Pretty good follow up to 7. Lots of homages to past resident evils which was cool, weapon upgrade system from re4 was a welcomed addition with its own weird merchant. Good weapon variety, both the guns and enemies are satisfying to shoot. Story and characters **** even by resi standards, I never cared about Ethan or anyone else because the game never tries for any major character development. Boss fights are well done and memorable, game does a good job of introducing the major bosses early to showcase their powers and build up to their encounters which are all unique fights to the games credit. Bottom line the exploration and gunplay are solid, village is a well made game and can be enjoyed by both fans and newcomers alike. Story is comically bad but that's par for the course when it comes to resident evil.

*sigh* yet another souls game that tries to pain itself as something else. Sekiro, elden crap, armored core. It's all the same stuff except now an existing franchise that was already good gets all the sewage runoff mechanics from souls games such as the trademark awful camera perspectives. As soon as the first boss happened I knew they ruined it, giant enemy ship that would be slow due it's sheer weight in any other armored core game but somehow is faster than your mech made for mobility and as an added bonus goes outside of an artificial boundary to where you can't hit it(lmao). Actual trash and anyone who days otherwise never played an armored core game before. Stop putting these lame mechanics in other games, it's not fun.

"muh patcharino"-baby with full diaper It's a fun game if you like dungeon crawlers. You kill monsters, get loot, expand your skills until you get the build you like, kill big bosses. I got around 100 hours just on my sorcerer so you definitely get your money's worth. But if you're a man-child who whines and cries at everything like most of the reviews you probably won't enjoy it, or anything else really.

Amazing. The new abilities are fun and creative and the sky level tutorial alone is huge. Of course the low IQ chuds are here to review bomb a good game because it's not a linear hallway fest that holds your hand every step of the way. RE4 with worse controls and lame mechanics from re3. Yeah that's right, it actually controls WORSE than a game from 2005. Also knife durability? What is this breath of the wild? I also didn't care for the tacked on crafting mechanics either, just felt like unnecessary busywork. The death scenes have also been heavily dialed back in how violent they are, that means no chainsaw decapitation which is just lame. I hated that they went with a super serious vibe but still tried to put the one liners in, they basically wanted to have their cake and eat it too in regards to the tone.

I don't like it as much as war for cybertron. The game has its moments like the crazy battle at the end with jetfire but most of the game is just going through linear corridors shooting the same enemies and pulling switches to advance to the next corridor. At least war for cybertron let you choose between multiple characters for each mission, in this one you're locked to specific ones for entire chapters which kinda kills any replay value.

The melee combat just ****. Anyone claiming otherwise is a shill or didn't finish the game because frankly it's one the most poorly executed combat systems Iv ever seen in a 3rd person action game. It essentially plays like punch out where you dodge left or right and counterattack but unlike punch out there no depth to any of it, that's right an NES game is more complex than this triple A game that costs 70 usd new. Where the combat really flounders is how enemies magnetize to you regardless of where they are positioned, they can be 3 feet away and just magically be up on you leading to annoying quick time events that get old very quickly. The combat could work if the controls weren't so clunky, the game uses too many complex animations that slow everything down while your enemies have split second reaction time. Any time you face more than one enemy it all falls apart because the combat was designed around fighting one enemy at a time, there are parts where ranged enemies will kill you offscreen because you're focused on another enemy, it's not difficult just annoying. The story is nonexistent. Big tough girl boss causes your ship to crash into prison planet where you go through a disneyland theme park of death that you must go through to survive. The only story development is in audio logs which is beyond overused at this point. Characters are paper thin with no backstories or personality to them, no one changes over the course of the story whatsoever. Oh and it ends on a cliffhanger to sell DLC, lovely. Easily my most disappointing game of 2022. I was looking forward to this but it's pretty obvious the devs at the helm did not understand what made Dead Space great and were trying their hardest to imitate it while adding in mechanics from Last of Us for "muh realism". Boring linear corridor game that lives in the shadow of older brother.

