Dragon Age: Inquisition0
Dec 21, 2021
I bought this game for 90 cents. It's the worst RPG I've ever tried, it's pure torture. It's so bad I had to drop it 3-4 hours in, I just could take it any more. games are for fun, I play games to be entertained, to expand my mind, not to torture myself. The first 30 minutes are ok, good even, the graphics are decent. But as soon as you head to the hinterlands it turns to the worse, most bland, dull single-player MMORPG I have ever played. There's nothing like Baldurs gate, KOTR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age 1&2 in here. It's a soulless game with no direction, even Andromeda was better. It's the only Bioware game I couldn't play more than a few hours in, (Andromeda is the only other one that I've never finished) Because of the bland, super boring MMORPG design like in a single-player game, it's, without doubt, one of the worst RPGS I've ever tried to play. A complete waste of time, skip it, even if you get it for free. I tried to ignore the fetch quests, I tried to salvage what interesting story bits were there. But they are everywhere, there's nowhere to run. You have to power through so much junk and filler to get to the good bits, it just not worth it, it's not an RPG, it's a time waster. Cerebral torture. The only other RPG that is this bad is Kingdom of Amalur, dragon age inquisition is even worse. 0/10 Coming from a previous hard fan of Bioware. Kingdom of Amalur - 1/10 Baldurs gate 2 9/10 Dragon Age 1 9/10 Dragon age 2 7/10 Mass Effect 2 10/10 Baldurs gate 1 8/10 Jade Empire 7/10 Kotr - 7/10 Andromeda 4/10 Mass Effect 1 9/10 This isn't Bioware any more though. They lost their way with Mass Effect 3, and that was 9 years ago so it's time to move on.

I returned to this game 6 years later, since its atmosphere matched our current times, I take my negative review back, this game is good if you give it a chance.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings9
Oct 8, 2015
While not perfect, Witcher 2 is way ahead of most games ever made. Pros - Interactive action adventure, many ways to play and your choices influence the story - Amazing soundtrack - Amazing graphics - Amazing characters - Great story. Cons - They listened to old school roleplayers who favors item hoarding over immersion, despite starting the game with the best steel and silver swords ever made you will soon find yourself in a loop of upgrading them for a swords that do up to 400% more damage, This also means that the knights you encounter in the first prologue are much weaker than the bandits you will encounter in the first act. - Hard level simply means your enemies do more damage while you do less, uninspiring and usually makes you feel less of a bad ass by making combat longer and spamming quen sign. Depends on you - Geralt, if you don't like him, you wont like the game. The combat, some people like it, some don't. It consist mostly of rolling around your enemies and mixing quick and strong attacks. While also throwing a few spells and bombs in the mix from time to time. You can craft, if that's your thing, I find it an immersion breaker that you take the time to craft and even needs to. You can also drink potions, but I recommend skipping that because you have to stop and mediate before the battle, they last for a very short time and are severely under powered compared to the first witcher.

Say one thing about Bethesda, say they are the best in their field Like all of Bethesda games, this game is far from perfect and leaves you wanting for much more. The combat is clunky, the facts and animations are mediocre, the main plot is uninspiring half way through, the world doesn't react to you and the automatic res-pawn doesn't quite work. Despite all these things, this is your best hiking simulator in a post apocalyptic world, and listen to the best oldies music, while romping in your powerarmor and plasma rifle, putting down critters and mutants alike and engaging in another interesting and comical situation from one of the various quests is simply awesome. Bethesda games are always released broken, due to that you should download some mods from the nexus to fix the game to your liking, mostly the combat system and aiming.

