BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING Walk with flashlight in the darkness -> monster jumps out of a closet after you pass by -> change to weapon and shoot -> wander around to find a audio record -> read the stupid audio file to find a password -> open the keylock -> repeat x10000000 God. One of the most overrated game of all time.

Highly overrated. Most of all, the whole story is just bland. What is worse, you can see the story advances only in intermissions, not in missions. That makes the stealth-play extremely booooooring. Or you can slaughter everything on. But it's not really on par with the full-pledged action games. It's just ok. You better play a real action game rather than this mediocre action game. I don't think it's a bad game. But then again, it's not a masterpiece either.

While lots of games have claimed to be old-school RPG these days, this is the only old-school RPG that is true to "old-school". Really, old-school RPG meant straight-forward story, fun combat and lots of exploration. While there are some balance issues - like totally overpowered dagger-dual-wielding blademaster and nigh useless archery, the turn-based combat is fun and strategic. And the main story line is somewhat bland and ends abruptly, it works fine. I wish they would publish more of this franchise line. I really do. 7.5/10

Planescape: Torment10

It is the first true epic game and an instant classic. But it is not without its flaws. First of all, it has way too many fedex type quests. It is too boring. That's -0.5. And then its combat is royally broken. So that's another -0.5. But then again, as I say again, it's the first true epic game, so I give it +1 bonus, that it's 10.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of The Betrayer10

A true classic RPG in its own. Any serious RPG fan should play this game. Not any single RPG has achieved this level of mastery over epic story, not even Planescape (because PS is not really an RPG, but an adventure) has. While combat is not really balanced, it's far better than expected, considering how broken D&D 3.5 mechanic is. In real D&D 3.5 pen and paper RPG, high level gaming is so broken that you cannot play at all.

The most definite example of the downfall of crowd-funding. It is full of great ideas but executed -very- poorly. It lags like hell and crashes to the desktop like every minute. It has serious connection problems but has no off-line mode. And that without save functionality. Gamewise, strategic depth is too shallow. The variety of fations or units are extremely limited. AI is stupid. Pathfinding is way too primitive. All in all. It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far from finished. And they are already preparing another game on the kickstarter. What? It is quite unethical of them. Don't buy this s*t. It's not worth your money.

NO, this is -NOT- RPG. This is a super-repeating-to-death-pixel-hunting puzzle game. Stay away from this if you want to play an RPG. This is not Bard's Tale, Wizardry or Might and Magic, like it claims to be. It is just a poor pathfinding puzzle game. Its stat/skill system and combat mechanics are broken and just don't work as they are supposed to be. All you do is strafing and kiting the enemies by tile, then mindlessly walking back and forth pressing stupid plates and torturing your eyes to find random switches on the ever-same-looking walls, all the way through the day and night. And am I supposed to have fun doing that crap? HELL NO. If I wanted an action adventure, I would play a real one like BioShock, not this boring pseudo-action game riddled with god-awful puzzles.

Wasteland 26

A mixed bag you got here. I like "Choose and take the consequences." aspect of quests. I really do. It is one of the best in that aspect. But other than that, it is not up to expectations. Most of all, the combat is way too boring. Can you believe it? It is no better than the text combat of original Wasteland which was made nearly 30 years ago. No, it's worse, because it is slower. What is worse, you have to repeat it endlessly. And the skills. There are bunch of pointless skills and it requires you to use it over and over and over and over and over and over again. Oh god, I cannot overemphasize how boring it is. And there is no creativity of what so ever in using skill. Just a sickening amount of grinding. You may think it's not really a problem. But it is. It takes too much time just to pick a lock on a random box, or to open a door. If it had been an adventure game(combats and skills stripped off), it would have been better. But as an RPG, it is not a masterpiece they promised. It is just an ok game.

This is a pleasant surprise from Larian studio, who have kept releasing so-so games. It is an instant classic that any serious RPG fan should play. I never imagined there would be a room for improvement to old-school RPGs. But they managed to pull off. And applaud to them.