Terrible. I have to ask, did anyone rating this game positive actually play it? Because I find it baffling how anyone could give this anything above a 5, I can understand being wowed by it as a psp game since it was ahead of its time but nowadays its segmented level design just feels dated and boring The story is essentially "member sephiroth? and the buster sword?" all wrapped in an origin story for zach that nobody asked for. The new voice actor for Zach is almost as bad as tidus from ffx but even more annoying because he acts like a hyperactive kid on a sugar rush half the time, sounds like it too. It all just feels like a bad fanfic meant to please only the most obsessed fans. The gameplay is awful. Some moron at square thought it would be a cool idea to tie leveling up TO A ROULETTE WHEEL. Thats right, leveling up is entirely based on luck! Please, anyone who rated this game a 10, tell me this is good, please. Truly one the worst mechanics to ever grace an rpg.

Here comes another helping of slop from the rehashers at playstation. Pretty much doubles down on every bad mechanic from new god of war and goes a step further by **** Norse mythology to the point of absurdity. Take one look at Thor and try not to laugh, same with Odin because the character designs are awful. One only needs to look at the Greek trilogy to see how much Ragnarök fails in this regard. Anyone who claims to be a fan of the old games is lying if they think this new attempt even comes close to the originals.

Not my favorite Zelda but still an incredible game that deserves the praise it gets. From an exploration standpoint its very similar to the original Zelda, you wonder the world and complete dungeons until you are capable of killing Ganon. The fact that ganon can be killed right from the get go is a good idea of the type of freedom the game gives you, no long cutscenes or endless textboxes(cough skyward sword cough) just you and the adventure. Anyone who dislikes this game is just being a contrarian.

One of the most overrated games in existence. Ill give Persona 4 credit when it comes to presentation because visually it really stands out, if nothing else its a good example of how an interesting visual style can elevate an rpg beyond the basic grind addiction of increasing numbers until you can win. The battle system in particular isn't very interesting, enemies have weaknesses but it never makes any sense because there isn't any visual cues to what enemy is weak to what so you just randomly try different abilities until something eventually works which is trial and error at best. What makes this worse is that enemy designs are repeated in later levels with different weaknesses so there is no consistency, eventually they just give you a character that flat out tells you what the enemy is weak to removing all thought from the process. The stuff you do outside of the dungeon crawling is incredibly dull and shows just how bad the pacing is in general. There are actual hours of gameplay time that youll spend just talking to people, Persona 3 did this too but at least they let you choose when to go into the main dungeon whenever you wanted, you had to choose when was a good time to grind so the game let YOU dictate the pace in stead of just railroading you like 4 does. Stuff like this isnt interesting, its sleep inducing. For as much people crow about how the game lets you be a detective the way the game goes about it is mind numbing. Before some dungeons the game forces you to talk to random npc's until you can enter and whats stupid is that there is no logical way to go about it, you just talk to literally everyone until something happens. The characters themselves aren't as interesting as fans make them out to be. The only characters that were thought provoking were Naoto and Kanji which to be fair are well written and have great voice actors behind them. The rest felt under developed, Yusuke is bored of country life, chie is jealous of yukiko, yukiko doesn't want to work at an inn her whole life, teddy is a twink in a furry suit. Its pretty easy to see which characters got the snub in terms of development. Also anyone who likes this game was a loser who didnt have friends and used this as a substitute.

Greatest game of all time, bar none. So many people like to riff on this game because its more of a tactical 3rd person shooter than a survival horror game but I think that's what makes it better than the other Resident Evil games, it doesn't need to follow the conventions of past games because its just that good. The combat is by far the biggest improvement the RE series has ever seen. No longer do you just sit in a corner and fire away, you can target individual body parts for different reactions like kneecapping in order to stun for a roundhouse kick or an extremely satisfying suplex. Because of these mechanics the weapons are not only satisfying to use but they are also multitools in function as you can use them to shoot locks, deflect enemy projectiles, and hit stun to escape being surrounded. The sound design in particular is phenomenal, the weapon and reload sound effects are the best in the entire series for how punchy they sound. There is also a very clear effort put into making every enemy attack and movement obvious to the player, you will always hear an enemy before you see them so nothing feels like its cheap or catches you off guard even in the games most intense moments. The replay value is insane even without seperate ways RE4 still has a very replayable campaign thanks in part to its new game plus mode which lets you carry over weapons of a past playthrough and its addicting upgrade/currency system. Over the course of the game you collect treasures and sell them to purchase weapon and storage upgrades which can all be converted to the in game currency, its a very addicting way of handling an in game shop and I'm surprised more games don't do it this way. And then there's mercenaries, the time based survival mode where you can unlock other characters from past resi games. The other characters are incredibly fun to play as, especially agent hunk who can neck snap any stunned enemy, its something you really need to play to understand how cool this is. Bottom line RE4 is an amazingly fun experience that only gets better the more you play and understand the depth of its mechanics and level design. Its truly one of the most awe inspiring video games, grand in spectacle, doesn't take itself seriously and is better for it, prioritizes gameplay above all else. One the greats. Also anyone who dislikes this game needs to have their testicles surgically removed.

