The main drawback of Ninja Gaiden 4 is its repetitive level design. It’s a real shame, because the game can be vibrant and stylish, and you could watch the ninja’s dance of death forever.

It’s tough to shake the feeling that Ninja Gaiden 4 parallels Yakumo himself. Extremely competent in its own right, but overshadowed and outmatched by a legend it doesn’t manage to live up to. It’s crazy that the first mainline series entry in over a decade is somehow only the third best Ninja Gaiden title to come out this year… but that’s how it is.

Ninja Gaiden has nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to its legacy. Thanks to its gameplay and technique, the blade in this episode is as sharp as it is fine, and the school of skill is on a roll. Quite simply, it's been a long time since we've had so much fun with a title of this genre. However, the overall presentation is far from the most stylish. In terms of its structure and ambition, it is not as spectacular as expected and does not deliver the slash we were hoping for. What remains nonetheless is the pleasure of quite a virtuous game.

This is a shame to all hack and slash that improved the genre, and it is a worse Ninja Gaiden game than Ninja Gaiden 3 vanilla. Not only that, for some reason, Team Ninja did not wanna make this game, and instead gave it to Platinum Games, which proved to be a lazy company that took the same Bayo/Nier combat mechanics and half-a$$ inserted NG2 mechanics, in the most lazy way possible. It's funny how despite Itegaki making the most unique action game in almost 20 YEARS AGO, neither Team Ninja nor Plastic games were able to elevate those mechanics further. The core unique combat/meta-game of the OG NG2 was learning to use the iframe moves right, while quickly killing enemies left and right. And yet, for some f-ing reason, ever since NGS2, they never tried to improve this. So, despite being well known as the best one, and lying to people about the "definitive" edition to NG2, aka NG2 Black, we, the fans, at least expected them to improve that formula in NG4. But what we got WAS NOT NG4 or even NG3 - it was Nier Gaiden Shinto Priest Wiafu with lame "side missions" with forced walk-sections, which Ratchet style grinding rails sections XD How can you do you?! The combat in this game is almost non-existent in most levels, and when you control Yakumo for 90% of the game, he feels so floaty! Oh! And enemies just tank Izuna drops like they did since Sigma 2, F-Off! But what really ticked me off? When I realized that this game wanted me to play like I am Dark-Souls Parry games!
I realized that when I played the first boss, I had 2 options to play "cOoL":
1. Do RED attack when the enemy flashes
2. Parry and press HEAVY attack to stun the enemy with any attack
Now, I said F*ck that parry, I'll just connect the 2 RED attacks.
But the first is, Yakuma $hitty "Blood" mode is slow AF. F-Off plastic game! Don't make it SLOW and drain some "blood" gauge! I've had enough with lazy boss fight designs that throw in super armor to make that so-called challenging, by basically making the boss not reactive to player attacks! NG2 at least had bosses that reacted to your attacks - when they felt like it. But when you boss fight design is the same and is downright bad and forced action game player to play like a lame Dark Souls one - THAT'S WHERE I DRAW THE LINE A$$H0LE$! Other than that, here's the rest of the $hitty things this wanna-be NG game has:
- A wanna-be miko priests which is designed to be way too sexually provocative
- Levels are either too white, too grey, or too grey-green and are not varied and beautiful. Why make the same mistake DMC5 did?
- Why is Ryu playable 20% of the game
- Why does Yakumo steal Ryu's moveset? Is there a point to this?
- Side missions concept in a classic hack-and-slash game DOES NOT WORK
- Forced walking sections! How do you make such a mistake?!
- Having Dark-Souls parry BS mechanics in an NG game is an insult, and I'll repeat it as many times as I want to Overall, it's clear from this point that the developers at Plastic Games are either incompetent to make brand new and stable mechanics that are NOT taken from the Bayonetta games, or... they were super lazy, since it seems that this game was on a tight budget. The unknown and/or "rare" cast English voice actors said as much, but the air combo you can do in NG4 is pretty identical to the one I could do in Nier Automata, which came out in 2016.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Ninja Gaiden 4 at first, as it felt like there was no way for the game to live up to all of its expectations. The more I play and spend time with the game, though, the more I fall in love with it. The combat is a perfect evolution that maintains everything I love about Ninja Gaiden, while also incorporating the accessibility and convenience of modern game design. The camera and targeting system can be annoying at times, but more often than not, those concerns fade away as I get into a groove and carve up enemies with my favorite weapons. This is the gold standard for fast-paced, high-octane, 3D action games. I just hope we don't have to wait another ten years for the next one.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is a shock to the system that reminds us of a time before Souls-likes. It's a high-octane, unrelenting, and effortlessly cool action game experience that newcomers and franchise fans alike need to play.

Ninja Gaiden is simply the best 3D game in the series. Is it different? Yes, very. Is that bad? Not at all. It's the most demanding and fast paced combat of the series and I bloody loved it

Ninja Gaiden 4 is not just a beautifully gory return for Team Ninja's twenty-one-year tenure with the series, but it's also vintage PlatinumGames, serving up a relentlessly paced flurry of swords, lopped limbs, and buckets of blood. What more could a ninja fan possibly want?

Despite the occasional on-rail hiccup, I’ve really enjoyed my time with Ninja Gaiden 4, and it’s easily a game I can see myself revisiting as I try to improve my own abilities and end of level scoring, offering up an easy reason to replay stages over and over again. It’s certainly a far better effort than its predecessor, and while it’s a very different Ninja Gaiden game compared to the recently released Ragebound, it’s a worthy follow-up to one of the more beloved action franchises out there. Hopefully the release of Ninja Gaiden 4 breathes new life into the franchise, as I’d love to see even more Ninja Gaiden titles released in the near future.

Not only a return to form for Ninja Gaiden but for PlatinumGames as well, in a game that may lack in innovation, but makes up for it in mechanical complexity.

Over a decade after the last mainline entry, Ninja Gaiden returns, this time infused with PlatinumGames’ unmistakable style. The result is a game packed with fast-paced, over-the-top action that’s undeniably fun, but it often feels more like Bayonetta than Ninja Gaiden. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though it might not be exactly what longtime fans were hoping for. Oh, and yes, the camera issues are still hanging around!.

Ninja Gaiden 4 delivers fast and furious action that will have you hacking and slashing through demons and cybernetic soldiers in a fun and satisfying way, but its overuse of gimmicks in its level design, lack of variety of weapons, and flat story keep this from being a game that will leave a lasting impression.

Awesome, much needed change from all the soulslike **** coming out these days. **** story and character development like other Ninja Gaiden games, but who cares when the combat is a 10/10. This has decent bosses unlike the the older ninja gaiden games that had **** bosses,

This game belongs in the past, but not in a good way. Mediocre. Bland. Repetitive. Would be innovative if the whole nj series never existed.
In an age where DMC has reached such heights, this is just an old game, on a new console. Very sad day for gaming. This should have been better. But it is not.
Let the 5000 players on steam play it and the devs to realise that this is a sad excuse of a new release.

El juego no se nota gran cambio comparado con los anteriores, incluso se siente como si estuvieras jugando el primero, gráficamente no me gusto, los personajes siguen teniendo texturas que parecen monos de plástico, prefiero un DMC o un Stellar Blade
