Let me start by saying that if you enjoy RTT games, or have enjoyed even one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you should not miss this game! It is perhaps the most expansive game of its kind and has a big, fun, swashbuckling story to enjoy. This is the Mimimi gameplay at its finest, with their most visually stunning game to boot and featuring a fantastic soundtrack. Such a shame the studio closed! The game follows a very colorful and likeable cast of undead pirates as they make their way across Caribbean isles and oceans in search of treasure and battling the pesky Inquisition. Because this has a fantasy pirate setting, each character has a very creative set of abilities to help them sneak around and take out enemies. I enjoyed experimenting with everyone's abilities and choosing a team for a mission, with the right mix of skills, was very satisfying. They are all also very well written and voice acted with fleshed out stories, depending on how much dialogue and activites you engage with. Quite a feat considering you can get up to ten crew mates. There are several islands to explore and you'll visit them multiple times during the game. This wasn't as repetitive as it might sound, as most islands are quite massive, and you can land on and explore a different part of it each time. There is a bit of late game repetition, but for me the story was engaging enough to keep pushing forward. Such a terrible shame about the studio... they were the absolute best in this genre! I love their other games as well. Now go play this masterpiece!

Resident Evil Requiem is a phenomenal game. It manages to bring all the best aspects from past games to give you a satisfying blend of horror and action. The pacing is also expertly handled. One moment you're creeping around with limited resources in a survival horror fashion and next you're blowing things up and chopping zombie heads off with a hatchet. It's a great mix and both playstyles work well together. Grace is also a great character to the series and wonderfully acted as a fragile, scared protagonist to really make you feel the fear. Leon is back as an old, grizzled zombie killing machine and has never felt this good to control. The story is entertaining enough, with intriguing villains and good nostalgia for RE veterans. Visually the game is jaw-dropping. Everything has photo-realistic detail, looks sharp and runs smoothly... more Capcom voodoo. This is one of the best Resident Evil games in years and I hope it is the template for all future games in the franchise.
Spectacular follow-up to one of Playstation's greatest masterpieces. It doesn't reinvent the wheel in terms of gameplay, but instead focuses on and improves the combat for a much more varied and fluid play style. Visually it is absolutely gorgeous! The large open plains, with Mount Yotei stretching out on the horizon and a panoramic view while on horseback, is truly a sight to behold. The exploration feels more or less the same, but the NPCs you meet along the way aren't as strong and memorable as the ones in the first game. The story for me was very good - a powerful tale of revenge, loss, grief and closure. It really resonated with me and is helped by the good voice acting of the main characters and the strong musical score, which is worthy of awards. An excellent sequel and yet another Playstation classic.
Incredibly creepy atmosphere; spooky, haunting level design and some horrific monsters along with one or two jump scares make up this short but memorable game where you explore a dark, strange island in search of your friends. The pace keeps you unnerved most of the time and the chase sequences are absolutely exhilarating. This type of game has definitely become a new sub-genre of horror and I hope to see more of it, especially from Tarsier!
A very underrated game and a horror masterpiece in my opinion. Absolutely terrifying. Keeps you unnerved and creeped out most of the time with genius audio design and dark, moody visuals. Some scary monster design and brutal, visceral combat keeps you on your toes. The story is just OK though, and the inventory management can be a bit of a pain, but if you enjoy games like FEAR and Condemned you have to try this.

