One of my personal favorites, I believe everyone who is passionate about music should give it a try. Its simple approach on both gameplay and campaign is also what makes it shine so much, giving importance to each and every mini-story within the songs which are all endearing and funny.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village8

Very good puzzle game, which wraps the puzzles in quite a charming story, which is maybe more for kids than for adults. The puzzles on the other hand will steal more time than you'd expect and are often clever and interesting. Also, nice usage of the DS hardware 8,5/10

Persona 510

I can't come up with a single bad thing about this game. It's one of the best and most unique RPGs I've ever played, even the soundtrack is worth a 10. It can lock you in like very very few other games can, I literally forgot my meals and went to bed way past my time.

God of War: Ragnarok9

The definitive reboot of the God of War experience. Huge world, satisfying gameplay and an epic story with great characters - specially the villains. A must play, although I'd strongly recommend first to complete the 2018 prequel.

Red Dead Redemption 210

In my 30 years of life as a videogame fan, this is the best game I ever played. It's a milestone for the game industry in so many ways I can't even begin to explain. You could simply exist in the world this game brings you and it would be hard not to give it a 10. Add to that a sensational story and characters and tons of interesting stuff to do and you've got yourself this absolute masterpiece.

Hogwarts Legacy8
Oct 18, 2023
Hogwarts legacy is a good game, it sacrificed a much more ambitious experience that could have contained real RPG elements, many more spells and magic items, many more enemies and creatures, potions, etc... And instead it focused on bringing the best gameplay experience in a much more limited world. The main story is not great, neither are the side quests or the open world, but you have to give the game credit for being a milestone in Harry Potter games and landing it gracefully.

Different name, same old formula, but this year with a lot of bugs both navigating the menus and while in game. You can easily tell that their main focus is ultimate team and the amount of money it entails. It's been so many years now since I last played a football game that felt fun and unadulterated, i.e. the opposite of football games made by EA.

Starfield7
Oct 15, 2023
Although not a bad game, Starfield is certainly a big disappointment. I have to give it credit for the first hours in the campaign. By the time you visit Mars you may be thinking this is the real deal. A huge universe filled with Bethesda's charm and its little hidden stories in every location. Truth is the more you play it, the more you realize it's nowhere close to its predecessors in terms of quality and detail. Dialogue and stealth are horrendous, quest design is poor except for a few faction missions, and it's insulting how much time you spend in menus and fast travelling to silly dialogues in order to complete missions. The game is basically the same skeleton and flesh as its predecessors, it definitely cannot afford to worsen some of their key elements. On the other hand, combat is decent and the RPG elements are not bad, which is what saves the game in the end. To sum it up, there's fun to be had, specially if you weren't hyped for it or expecting a lot, but it's certainly a flop and one of the major disappointments of the year.

DOOM9

A step above the vast majority of FPS gameplaywise, Doom is a game with a hell of a personality (no pun intended) and although its linearity, it also has depth should you want to complete it 100%. I really enjoyed it.

Journey9
Aug 5, 2023
Very unique game at a very cheap price. The game is gorgeous and it can very well be a metaphor of many things in life. Any goal, any adventure is a journey. Life itself. And it's as if this game depicted the beginnings, the highs, the lows... and of course the ending. I won't rate it a 10 because in my opinion it's not that much ****, more like an interactive experience. But totally worth it, that's for sure.

King's Quest8
Aug 4, 2023
King's Quest is a very charming puzzle adventure. It has a great narrative and it knows how to make you laugh as well as get to your heart. The only downsides in my opinion was there are almost no significant consequences to the choices you make (they could at least change the grandma character depending on who you choose to marry) and also chapter 4, which is a bit repetitive and uninspiring, but really good game overall.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition8

Very well executed action game. The story is a bit cheesy but does enough to keep you hooked. The gameplay is top notch, specially the puzzles and fights. The game could strive for a 9/10 if the skills and equipment progression were more interesting. The scavenging and hunting end up becoming void, and the exploration is not that much of a thing. It's a linear game, you just have the ability to return to previous areas to find collectables... Overall a very enjoyable game, just feeling like it could had been a masterpiece with a bit more depth and detail.

I played solo and had a great time, though I'm sure it's much better if you play with friends. + Great gameplay. Different and clever types of enemies. + Great challenge! Those saying it's crazy hard, I disagree, you just have to figure out new stuff and the game puts you in those situations. For example, if you are wet, you can self cast fire and you are back to normal. Another one, It took almost half of the story progression for me to figure out I could self cast a water shield so I would not get wet when it was raining and then I could cast thunder without problem. These are just examples, but be sure to explore the possibilities, the game rewards you! Cons -The story is mediocre -Some mechanics can be very frustrating and you can end up dying in a very silly way and starting all over a difficult encounter. *This isn't either a pro or a con: don't expect RPG elements, there is no leveling or progression whatsoever. Just the "Magickas" that are a few and you unlock them as the story progresses, but that's it. To me it simplifies the game, specially since the spell system is quite deep already. If you enjoy games like diablo I'd totally recommend it, specailly on sale.

Skulls of the Shogun8

Simple but with enough depth, it's a casual strategy game but it's a really good one. I only played the single player campaign and I enjoyed it a lot, I specially loved the monks and their spells, and also the story is quite funny, it cracked me up a couple of times. I really recommend the volcano levels, which are unlocked after the main campaign. The AI is a bit bad sometimes and I also miss some difficulty system to make it a bit more challenging, although the golden skull challenges are okay. Obviously it cannot compare to the likes of xcom or other very deep strategy games, it's a much more casual game, but if you value it for what it is, it's a gem in its own way.

Styx: Master of Shadows6
Jun 24, 2023
Decent stealth game. Its biggest strengths are the level design which is surprisingly good as well as the skills your character can learn and how they can change the way you approach some situations. I would strongly recommend trying to play it without being seen, since duels and fights are not only dull but they also break whatever immersion built. The story and lore are a bit underwhelming, as well as the characters. Technically it's not good for a ps4 game and another lackluster is that the levels end up using the same maps in the end, which makes it feel a bit repetitive. Overall: there aren't many pure stealth games nowadays and this is one that does the job and is quite fun to play. For those who aren't much into the stealth genre I honestly would not recommend it, since not much else of the game is worth the experience.

Metro: Last Light Redux8
Jun 16, 2023
Continues the story of the first Metro 2033 game. Graphics are beautiful even now, almost a decade after it came out for ps4. I strongly recommend playing in Survival/Ranger difficulty, the shootings become really intense and I believe it suits this game like a glove and it ends up being much more immersive. I think the story is enjoyable, some pretty forgettable characters, but others are really good (specially one communist fella). Gameplay wise it has a lot of personality and it's a unique experience, I don't think there are many games that blend the FPS with the kind of survival and horror as well as the metro games do.