Mass Effect 210
Sep 16, 2015
A game that does almost everything right and stays with you forever. The plot takes a sharp turn from mass effect 1 and gives the player a chance to take a peek at the wonderful world Bioware crafted. Not everyone approved the changes in mass effect 2, many players put the blame for mass effect 3 shortcomings on the second game. The short comings refer to the change in plot and less sense of immediate threat and direction that were core elements in the first game and were pushed away from the front of the stage in mass effect 2. However, this is exactly where Mass effect 2 shines, by choosing a more relaxed course in comparison to the fast roller coaster in the first game. The players are able to feel the gaps in the story with their own imagination. Nothing can be taken at face value. Every decision and piece of information you receive needs to be analyzed and dissected, and it encourages you to read the well made codex. There is a reason so many players have played this 20 hours game to completion several times or more. It is just that good, and if you haven't jumped on the mass effect wagon, do yourself a favor and go play the first and the second, it will probably be your best game related decision in your life, I know it was mine. Just a word of advice. Once you finished this game, avoid the urge to play the third and just complete the story with your own imagination, you won't regret it.

The games has its strengths and weaknesses, it's a mixed bag. For starters the game drives you to finish it, due to its established story. The story itself is medicore, in both storytelling and soul, The writers forgot the key in roleplaying and storytelling, show not tell. Many parts in the game they tell you how you feel, showing the player a clear sign of developer who are afraid to let go. The consequences for your choices are arbitrary with little information before to help indicate what can bring a better outcome, you are basically rolling dice, rather than thinking. Because the game is linear, they tried to bask the illusion of choice with foolish consequences. The only real choice you have in the game is to play or quit. The characters, locations and enemies have little to tell them apart, this is mostly due to the method of story telling, the game also suffers from too many heroes. Game play mechanics - I am not a big fan of turn base combat, I find it inferior to squad shooters and great strategy game like myth the fallen lords and mount and blade, in comparison to heroes and king bounty, it stands it ground. However recent games such as divinity original sin greatly surpass it in depth and balance. The game fails to encourage you to use 6 squad members, at many times using 3 or 4 is preferable. In summary, the game pushes you to play to end, and play around with it its consequences. But once you finish it there is a good chance you will have a sour taste in your mouth .

The Elder Scrolls Online0

A very bad online game, a terrible single player game. It starts off nice with a decent intro-cut scene and a familiar location in molag bal daedric dimension. The combat is familiar and reminds of skyrim and oblivion. the four classes gives you enough to play with and the 3 different factions fighting for control over the realm seems promising and balanced. But that where the good ends and the bad starts to kick in. The world doesn't encourage you to play with other people, people run from one boring quest to the next without any incentive other than to level up and push the boring story forward, the game doesn't manage to lure you in,. this is due to the doll quest, unimmersive environment which doesn't react to your actions with spawning enemies every 30 seconds and other player runabouts who are completeting the exact same quests as you, so there you are stuck in this chain of quests and poorly done exploration, where you are about to embark on this important quest only to find out someone else finished that gravely important quest only seconds before, and someone else is going to finish the exact same quest after you seconds after. Its ridiculous. The leveled enemies - enemies are leveled in order to guide you on the right path of exploration, there is no lore difference between the enemies you defeat when you are level 1 and the enemies you defeat at level 20 other than to guide you on the right path of the developer, this makes no sense storywise. enemies spread - enemies are spread in pairs across the map and seem to take no notice of their friends 20 meters away who are engaged in deadly combat. Graphics and sound are mediocre in comparison to 2011 skyrim, everything feels dead and flat. Despite the fuzz it gave me to play an elderscrolls game. and the prospect of engaging in a battle as part of the alliance, this game is a total letdown and isn't worth your money.

Divine Divinity0
Aug 31, 2014
I remember playing this game demo back in the day, it was released in the same era of diablo and the Baldur's gates. I remember quitting the demo 15 minutes in due to my disgust with the graphics. 12 years after I have received this game for free with divinity original sin, and decided to take this acclaimed game for another spin. Its terrible, absolutely terrible, the graphics, the story telling, the clunky combat system. It's lack of immersion, lack of atmosphere. This time I survived a few hours in before I finally hit the delete button. It tried to copy paste diablo style of gaming without innovating and without the multiplayer which really made the diablo game so successful. It was supposed to be a diablo with an interactive story. but the story doesn't even come close to bioware golden era or cd project. And the gameplay is a pale imitation of the successful diablo 2. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this game even if its free. There are much better stories out there for you to experience and many games which are a lot more fun that this.