What a masterclass of horror gaming. I was genuinely terrified most of the time. A great indie game, despite its numerous shortcomings. A quick synopsis: You're a software engineer that wakes up on an abandoned space station and have to piece together what has happened to everyone and what has caused the station lockdown. The game plays a lot like Outlast 1 and 2 with a bit more interactivity, though not to the extent of Alien Isolation. The similarities here is the gorgeous retro-futuristic aesthetic, with in-world UI elements and fantastic sound design, all working together really well to immerse you into this world. Heck... the audio is perhaps some of the best I've experienced in a horror game... definitely play with good headphones! The main gameplay involves moving around the station reading notes/letters/emails, solving puzzles and interacting with terminals while avoiding a few stalker-type enemies. You're equipped with a tool that can help you with puzzles and doors, but against enemies it is fairly useless. Best to just run and hide like those other games. This is where the audio shines, as you can use it to quite accurately keep track of where enemies are via the creepy noises they make. Some of the monster design is also absolutely ingenious.. created to make you completely crap yourself and with a few very clever jump scares to boot! The only issues I had with the game is that your helmet light can't be manually switched on and off. It comes on by itself sometimes but this only happened once or twice. I don't know why games still do this. Sometimes I had to just walk through pitch black hallways. You can use the tool for some light, but it's not ideal. My second gripe was interacting with terminals using a controller. The game was defintely designed for mouse and keyboard and using a thumbstick to navigate emails and control panels was quite laborious. Lastly, the game really needed a map. Some of the areas look very similar and it's hard to keep track of what is where. And since there is some backtracking in the game, a map would've been welcome. This is even more frustrating when you are trying to solve puzzles in these maze-like areas while being hunted by a stalker enemy. Issues aside, I still enjoyed this game a lot and was absolutely terrified. Not a very long game but well worth the long wait.

I don't really understand all the hype. This game is a 6/10 at best. While the depth of combat is fantastic, it is let down by extremely repetitive enemy encounters and bland, archaic level design. So much so that it does a disservice to the combat itself, especially during encounters with hordes of low-level, spongey enemies that you just button-mash your way through. Most boss fights were easy and trivial. The characters were also nothing special and the story didn't hook me. I know people are saying they don't play NG for the story or level design, but let's be real people - all of those aspects needed to be great for the 4th installment! We live in 2025 and the expectations are just higher for action games. Visually it also looks like a remastered PS3 game. I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and the majority of Platinum Games' other titles way more than this.
This game truly nails the aesthetic and atmosphere of the movies. While technically not on par with more modern graphics, I still think the visuals look good and do a great job of bringing this world to life. Enjoyed the gameplay as well and was suprised at how tough it can be on a higher difficulty, but felt like it added the right amount of tension and panic in certain scenarios. And those Xenos are relentless! They can swipe you in about two hits on Expert. They also tend to sneak up on you and I got jumped a few times during the game. They are quite terrifying to encounter, especially when they hunt you in packs! All-in-all I had a blast. The game is a must-play for Alien fans and worth a look for anyone that enjoys FPS horror with some action.

One of the best survival horror games I've played in a while. An incredibly scary, stressful and tense experience with limited ammo, health, resources and inventory space to manage. Beautifully haunting visuals, great soundtrack and intriguing protagonist round off this wonderful package. A must-play for Dead Space fans and definitely worth a look for any gamer that enjoys horror.

Very interesting direction for the series and a welcome one at that. I've played all the good SH games, and although I love the titular town, it's also nice to see the survival horror in a different setting. The game's Japanese town has the word "hill" (when translated) in the name. Besides that, the psychological themes and personal demons of the well-written and acted main character are thoroughly explored and wonderfully implemented into the gameplay, by way of the horrors and locations you encounter. I've only done one playthrough so far, but I'm intrigued to play again for a different ending. Visually stunning, thought provoking and genuinely scary, this is a must for SH fans and anyone who loves horror.

Indie gaming at its absolute finest. Continues the magic of games like Journey, Abzu and The Pathless to transport you to yet another beautiful world in which you have fluid gameplay to enjoy and incredible scenery to behold! An unquestionable must-play!
Only played it recently after it has received a lot of updates I suppose, and I can say that I had a really good 80 hours with this game. Gorgeous, mesmerizing open world. I really felt like I was transported to middle-age Japan. Fun assassin gameplay, which is the best way to play. Naoe's movement and controls are super fluid and smooth. Yasuke was fine to play as, but felt big and sluggish (like he was designed to). Much preferred the shinobi gameplay. There's lots to see and do in the open world and I'm excited to jump back in when I eventually buy the expansion.