The story itself is bonkers but that's par for the course if you played the first game, groups of teens are pulled into an alternate reality where they all compete by.....solving riddles in order to fight demons for points? Its all very confusing but the point is that this is a great game and a worthy sequel to the original.

The pretty graphical style isn't enough to save the game from its clunky controls and boring combat. The sword fighting is easy to understand but the controls fight you every step of the way with input delay, the stun combo is literally broken due to this fact and the slow direction switch mechanic doesn't exactly help. Often times you'll be hit from behind just because the controls are too slow to respond which is unacceptable for an action game, you never feel in control of your character because of this and it ends up ruining the experience.

From a gameplay standpoint stranger of paradise is pretty fun, basically nioh 2 with a final fantasy 1 skin over it. The job system has some good customization to it, you can equip 2 jobs/builds and swap between them seamlessly even during combos which ended up being more interesting than I though it would be. Unfortunately everything else is a mess. The characters are horrible, the main character Jack is edge lord incarnate, there is a scene where he actually says "whatever" puts in his headphones and walks away from a conversation. The rest of the cast don't even have recognizable personalities, just generic carboard cutouts. The story is amazingly bad, the entire plot is just "kill CHAOS" which is the ambiguous darkness that is trying to consume everything, blah blah you've heard it before. The level design is just a series of menus where you select missions, no overworld or hub world just menus and cutscenes. The graphics also aren't anything special, looks like a ps3 game in some areas and even on performance mode I still got framerate dips during cutscenes. If you like souls games/nioh you might get some enjoyment out of the job system and combat but do not pay full price for this, just rent it or wait for a sale.

Another overhyped triple A release that fanboys will inevitably defend no matter how many obvious flaws that are staring them in the face so disregard any 9 or 10 reviews. Its pretty obvious at this point that this game is not even close to the "masterpiece" that "critics" and fanboys are claiming it is. I swear the term "masterpiece" gets tossed around so casually these days that its become irrelevant along with mainstream video game journalism. I truly cannot comprehend how you can look past all the performance issues/reused assets and then call this a good game. The open world is easily the most glaring flaw because its so empty and generic. Unlike games like BOTW or Witcher 3 there aren't many ways you can interact with the environment outside of picking up useless crafting materials. The optional dungeons are essentially chalice dungeons from bloodborne except with more copy and paste boss designs and rewards that make going through them seem like a waste of time(spoiler, they are). For all the fuss about GRR martin being the writer there is very little payoff. I was hoping he would give a more solid narrative other than the usual endless stream of item descriptions that are beyond overplayed at this point but I guess I expected too much from what everyone is calling a "masterpiece". The combat is(you guessed it) more of the same. The only difference is that there is a jump button which has very little impact on what you do when fighting, you'll still be dodging, hitting, and then chugging estus in between. Anyone claiming this is good combat needs to be reminded how many souls games there have been and how it isn't impressive anymore. As a veteran I expected much more from the combat but hey, masterpiece amiright? The NPC's are just as generic as the world they inhabit. The moment I encountered a talking jar was the point where I knew all semblance of immersion had been tossed out the window. No longer is there any coherence between what they are doing vs what you're doing in the world, now its just wacky nonsense. As a souls veteran I'm pretty disgusted with the praise elden ring has received. It does nothing better than the original dark souls or demons souls so putting it on a pedestal just shows how easily reviews can be bought and fool casuals. I use this game as a litmus test to see how easily fooled someone is by video game hype, disregard any positive opinion on this game as market brainwashing, because that's all it usually is.

