The bar for Sonic is LOW when a game like this is put on a pedestal. Expected this game to be on the same level of quality as Generations based on what I had previously heard about the game and yet I had to force myself to finish it. Dreadful story, mediocre level design, over reliance on gimmicks, too many 2D sections, poor physics and a forgettable sound track hold this game back from being anything close to great.

A well rounded shooter with fun gunplay and some interesting ideas but although it is 'good' in many areas it's far from 'excellent'. The visuals are a mixed bag with the game sometimes looking great and othertimes looking like an early Xbox 360 game. The PC port of the game also isn't perfect with delayed input and weird bugs when using a dual monitor setup. I also think that despite the story being interesting it could greatly benefit from better writing and more interesting characters. For the price today the game is worth checking out but if you are someone that plays lots of shooters you might feel a little underwhelmed.

Final Fantasy XV had the potential to be one of the greatest games in the series, but sadly the execution of its story and gameplay really hold it back along with its troubled development. The visuals and music are fantastic, as to be expected from a Final Fantasy game, and the relationship between the main characters really makes the experience feel like going on an adventure with friends. The gameplay is fun but lacks depth and polish, with it often feeling like an underwhelming hack and slash game, however it is still fun and often very satisfying. The story is interesting but in my opinion fails to deliver due to it being separated into different forms of media including the game, movie and anime and it also suffers from one dimensional characters. The world is also quite one dimensional, with little to discover and countless invisible walls throughout the 'open world' that can be quite annoying at times. Overall, I wanted this game to be so much more. Its fine the way it is, but its simply unfinished and had the potential to be so much greater.

Similar to its predecessor, Doom Eternal offers a great fps experience with satisfying gunplay, fantastic visuals and a great soundtrack. The story has been improved over Doom (2016) and the gameplay expanded allowing Doom Eternal to sit beside its predecessor as the two best first person shooters of the generation. However the game isn’t perfect due to certain game design choices. Platforming plays a much bigger role this time around however it feels very lackluster, the game is also much more punishing in relation to health and ammo which breaks the flow of the game sometimes and there are also minor annoyances that I have including the marauder enemy type which is a chore to defeat as well as fps drops when running against certain walls. Overall its a great game that is pretty much on par with the previous game and is definitely worth picking up.

After going in with low expectations I was surprised to find that Call of Duty WWII is actually a decent game. The single player campaign is solid, with some missions being excellent and others being quite forgettable. This is one of the few Call of Duty games where I found myself actually getting immersed in the setting, which is largely due to the game's excellent visuals and character animations. The multiplayer is very 'standard', even for a Call of Duty game, with a hub world that is pointless and microtransactions/lootboxes that are shoved in your face. Nothing about the multiplayer is 'new' which makes it feel a little underwhelming and boring. The zombies mode is decent but definitely not the best in the series by any means. Overall, I feel that this game is well put together but it definitely comes across as unoriginal and generic, however I still feel its worth experiencing for anyone that likes WWII settings and if you are a big fan of the franchise then you will likely enjoy what the game has to offer.

Resident Evil 3 is very short and sweet, and for me that is what I needed when I decided to try this game out. Visually, the game is stunning with interesting environments, nice character designs and well animated in-game cutscenes. There is a nice balance of horror and action, and the game keeps you on your toes from start to finish constantly throwing in new things whether its a new enemy type, a new weapon or a new place to visit. The only real issue I have with RE3 is the lack of content, if you are only interested in the single player (which applies to most people) then you are looking at essentially a 5 hour game which is a little disappointing. I hope that in the future that RE never has a game this short again, however the content that is there is still worth experiencing. I look forward to what RE has in store for the future.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn does a good job at learning from the mistakes of its former version, with an interesting world with plenty of things to see and do. However, the game has more filler content than any Final Fantasy game to date, with the vast majority of A Realm Reborn's content consisting of boring fetch quests. If you want to feel like a delivery driver or a messenger, then you will absolutely love this game. The music is fantastic and visually the game is decent, but the main thing holding back A Realm Reborn is simply the fact that the content in the base game is very repetitive and uninteresting. Thankfully, Square Enix knows this and has learned from it with the Final Fantasy XIV expansions being significantly better with content that is much more interesting and enjoyable. Do not be put off by A Realm Reborn, force your way through it and enjoy the expansions that follow.