I'll start off by saying that this game really suprised me. It was way better than I expected it to be. Genuinely scary at times and dripping with atmosphere in some levels; the developers really nailed the horror. This game was probably patched a bit since launch because it wasn't too buggy for me and the combat didn't feel too clunky. Ammo and health are scarce at times, and melee combat or sneaking is defintely required. You really have to think how to approach some encounters. The story was intriguing and the ending was absolutely bonkers.. did not see that coming! At times it felt like I was playing the Silent Hill 2 remake and at other times it felt like The Evil Within, and I make these comparisons with praise. If you like horror games, this is definitely worth your time.
Initially quite an interesting game, that dazzles with its presentation, but falls a bit short in the gameplay department and gets repetitive. The environments are beautifully created with a very unique art style. Honestly, some of the best looking swamps I've seen in gaming. The voice acting is also really good, with a likeable protagonist and side characters. The way the story is told, like a fairy tale book at times, is also well done. Excellent presentation overall. The music, although done really well, wasn't quite for me most of the time, but I'm sure many will enjoy it.
Unfortunately, the gameplay is very basic. These gorgeous levels you find yourself in are quite empty, with very simple platforming and exploration. Combat also boils down to arena fights and you fight the same enemies throughout the entire game. Your combos and abilities can result in a nice rhythm in combat, but it is very easy and basic.
The story also didn't do it for me most of the time. Only towards the end of the game, when it all started to come together, did I feel a little invested.
This game has a lot of charm and you can tell that a lot of love and passion went into this story, so I appreciate it for that. I just wish the gameplay was better though...
This game is a modern masterpiece! Definite indie GOTY contender. With beautiful visuals, excellent gameplay, a deep thought-provoking story and a phenomenal soundtrack... this game shows that indies can be of far better quality than bigger, AAA games. If you enjoy metroidvanias then this is a no-brainer. If you haven't yet dipped your toe into the genre, this is an excellent place to start. I would also recommend you play Ender Lilies too; another fantastic game well worth your time.

One of the most unique games I have ever played. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something different. This game expertly blends a basic hack-n-slash play style with a tower defense mode, all under a very well-done Japanese mythology aesthetic. There is also a bit of simple base and upgrade management in between defense missions and boss fights, which makes for very relaxing downtime. A beautiful artstyle and very nice music round off what is a wonderful love letter to Japanese culture.

Eternal Strands is a gorgeous fantasy RPG with fun combat and adventuring. It draws inspiration from games like Breath of the Wild, Shadow of the Colossus and maybe even a little Monster Hunter to create a wonderful world of monsters and magic to explore. Firstly, I have to talk about the visuals. This is an absolutely stunning game to look at, especially during the daytime missions. Honestly, the prettiest version of this type of art style I have ever seen. Vibrant colours and beautiful vistas make up most of the biomes. The game also ran quite smooth and is extremely well polished. Now the gameplay took a while to click for me - a few hours actually - but once it did I was having a lot of fun. The exploration, mob fighting and resource collection are very much where the Zelda inspiration comes in, but arguably the main draw of this game is the Shadow of the Colossus part... the giant monster slaying. These duels are very well done and the sense of scale when you climb these giants is absolutely on point. It was exhilarating to slay these monsters the first few times, but you have to go back and fight them a few times over to get more upgrade materials, which while still fun, loses that initial rush. And that leads me to my only real criticism of the game - it was a bit padded with repetition and was a bit too long. It will take anywhere from 25 to 30 hours to beat, depending on how much you want to explore and upgrade. The story was fine, nothing special, but all the dialogue (of which there was a lot) was well voice-acted and the characters were all likeable. I never felt like I was bored with their conversations, unlike other games where they don't add voices for some lines, and you have to sit and read. Combat-wise the game is quite simple, with a few fun weapons to use, although I wish there was more variety. Decent amount of spells though, which were fun to use and experiment with. Overall this is a really fun game and an amazing first project from the studio. Well done! I would welcome a sequel!