I liked the aesthetic and music but the combat is what ruined the game for me, its just so simplistic and uninspired. Just the same ol dodge hit, dodge hit strategy for everything with no variation other than ranged attacks which do so little damage that they're worthless. It could've been better if the main character actually fought like a crow(immersion, what a concept) but I guess the easy solution is to just give him a sword and call it a day. I know morons are quick to jump to the "hey look only TWO people made this" excuse but that really has no bearing on the quality of the game which is mediocre at best. Big stinker. Impressively bad game. For the game called "Kakarot" you don't really play as Goku at all except for the beginning and a few boss fights. There are so many parts of the DBZ show that was cut out that could've easily immersed you into the role of Goku like the snake way arc, it only serves to undermine the games premise by removing stuff like this because we all know the story of DBZ by now. Id be fine with playing as other characters if they played differently but they don't. Each fight plays out the same, mash attack button and then spam your energy attack when the enemy is stunned. When you're not fighting you'll be flying around collecting whatever garbage an npc needs to progress the story or grinding side missions until you're at a level that can take on the next enemy. The way the game gates you off with xp is really dumb, no matter how flawless you play if the enemy is a higher level you will lose because they'll just get hyper armor for no reason and kill you in one hit. Its really frustrating knowing that you cant beat the game with skill, all you can do is grind xp to the next lvl and that's it, no strategy whatsoever. The amount of random encounters would make a jrpg blush. Get ready to fight that same skull robot because they always show up around your objective and apparently every square inch of the planet earth. Its the most blatant example of padding I've ever seen, literally just there to waste your time. This only gets more annoying as the game goes on and IT NEVER STOPS. The flying is pretty bad as well. I don't know what some people are smoking but to me it was stiff and boring to control. It just doesn't feel fluid or intuitive, the characters move like their in a blender animation and it looks terrible. What's worse is how the levels are separated, you cant just fly to kamis lookout and back to chi chis place because you have to go through a level select screen and a loading screen. Call me crazy but the fun factor of flying in DBZ is freedom, being able to fly anywhere but ironically the game seems almost uninterested in immersion. This was the opportunity to make the end all be all DBZ game and I think bandai squandered it simply because they knew it would sell on brand recognition alone, and frankly they were right. Personally as a DBZ fan I'm tired of seeing the same story being told over and over and this game does a piss poor job of that in the first place so its a failure on two levels: it doesn't immerse you into the role of Goku and it doesn't re tell the story of DBZ in a satisfying way.

Halo Infinite had the opportunity to cement itself as the dominate multiplayer fps as Halo 3 once did but unfortunately it feels like an unfinished product due to some key missing features and a few mindbogglingly bad design decisions. First the stuff that has been removed which was standard in previous games -No campaign co op -Cant replay missions in campaign without starting new game -No split screen multiplayer -No dual wielding weapons -No forge -No slayer or team slayer playlists -No swat or infection playlists -No griffball -Armor customization now costs money -No stat tracking -No input based matchmaking so you're forced to fight PC sweats -Battlepass. I could write pages on how stuff like this is cancer to the gaming industry but I think the prices for armor colors speak for themselves. -No spartan laser(seriously what the hell) The campaign could have been good if you didn't just go through either bland grey hallways or the same green forest environment the entire game. The story presentation in general was pretty bad, most of the important info is given through audio logs in typical boring open world fashion. Speaking of open world most of the campaign is like a bad far cry game where(you guessed it) you take over bases by killing the same enemies ad nauseum. I give one point for the grapple because its a fun mechanic. The multiplayer **** in all kinds of ways the most obvious of which being the battle pass which is the worst thing to happen to halo but I digress. The Big team battle maps are awful because they don't have any open space to improvise with vehicles, everything must be driven on the predetermined paths which makes everything feel formulaic. Even worse is the game has random vehicle spawns so your team can get screwed by RNG that will sometimes give the losing team game winning vehicles like tanks, its honestly a joke. Overall Infinite is an obviously incomplete game that was sold way before it was ready in order to get the jump on battlefield and cod. To me this is the worst Halo game, not just because of the predatory monetization but because its so bland in everything it attempts without any of the polish of the previous halo games. I honestly cannot comprehend why Microsoft continues to let 343 run this series into the ground.

