Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed is even more fun than the first remake with improved and colorful visuals, smooth gameplay and the same amazing sounds that we know and love. Some games don’t need to be improved but we sure are glad this one was.

Whereas another kind of Crypto is making waves in the world, THQ’s is a welcome, nostalgic character that will take you on a literal mind-bending trip. If you can overlook the frustrating technical issues that try to mar your enjoyment throughout your Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed! journey, then there’s a cracking game here to soak in! From start to finish, its story, characters, and satisfying gameplay reinforce that this remake lives up to expectations and delivers a stellar sandbox stay that doesn’t look out of place in 2022.

It's funny, it's creative, it plays very well, and it looks great. Sure, they didn't have the budget of some bigger studios, so a few things aren't perfect. I regularly experience a lack of Vsync / screen tearing (a little annoying but nothing mayor), sometimes two people are sitting in the same spot so they're "in" each other, and perhaps there are some more bugs like it, but I've had zero crashes, and no bugs that affected gameplay. I loved part one, I love this one, and I really hope the final Destroy All Humans is also remade, or maybe one day they'll release a new game in the series all together. I'd buy it day one, no question.

I had to make an account just to post my own review after seeing some of the pretentious miserable “critics” opinions of this game. If you can’t find the humour in inserting anal probes into NPCs butts while their heads explode so you can collect their brains, in a game called “Destroy All Humans” - a game that’s about playing a little alien stereotype from the 50’s and 60’s, and if you think that such a thing is tantamount to “sexual assault” (genuinely what the idiotic PushSquare review said) then that’s your own failing and this game isn’t for you. Thank Christ it stayed as true as possible to the original, because it’s pretty clear people nowadays don’t even know what humour is. All that aside, the game is as great as I could have imagined for a PS2 remake. It looks and plays great on PS5, has a great array of weapons and skins, NPCs react and look great. It’s genuinely hilarious to just romp around as a psychotic alien doing a Jack Nicholson impersonation. Mission structure is admittedly a little dated at this point but it still flows well enough and you can always play free roam once you’ve done the main missions to either mess around or gather collectibles. The addition of co-op is great and even has some cool mini games that weren’t in the original too. Anyone who says this is just a lazy remake is a grade A moron. I’ve seen some lazy remakes and this really ain’t one of them. You can tell that the team cared about the original game. It’s also not even being sold at full “PS5 game” price either, which makes me even more baffled by the negative reviews it seems to have gotten. Anyway, if you want a laugh, to kick back, and dare I say it destroy some humans, this game is for you.

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed is not hard to recommend for gamers who missed it the first time around, or remember it fondly and want to play it again. It looks, sounds and controls like a current title, and most of the jokes hold up just fine. Not all the gameplay mechanics and mission designs feel that fresh anymore, and it can feel simplistic and repetitive against the backdrop of recent action games. Like the remake of the original Destroy All Humans!, it’s hard not to wish that Black Forest had gone further into actual reboot territory, because the narrative bones, characters, and style could be something special in a more open-world, contemporary game.

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed is like a younger, more immature sibling of the original. Gameplay wise, it is bolder and more logically put together, but overall it lacks the comedic intelligence that the original presented. Sure, Destroy All Humans! wasn’t exactly an intellectual experience, but it did offer discussions on social commentary that had a lot to say about society as a whole and problems with 1950s America. It seems as though the developers spent more time on improving gameplay than they did on developing a script and story that would offer the same elements of satire and intellect as the first. Although the original was released in 2006, a very different time socially and politically, this remaster could have ironed out a number of the narrative problematic edges. Unfortunately, by sticking with the “nature and soul” of the original release, the world of Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed doesn’t quite feel right in this more progressive world of 2022.

Like many of the B-movies that inspired it, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed isn’t something that will be considered great by a general consensus, but does have a certain appeal to the right audience. The game makes many attempts at subtle and not-so-subtle innuendos and while the intention is humor, many of them fall flat. Not because they’re offensive, they just mostly go for the low hanging fruit which may have been more risque in 2006, but nowadays just doesn’t seem that creative. There are sections of enjoyable gameplay, but these moments come as part of a greater narrative that’s difficult to care about. Fans of low-budget sci-fi are clearly the target audience, and for those this will probably be a good time, but there are better options available for the rest of us.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed might be a brutally honest remake of the original game, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant to sit through all its rough parts. Few elements of the core gameplay remain as fun as they were on the PS2, but it's far too shallow to be worth it, especially when it is still riddled with performance issues that can seriously effect your experience.

Enjoyed every minute of it, a well done remaster. The game doesn’t take it so serious, with jokes that don’t fit the current woke climate it’s a breath of fresh air.

Good- Vibrant, detailed graphics; Updated controls and UI; Great, fun-filled gameplay that still holds up. Bad- Inconsistent performance; Lots of bugs. Thoughts- Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed does a great job in most ways. By letting the writing and core concepts of the original game shine by not changing them much and overhauling the two areas that really needed it – the controls and the visuals – it absolutely has the right idea for how to remake a PS2-era classic. The jokes are still funny, the story is still a ridiculous rollercoaster ride of nonsense, and the gameplay and visuals have been given the upgrade they deserve. If the whole package was properly polished off and ran as well as it clearly could and should, I’d be over the moon. But as it is, it’s a tentative recommendation assuming the more serious bugs I mentioned get ironed out. That aside, for the price, Reprobed does seem to have most of the fundamentals in place for a successful modernization of a series that still clearly has plenty of life left in it.

I was having such fun with the game until the final level before blasting off to the moon. The game corrupted ALL my save files, on my PS5 and the cloud. This after perhaps 16 hours of game play. I was on my way to finishing and giving this a solid 8/10, however, when I checked and found out that the save glitch has been prevalent since the release and the Devs have done absolutely nothing to fix it, I can only give them a big middle finger and rate this a big 0 since it is effectively a broken game and they couldn't care less to fix. Thanks for wasting many hours of life you lazy #@$#^#