This was quite an interesting adventure game and a good Indiana Jones story, but not what I expected though, for better or worse.
I'll start with what I liked about the game. This is a big AAA game with an enormous production budget, and it shows. The visuals are incredible. I was at times amazed how well it looked and ran for a console game and completely mesmerized by the scenery. They also did an excellent job at bringing Indiana Jones to life in this game. Troy Baker did a masterclass in voice acting, as usual, bringing the character to life (Harrison Ford approves). Most of the other main characters were also well modeled and acted. The detail in the world and all the areas is just astounding. Gameplay-wise I liked some aspects of the combat and cracking the whip always felt good. Some of the tombs were fun to explore and a few puzzles were fun to solve.
But this brings me to the things I felt mixed on or just didn't enjoy. There is a huge emphasis on exploring old tombs and puzzle solving, but to an extent that turns this into a rather boring walking simulator at times. There are long stretches in the game where you just do this, with not much to break it up. The story takes place across various places around the world, and each of these locations are like a mini open world, but with a very unsophisticated fast travel system, so you end up running everywhere on foot most of the time. Exploring some of these places got very tedious. I felt that this was so unnecessary and that the game would have benefited from smaller hub areas and more well-crafted, linear quests, because these were excellent and really stood out. The combat also wasn't my favourite. I like the audio design and some of the visual flare of the brawling, but it just doesn't work in first person. Felt too clunky and silly. Using firearms are also heavily discouraged, so you're forced to sneak through most scenarios with poor stealth mechanics and moronic enemy AI. There's also a stamina system which felt very unnecessary, as were all the upgrades tied to it and your health. And all the items you have to keep consuming to keep your guard and stamina boosted all the time felt like filler. In terms of it being a first person game, I think it would've been WAY better in third person. I mean there are some scenes, like object interactions and the main menu screen, where you see the game in third person and I think that would've worked so much better!
All-in-all, not a bad game, but also not a great game. High production values and fun story, but some questionable execution. A solid 8/10.
First ever Mechwarrior game I played and this one completely blew me away! Literally and figuratively! The game has a long enough and challenging story mode, where you command a squad of Mechwarriors through a few theatres of war. You can choose the mech and loadout for every squad member and upgrade everything as you go. Each squad member also has specific strengths, which become important to note when you are selecting their loadout. Then comes the mech combat.. and ooh boy, it goes hard. As a first timer, the learning curve and rising difficulty really took me by suprise, but is great for motivating you to get to know the game and tinker with different mech builds to suit the challenge. Using a bit of strategy and tactics on the battlefield also goes a long way, especially later in the game. Visually the game looks good and the mission design was varied and action-packed. The story was also interesting to follow and the cutscenes were beautifully rendered. Something also has to be said about the audio design and soundtrack... nicely done. Really enjoyed my time with this game and would definitely check out any of Smoke Jaguars' future adventures!
Fun, weird little scifi stealth game. This is a pure stealth game with little combat. Your main enemies are AI controlled robots, which can be hacked and outsmarted in various ways. You get a lot of tools and hacking skills throughout the game, which gives the enemy encounters great variety, almost like a stealth puzzle to solve every time. You collect parts to upgrade your skills and do training simulations to get more upgrades. Visually the game has a nice scifi aesthetic, looking and running smooth most of the time. The story is okay and the game is not too long. Nice little sneaking adventure.
Wow what a surprising game. Played it for the first time after the Reign of Sand update and had a really good time. Reminded me of Darksiders 1 and 2 I played back in the day. Beautiful world and fun traversal. Not the most technically impressive game, but it had crisp, breathtaking vistas and ran smooth as silk, which is more than I can say for most AAA games releasing today. Combat is also quite unique and there is great variety in mixing and matching the Essence Stones and Idols to get a good build that suits you. Also the story and voice acting, although just serviceable, was quite enjoyable. This is peak AA gaming!

What a wonderful little game. Unbelievably beatifiul, artistic visuals. Didn't know games like this still existed. I took a lot of screenshots. Relaxing game with fun, simple platforming and combat gameplay. Wasn't too emotionally invested in the story and characters, even though it feels like I should have been... maybe I would have if it was a bit longer. Other than that it was a mesmerising experience.