Idk how it's possible but I went from actively anticipating this game to despising it, well done dice and ea. Honestly this is the worst battlefield since hardline, I'd rather get t-bagged in halo than play another second of this.

I'm a huge fan of the series but even with fanboy goggles idk how you could excuse this game even on a technical level, never mind the awful story(even when compared to the other games) and mind-numbingly boring combat. There's a few good boss fights but this is easily the weakest of the trilogy. The open world performance might actually be worse than the original because the pop in and frame rate drops are far more frequent than 1 which ran pretty smooth for a wii game but 3 has no excuse given its on more advanced technology. Id be more forgiving of the open world if it was more than just a retread of the first game but it isn't, you'll be doing the same padded out gameplay as before only not as charming because its just more of the same. The combat is honestly pretty garbage and kind of proves that most people praising it never played the original games. The low/high stance mechanic has been replaced with a generic light/heavy attack move set that gets old very quickly. The game also introduces cooldown abilities which just shows how the devs are trying to appeal to morons who need to spam things like the deathglove to win. And the story, hooo boy what a heap of garbage. Further proof that the "gamers" praising it never played the first 2 games because if they did then it would be obvious how much NMH3 jumps the shark from a writing standpoint. Now I know what those who were dropped at a young age will probably say, "bUt dA FiRsT GaEmZ WeR SiLLy ToO" but what they fail to understand is that the originals were gradual in their absurdity, they built up to their moments where as 3 blows its load right from the start. Beyond the Intro cutscene the game is in a constant downward spiral of references to past games, 4th wall breaking that stopped being funny a while ago, and cutscenes that never know when to stop The music is easily the worst of the trilogy, I had high hopes after hearing that red orca was a track until I found out they butchered the best part of the song and that it was the only memorable piece of music in the entire game. None of the other tracks stood out to me. Bottom line: this is the third game in a series that does very little to innovate from the previous entries and in stead opts to retread the same territory of the first game while repeating the same mistakes. If you're a binary thinking monkey who enjoys "LOL so randum!" type humor then you will probably clap your hands at the funny things/pretty colors on screen but if you're a dedicated fan of the series and wanted to see anything other than more of the same then you'll be left out in the cold.

A lazy imitation of the left4dead formula that will likely be forgotten due to the fact that it does nothing better than old source engine games that came out over a decade ago. After turtle rocks massive failure that was evolve they decided to take another swing only this time they made sure to make the title similar to their most successful game to dupe as many people as possible into playing their game. The desperation can be seen in even in the title "back4blood" without that and the constant reminder of "hey remember us? we made left for dead! evolve? no no don't pay attention to that" this game would have been even more dead on arrival than it currently is. Its a game that has no confidence in its gameplay so it markets itself as a "l4d successor" to deter criticism. I could go into detail about everything this game fails at but what's truly sad about back4blood is that you don't even need to do that to know why its a terrible game, you only need to ask the question "why would I play this over Left4Dead 2?" and the reality is that there is no reason because b4b is an imitation by design and therefore will always live in the shadow of its older brother.

Metroid Dread

On one hand there are some fun moments but on the other Dread commits some of the biggest sins in the entire metroid series. +Controls: Very fluid, probably my favorite aspect of the game. Running has a good speed to it and the speed booster feels great, grabbing ledges is fast and easy, and the new abilities tie into movement rather well. -Repeated boss fights: The first time you destroy the robot pursuer is pretty cool but its not something that needed to be repeated six times, the spear wielding enemies suffer in that regard too since they all have the same attack pattern. The few(only two) bosses outside of those are pretty good but its not enough to compensate for how formulaic it all feels. -Terrible map and level design: Cluttered is the word I would use to describe the map of Dread. There's simply too many icons plastered all over the screen anytime you want to look at the map, its pretty sad that a metroid game of all things has such a sloppily designed map. The areas also don't flow into one another since they are all disconnected via tram systems or teleporters, all of which use loading screens. -Forced linearity: This is probably the most hand-holdy game since fusion for pretty much the same reasons, there's very few opportunities to just explore because the game is always railroading you to the next objective that the computer explains to you in boring detail. The game even goes a step further by making item locations bright and flashing on the map so even babies can understand. -Poor technical performance: There are noticeable framerate drops when you use the speed booster(probably why there are so few shinespark locations) and when you use the lock on missile on multiple enemies. I think the technical limitations of the switch are starting to show, at best it runs slightly better than the 3ds game samus returns but that isn't exactly a high bar. Newcomers will like Dread but as a longtime fan of the series I wasn't impressed and at worst I was annoyed, but I'm sure the hype machine will lable it as "teh best gaem evaaar" so don't let my criticism deter you.

