Nomada Studio is very open about Neva being inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s works. And I have to admit – they’ve really hit the mark: the game is very heartwarming and emotional. [Issue#265, p.82]
Neva is not yet a modern classic, but it's one of those games that can be completed in a couple of evenings but is memorable for years to come.

Wow, I'm absolutely stunned by the visuals, the music and the colours. The way that this game make you emotional in the first 15 min is insane. This is a work of art, like Gris, but I do prefer the Gris because it was my first game for the studio, and it had a more marvelous end, Neva is still a fantastic game, I would definitely recommend this game to anyone interested in a colourful world and 2D adventure. Once again Nomada Studios deliver an amazing, emotional and beautiful game. Played from the 15th February till 26th February 2026. 4 hours played.

All I wanted was more Gris and they gave me new Gris with a deer dog and a dark souls roll. They had me at deer dog and they kept going. Unbelievable. Gris had a unique personality to it in terms of visuals that sadly was not revisited for this game, but Neva has its own aesthetic that borrows some of the conventions from its predecessor while not directly copying it. If Gris is traditional art, then Neva is digital. Neva succeeds in the same ways that Gris did, but with a more concrete and straightforward narrative than I was expecting. Coming from Gris, which was intensely symbolic and focused more on the story told through music and metaphor, I was expecting something similar here, but instead Neva truly is a Journey-style game which places you into a beautiful and imaginative fantasy world and tasks you with travelling across its picturesque landscapes, accompanied by a gorgeous soundtrack. On those grounds, Neva succeeds just as well as its contemporaries, but sets it apart is the fact that it actually tries to be a game. Neva has combat which is simple yet satisfying, and platforming which is interesting but not convoluted. Neva is careful to balance the atmosphere and presentation with the gameplay, and expertly uses the gameplay as a means to connect the player with the developments in the world they are exploring. Gris was a puzzle game that didn't let its puzzles distract from the world, and Neva is a combat platformer that doesn't let its combat or platforming distract from its world. Both worlds are amazing to explore, both sound like God, but for my money I like the gameplay and setting of Neva just a little bit more. And especially the deer dog.

As in Journey, surely now an ordained saint of artistically ambitious and emotionally resonant video games, that cleaved mountain always looms in the distance, beckoning you towards it. You do eventually reach it, in the dead of winter, beaten down, the world dying around you. I’m still thinking about what happened there. Rarely has a game made me feel so much in a few short hours. It will be some time before I feel ready to play it again, but until I do, I will be recommending it to anyone who’ll listen.

Neva is beautifully crafted and deeply emotional, making for one of the most touching and exquisite games of the year. I loved the growing companionship between Alba and her cute wolf pal, as they evolved from hesitant adventurers into confident allies. The visuals are simply breathtaking, with a stunning watercolour aesthetic and lovely little details in its animations. On top of that, combat is satisfying and just varied enough as new abilities get added into the mix. Though it may be a relatively short adventure, Neva leaves a lasting impression that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Neva is Nomada studio's new gem that chronicles the stages of life as the world decays around you. It does not reach the heights of drama of GRIS, but it surpasses it in complexity of game systems, setting itself as a step forward for the Spanish studio, which has found its way and knows how to stamp its trademark.

Riding through Neva's landscapes is a balm for the heart. Its pastel-toned world, decadent and melancholic, the bursts of color, and then the darkness to face with a sword—just like in Princess Mononoke—offer an audiovisual experience with few equals. Through the bond between Alba and Neva, the new game from Nomada Studio tells a story of friendship and parenthood, drawing inspiration from the poetic universes of Fumito Ueda. It’s a short experience, and perhaps still too simple, but it leaves a mark thanks to its boundless artistic value.

Neva ultimately feels at odds with itself, trying to be too much at once. Its combat and platforming are competent, but not enough to carry the game on their own. Neva’s story seems to be reaching after pure emotional appeal and a more concrete tale at once, but landing awkwardly between them. While the sense of Alba and Neva’s connection is enchanting at first, the game loses focus on their relationship as it wears on. Even its stunning art — the best part of Neva by far — is stuck halfway between some of the most gorgeous depictions of nature I’ve ever seen in a game and less successful dives into surreal yet sparse environments. Maybe I’m being cold-hearted, but even its adorable wolf cub couldn’t keep me interested for long. Neva has its moments when everything briefly clicks, but in the end it takes a half-step in too many directions at once.

unrecognized this related to GRIS . It looks normal compared to Ori will forest or any 2D castlevania like games .The battle system is unnecessary , I prefer beauty , A female do not need to act She is tough fierce or Capable as a man can do ,But that meaningless to me. Anyway, the view angle should be mentioned .The simple way zoom in/zoom out is kind of Art .We have many 3D games nowadays. but the view angle can't be handled well . a manga Have independent story, characters,Most importantly the view angle. Like creator filming mini movie as director by personally . Not every artist have good sense and taste ,which scene focus on eyes, focus on face expression,Behind shoulder ,From sky .It's complicated .