POSITIVES: The game has very nice graphics and a very cool noir retropunk aesthetic.. like a 1950's Bladerunner. I liked the characters and the banter between them. Very well voice-acted. Some interesting crime scene set pieces to fast forward and rewind through with your reconstruction gadget. NEGATIVES: In terms of gameplay there isn't much to do. This is more a walking simulator than an adventure game. You basically walk around and look for whatever else is the next clue, but it's always one of the highlighted things you're supposed to interact with in the environment, so doesn't feel like you're solving anything really. The story is also all over the place and wasn't easy to keep track of. Random events happen with no background reference. You're left to guess what is going on, but not in a good way. And the ending I got was extremely underwhelming. I read that the other one is also bad. I'm honestly so over bad endings in games. Atleast the game isn't long, so I wasn't too invested. TLDR: The aesthetic, graphics and voice acting were all very good. Everything else was average to disappointing. Short game.
I'm 37 years old and I've only now, this year, played SS2 for the first time ever! Finished the SS1 remake and had to check out the sequel... and WOW! What an amazing game that still holds up today with just a few graphics mods applied. I am in awe of this game's magnitude and weep at its magnificence. We are all just a pathetic species of insects, beings of little significance, in the presence of the almighty SHODAN. I await her return!
What a surprisingly good game! Took me a while to get used to the combat, but when it clicks it really clicks! Decent weapons and magic to use and string together into combos. Enjoyed the story and the relationship between the protagonist and her magic fox companion. The loot and upgrade tree are also not as complex as other games, which streamlined the experience a lot. Visually not too impressive on a technical level, but the art direction and level design made the game look good. Definitely worth checking out!

Absolutely incredible game! Wow... Nightdive has made one of gaming's best remakes. I was completely drawn into the atmosphere of Citadel Station. Looks amazing and runs silky smooth. Seriously.. the visuals are so unique. Lots of exploration, combat and figuring stuff out. There are difficulty settings to make navigation and combat easier, so definitely more accessible to people who didn't play games before the internet lol. Now where the heck is System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition??
Played this when it launched and played it again recently... had an absolute blast! Sure, the story is not as strong as previous games and Terror Billy rarely features, but Neu-Paris looks amazing and the graphics still hold up today. The core gameplay is still great and feels a bit faster than previous games. It also has cool perks and weapon upgrades. I always saw this as more of a spin-off than a mainline entry and I think most people failed to view it as such.

What an amazing DLC! It's so big and expansive it honestly felt more like Elden Ring 1.5 or an entirely new spin-off game. Everything that made the base game great is here and then some. Forget what people have been saying about the difficulty... it's as hard as I remember Elden Ring being, so on point. Genuinely gorgeous environments to explore, fun enemies to fight and excellent bosses (well, most of them anyways).. and no spoilers, but my jaw dropped when I saw the last boss. Also kicked my ass all over the place lol. But the struggle and adrenaline you get from that and then the rush of excitement and relief when you beat these bosses are still here. Best DLC I have ever played!
What a gem of an indie game. Grabbed it on PS Plus, but even for the game's full price it's a steal. Heartfelt story and decent writing that is well voice acted (Bayek from AC Origins!). Beautiful art style and fast, snappy gameplay. It's a simple and straightforward metroidvania yet highly polished. Not too challenging, but you get a good couple of fun hours out of this. Really surprised me!
Just grabbed this on PS Plus and finished it. The is game is not as good as I had hoped. Deliver Us The Moon was great and had excellent atmosphere and environmental storytelling. Deliver Us Mars is a strange one though... the first 70% of the game is an absolute mind-numbing slog to get through with boring platforming, puzzles, storytelling and character development.. but then during the last stretch of the game it all improved and became more exciting. I'm honestly interested to see what's next but I hope the team doesn't punch above their weight again like with this game. They need to work on the overall quality to make everything more cinematic, improve character models and facial expressions to give the well-delivered dialogue more impact and make the animations of traversal not so goofy..
What an amazing game that lived up to the hype. Extremely polished at launch with excellent visuals, music, gameplay and performance. Eve moves and fights with such style and grace...heck, even her double jumps are something to behold. This game, at times, felt like Sekiro, Nier: Automata, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising all rolled into one which is just incredible. This is another PS5 classic!
This remaster has brought one of the greatest games of all time to a modern console and updated the controls for modern times. The graphical upgrade is incredible and it's an absolute joy to be able to play this game again! I hope we get 2 and 3 remastered as well before 4 releases! Metroid Prime is back baby!
Played this for the first time on my next-gen console and was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable this game was. Runs great, with smooth 60fps and a resolution bump, the environment looks good. Nice open world to explore and puzzle dungeons/secrets to find while you are adventuring to the next boss battle. And holy hell these boss battles are awesome! The sheer scale and size of these creatures and the arenas you fight them in are truly epic! Not sure how the game was at launch, but as it is now it is a good experience. Just remember to turn off those pesky survival mechanics..