I really wanted to like Final Fantasy XIII and tried my best to go in with an open mind despite the numerous negative opinions I had heard about this game, but man does this game have problems especially the PC version. Visually the game is stunning, and holds up well in 2020 over 10 years after the game's initial release. The character designs are great and the art direction is excellent, with gorgeous CGI cutscenes too. The audio in the game is also great, with some incredible music such as 'Atonement' among other memorable songs that can sometimes be 'too good' that they actually overpower what is happening on screen. The audio in general is great and helps make the combat more satisfying. When it comes to the actual gameplay, Final Fantasy XIII is perfectly 'fine'. The combat is pretty fun, but the games level design is incredibly linear making the game feel a little tedious/repetitive and will definitely break the game for many people. The story, is where Final Fantasy XIII really ruins the experience for me personally, with a narrative that is so disjointed and melodramatic that it feels like I am watching a cringey mediocre anime. The protagonist Lightning, isn't very likeable and the cast in general are a mixed bag. The plot is also a little nonsensical, difficult to follow and has plot holes. Half the time I didn't even know what my objective was. Overall, Final Fantasy XIII is mediocre plain and simple. Its not necessarily a bad game, but its not a good game either. I should also mention that the PC version of this game ****, like it really ****. It suffers from multiple issues like stutter, frame rate issues, controller problems and many bugs.

What a complete disappointment. Finally got around to playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider just recently as I wanted to wait until I got my new computer to play the game. So here are my thoughts: Graphics: A massive mixed bag, the in game cut scenes look fantastic as well as the lighting and overall the game looks pretty solid, however sometimes the game is just downright ugly with washed out colours, characters looking clay-like and the game often looking pixelated especially background scenery. Gameplay: Very similar to Rise of the Tomb Raider, except Rise of the Tomb Raider took what was good about its predecessor and improved upon it. Shadow does the opposite of this with few additions to the Rise gameplay and the game just feels so much clunkier than Rise as well as being frustrating at times with quick time events and bad level design with the game feeling incredibly linear. The game also punishes you for going stealth with the bow being practically useless since most enemies take multiple hits to kill regardless of headshots, better off going guns blazing like Uncharted. Story: It ****, the devs clearly didn't care about the story so why should I? Cookie cutter two dimensional characters that are picked up and dropped like a rock, peoples motivations aren't explained and Lara is the only character that is likeable (just barely) Audio: The music is pretty decent, however the audio will cut out at times and the lip syncing will also go out of sync from time to time. Overall: To sum up, the game is noticeably worse than its predecessors. The game is too linear and holds your hand tightly with incredibly uninspired level design. It looks pretty good visually (for the most), the gameplay is fine (even though its forgettable) and the story, well you won't remember it after a day. Sadly the game is just mediocre, maybe pick it up in a couple of years during a Steam sale for $5? Almost forgot to mention, the game has quite a few bugs including visual bugs, audio bugs and gameplay bugs that require you to reload from the last checkpoint. Have fun :) Edit: Also realised I missed an entire scene (the cool scene where she rises from the water with flames etc) as the game just skipped it, the scene just didn't happen it cut past it, just another bug worth pointing out.

For a PS2 game, it holds up surprisingly well. A diverse cast of interesting characters, a turn based battle system that has a lot of depth, excellent music and nice scenery. The story also keeps you on your toes with some fantastic CGI cutscenes. It does have its flaws though with Tidus being a mediocre protagonist despite his nice character design, the voice acting is a mixed bag with some characters sounding good and others sounding like they came from an abysmal anime dub, some of the decision making in the game is odd and some of the characters can be downrightfrustrating at times such as Wakka whose bible-thumping gets really annoying overtime. The difficulty in the game is also very bipolar and the sphere trials shouldn't be in the game period. I think this is a game worth experiencing for anyone who likes Final Fantasy or JRPGs, if you don't like either then better off avoiding the game.

Its the same old Assassin's Creed we know and love and stands tall alongside Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood. The only things I don't really like about the game are that it lacks originality/creativity as well as the Desmond missions being ResidentSleeper as well as the Lost Archive dlc. They have a cool concept but are executed in a way that makes them incredibly boring and underwhelming, just basic puzzles (if you can even call them puzzles) that are done in a first person view to try and make them seem more interesting than what they actually are.