Just a warning, there are advertisements for micro transaction dlc shoved in your face when camping with your party, disgusting and inexcusable for an rpg. The combat is mindless button button mashing and the worst part is the characters NEVER SHUT Up they're just constantly screaming random lines like they have mental issues, it's so annoying. The story is laughably bad, it's almost as if the game is trying to be a cliché ridden mess. The characters all have weird designs that make them look like they're from separate games, the main Character has an armor eyepatch, nuff said. If you're a weeb you'll probably like this but otherwise stay far away.

Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster

A very good remaster of Final Fantasy 3, yes it does have some minor flaws but I would still argue that this is the definitive version since it adds some much needed quality of life changes that make the experience much more enjoyable that it was before. There are a few changes to gameplay the most obvious being the auto battle feature which makes the encounter rate much less of a pain, there's now a run function when not in the overworld, omni directional movement, phoenix downs are much more common, secret passages now have subtle visual clues, and the dungeons now have an optional map you can use. The visuals are very well done, I know many enjoyed the DS version but I think this pixel remaster is a much more elegant solution than the ds versions big ugly polygons. The sprites, levels, and attack effects have all been remade from the ground up but surprisingly it all meshes together evenly, nothing feels out of place..............well except for one incredibly obvious flaw. The text format. As many others have said the text that is used for dialogue looks horrible compared to everything else and what's worse is that they already use a better text format for damage calculation so there's literally no reason for it to look this bad. I think it goes without saying that the re orchestrated music sounds fantastic and was my primary reason for buying this game. Nobuo Uematsu oversaw the music and it shows, every track has the level of quality you would expect from his work and in my opinion elevates the atmosphere of FF3 much higher than it was. This is also highly subjective but I think eternal wind is the standout track and possibly the best overworld theme in the entire series. The story and characters wont blow you away, its a very basic light vs dark story with all the fantasy tropes you would expect **** from the famicom era. That being said the plot gets the job done, it never draws anything out more than it needs to so the pacing is relatively quick in that regard but this has the drawback of never allowing you to get attached to the characters you meet since they pop in and out of the adventure so quickly. Pros: +remastered music sounds amazing +pixelated visuals pays homage to original style but isnt afraid to improve things like the water effects +auto battle and other QOL changes make playing the game a breeze Cons: -terrible looking font looks terrible -game is incredibly easy with exception of a few bosses

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Another minimum effort port by Nintendo that fanboys will gladly light themselves on fire to defend. The character models have been remastered in HD but the textures on the levels themselves did not get the same treatment, so there is this weird juxtaposition any time you're not in a dungeon(eg most of the time). Its nice that the motion controls are optional but this is something emulators figured out years ago, it hardly warrants a full 60 dollar price tag considering the only other improvement is making Fi talk less. The QOL improvements are nice but the core problems of SS weren't the controls or visuals but rather a lack of content both in the sky and in the ground below. Playing SS again its easy to see why nintendo moved away from this style of zelda, the intro alone takes hours before you even get the sword and up to that point its just dialogue and cutscenes which a stark contrast to Breath of The Wild a game that takes only minutes to get going. The pacing in general is pretty bad compared to most Zelda games and it comes down to the sheer amount of padding throughout the game. The amount of backtracking you have to do is beyond excessive, there's only 3 explorable areas and you'll be going back to each one THREE TIMES, I dare anyone who played this to tell me collecting the songs at the end was fun, I finished the game just for the sake of writing this review otherwise I would have dropped the game. Listen if you like SS that's fine, but allowing nintendo to release port after port with low effort and maximum price only tells them that you're okay with the same garbage being served to you over and over again. Idk about you but personally Id rather have new and innovative games like BOTW than lazy ports that dwell in the past.
