this possible. You are heroes!

Incredible! Really awe inspiring. Everything I was hoping for, and more. My favorite science fiction film.

Best comedy I’ve seen in ages. Pure, unhinged absurdism. Hardest I’ve laughed in some time. Destined to be a cult classic. Do it!

Big Christopher Nolan fan here. Really didn't enjoy this. I found the whole exercise to be a tiresome, nonsensical slog. As a huge fan of science fiction film and literature, I'm always excited to see a new take on the genre. I'm not one of the science fiction fans who dislikes anything fantastical or not 'hard sci-fi', in fact, some of those are my favorites. This however, takes nonsense to the next level. Its certainly a unique concept, but the headiness it proports itself to have is a mirage. In reality, the story is just a vehicle for a gimmick with some cool visual tricks, and it doesn't have the requisite internal logic to suspend disbelief in the slightest. This adds up to an extremely frustrating experience, which makes sense only on the most surface of levels, and takes itself dreadfully serious. If you peel back that surface level only a bit, you find a menagerie of convoluted **** that makes no sense whatsoever. It's as if they tried to hide how nonsensical the entire concept was, by making it all extra convoluted. There's a pointed line of dialogue aimed at audience members who realize it doesn't make a lick of sense, "Don't try to understand it. Feel it." Well, to me, this FELT like a half-baked and lazily contrived film which should have spent another few years being properly conceptualized in the writer's room. It's an extremely boring and frustrating experience, and I expected more.

Unlike the commentary I have read over so much of the internet, I find nothing inherently wrong about the direction this film takes its characters. Yes, Batman is unhinged and cruel, but that is actually justified through his experiences in the film. Superman seems to be fundamentally misunderstood, he was still the protagonist in my eyes. Being in the impossible position he has been placed in, he was just trying to do the best he could. Batman was the antagonistic one, his fear/anger/hatred is the only reason the two end up fighting. The film has some big flaws. The plot is super contrived, and a lot of character motivations are murky at best. Quite a few shortcuts taken by the writers make giants leaps over logical issues. But I really feel like that is due to this film needing to do too many things at once. It was attempting to be a MoS sequel, a kicking off point for a new batman, and a starting point for the Justice League. That is an impossible movie to make well, too many things to do and not enough time. Considering the challenge they undertook, I was actually impressed with the quality of the movie. If you can turn of your brain there is some fun to be had here. Or if you want to look at it critically, there is a hell of a lot to think about. They did a lot wrong, but they also did a lot of things well. It's a movie I would definitely recommend seeing, if only for "science". However, if you have a very clear idea in your mind of what you think Superman or Batman "should" be. You might want to just skip this. Comic purists who want to see a faithful adaptation of the source material should look somewhere else, this movie is going to break your spirit.