Divinity: Original Sin0
Aug 30, 2014
Seems like almost everyone here uses almost only 10's and 0's and I am forced to play along. Here is my review: With more than one hours logged into this game and I haven't gotten out of the first act, not because its that packed with sweet baked cookies but because its that time consuming. The game has only recently came out and it was summer, the end of student vacation all around the world, but there is a big problem with this game. Unless you are a RPG, story based game fan like myself it wouldn't hold your interest and you would grow tired of it quick. The reason lay within the game itself, as a single player its a complete failure - You are in charge of two main characters and possibly two flat henchmen, without another player to assume the role of one of the character you are left there alone to weed through hundreds of pointless arguments with yourself... The game becomes very easy when you play it on single player with a very strong resemblance to heroes of might and magic 4 - you don't need to communicate and thus lose the fun of communication. - The story telling in this game is quite average like the rest of Larian games, it starts of nice at the intro but it loses pace quick and soon your investigation of the murderer will sum up with breaking into everyone houses, stealing all their belonging so you can afford the highly priced books from the local 'friendly wizard' or from the very people you are trying to save. but don't worry no one will seem to notice you are a major kleptomaniac as there are no real choices and consequences in this 'rpg' - After you are done breaking into everyone houses - you will go on a kill spree, no choice in there either. The enemies are nicely leveled in order to guide your approach which would remind you of a silly arcade game. level 2, level 3, level4. But divinity isn't doesn't present itself as a silly arcade game. It wanted to be the spiritual predecessor to planescape torment and the baldur's gate. Let me tell you something about those old games - They didn't have boring items immersion breaking system which glorified the replacement of your sword or armor every time you played. In baldurs gate your attributes didn't change every two levels(In planescape they did but it was part of the plot) Your Great sword would improve 800% from level 1 to level 20 it would improve only by a mere 35% from 1-10 to 1-10 +2 your full plate armor didn't improve by 2000% from level 1 to 20 It would improve by 10%. What happens here is, that Larian has a developed a diablo like item system devoid of any logic, fun or immersion in order to promote time consuming tasks. rather than spending their time developing a real time they spent it on creating lots of identical loot painted in different colors or ridiculous names. but in reality these are the same items and the all point of them being there is to turn you into a kleptomaniac and inflate the game time. The noncombat skills are worthless and un interesting and only serve in breaking immersion. Trade - non interesting and only serve in consuming time Your two top source hunters are under supplied and can be beaten by lowly guards at the beginning. Some of these problems are common among many rpg games, but they are still problems which can easily distract from the fun you will have playing this game, too many developers like to glorify their leveled games based on the old D&D well in reality the D&D gave great respect to levels and used them to create a better sense of immersion. while in today games level are there in order to grant you a false sense of achievement and consume your time with menial tasks. Instead of focusing their time on great a great and wonderful interactive story and fun combat, Larian **** in to the mmorpgs mentality of creating a highly frustrating and time consuming game which give you cookies every time your did a repetitive action. This can still be fun if you have a reliable playing partner, do not buy this game if you don't you will only become frustrated and waste your valuable time.

Fallout 3: Broken Steel0
Jun 30, 2014
I created an account on metacritic just for this dlc, this poor excuse for an rpg story drops the player on the most annoying railroaded adventure ever seen in an rpg game. You are forced into the service of the brotherhood of steel who don't even bother asking you if you want it or not, you are given orders to do this and do that by the most annoying character I ever met(paladin Tristan) who is the anti-commander, instead of leading his troops he just barks orders at the player and sends him to far off locations, the majority of this dlc time is the time it takes to get to these locations on the edges of the map. this dlc brings nothing new or good to the game, people talking about the level cap are hilarious, if you want more perks or stats just use the console, I highly recommend to steer away from levels above 20 because the game leveled list become too ridiculous after that. Stay away from this dlc, only terrible roleplaying opportunities and poor combat scenes await you here.
