I'm the kind of guy who leaves the cinema and starts bombarding the people I went with with questions. Still I left this movie without talking to anybody, because I had no words. This film was mind blowing. It would be very obvious to praise the gorgeous animation, being this one of the most incredible stop motion efforts I've ever seen. Still, it's the story that made this movie the masterpiece it is. I'm shocked at the amount of people who couldn't appreciate the depth of the plot and the symbols spread around the movie. I guess that's what happens when you try to criticise such a transcendent and original piece of fantasy from the point of view of cold dry logic, which happens to be the main antagonist of the film.

This movie is funny as hell and very thought provoking. The situations on this film can seem a little absurd if someone simply explains them but they are portrayed in such a way that they are extremely relatable. In general the movie comes out as a very unusual and still realistic take on themes of sex and love, with a brilliant script and real performances that work in both humour and drama. The scene on which Kevin Smith gives his speech as Silent Bob has to be one of my favourite moments in film.

This movie was good. Good was not what I was anticipating, I wanted something as great as the original trilogy. So this movie was disappointing for me, but after re watching it a couple times I must admit it had a lot of good stuff going on. For starters, I'll point out the things I disliked the most. It tried to feel like the originals but it didn't, at all. The practical effects were good, but the overall tone was very different. Another problem is the fact that whenever they introduced a CGI character was way too noticeable, specially Snoke. Perhaps my biggest issue is how studied every single aspect of the movie seemed to be, it felt as it was developed by a committee instead of one person's artistic vision. Appart from all those negatives, the movie was overall enjoyable. The new characters are pretty memorable, the old ones still seem relevant and the story builds up a lot of possibilities for the new trilogy. Let's wait and see how this movie fits on the big picture of the saga. For now it gets a 7.

Zootopia is an amazing movie. It works perfectly as a children's film while projecting mature themes that are very relevant on today's society. The amount of detail that's been given to this world is unbelievable and the characters are very well realised. The story is heartfelt and smart, and humour is spread throughout the whole thing. If I had to pick some negatives I'd say that the way the villain is revealed felt very rushed and the song by Shakira is awful. This movie is a must see, probably the best modern Disney effort.

The animated Disney version was my favourite movie as a child. This new take didn't surpass it, but it did it justice. The characters of Shere Khan and the Wolves were more interesting, but the overall darker tone made it loose a bit of the original's charm. It's still a movie worth watching.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I think the reason this movie has gotten so bad reviews is because of the ridiculous amount of hype which was created around the concept of these two colossal characters facing each other for the first time. I like Batman a lot, I've never cared that much about Superman. I went into these movie with very low expectations (due in part to it's predecessor Man Of Steel, a lifeless waste of time), and I left the cinema very surprised. This movie delivered a very investing version of Batman and I understood the depth of Superman as a character for the first time. I also seem to be the only person who likes Jesse Eisenberg as the villain (I understand he is not the classic Luthor and his plan never made much sense, but something about his performance captivated me on every scene he was in). Both the cinematography and the score were amazing. I can take into account all the problems people are pointing out: it tried to be a lot of movies at once, there were a lot of plot holes and the last act was pretty bad. Nevertheless, I don't think these compromise the overall enjoyment of the movie.

This movie was pretty looking. Sometimes. On every other aspect, the movie was very bad. This universe has the potential of developing something special but instead aims at the lowest common denominator. Bland characters, bland story, go read a book.

Captain America: Civil War

It seems like the character arcs of Iron Man and Captain America had been building up for this conflict all along. This movie is a turning point of the MCU. Even though it plays it safe by not killing off any character this movie has a lot of implications on the story line of the superheroes and it is done on a very entertaining way, with a nice balance of comedy and drama and a great cast of characters (who are not developed, but that's what all the previous movies did ). The biggest issue I have with this movie is the way the action scenes are edited on its first half, the camera seemed very shaky and shaky is not what you want on a movie with the budget to deliver stunts and CGI action. Thankfully the action stays more focused as the movie progresses. This movie was overall a very exciting superhero flick that keeps the future of the MCU interesting. And high hopes for the new Spiderman.

This movie is comedy gold, definitely the movie this character deserved. You could argue that the plot is as cliché as it gets, but in reality it's just an excuse to bomb you with meta-jokes throughout the entire film. Self awareness on film is nothing new, but no other film has taken the concept to this level. For Deadpool the stuff that happens on his world is just as important as the stuff that happens on hours. He is making sure that you follow and feel his story while you laugh your ass off every second of the film.

Just like the first installment this is a fun little movie with cool sequences that doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't think it has improved upon the first NYSM, it felt like the magic elements had been reduced and so the movie lost a bit of the original's charm. I don't think it offers a lot as a sequel, since we're left with virtually the same cliffhangers we had on the first movie. The only characters that are still interesting are the ones played by Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman, the other ones offered style and not a lot of substance (except for Woody Harrelson's dumb brother, who simply left me scratching my head). Even with it's flaws this is a watchable film that will keep you entertained for a couple hours, but don't go in expecting to be mind blown.

This wasn't the best movie on the franchise, nor the worst. Just another enjoyable chapter adding up to the X-Men saga without doing anything new, nor anything really awful. It's an OK film. And Quicksilver is f*cking amazing.

I found this to be a very boring movie. I've heard it been marketed as this generation's E.T., the return of Spielberg's magic, but for me that magic got lost in between fart jokes and cartoonish giant CGI bullies. The only admirable aspect of this movie is the beauty of some scenes (specially the one on the Tree of Dreams) which combined with the score made up some great cinematic moments. If you are a big fan of the book or just want to watch everything Spielberg related go on and watch it, you might like it. It seems also very effective for kids, the ones on my theatre loved it. But as for me, this movie did nothing.

In comparison to the original I think it looses a bit of heart but gains a lot of humour. It still finds the balance between a fun kids adventure and investing enough themes for adults (maybe not as much as last year's Inside Out but enough to keep you entertained at any age). It's not a Pixar masterpiece but an enjoyable family flick worth watching nevertheless.

This movie is the most fun waste of potential I've ever seen. On the one hand, it is noticeable that the former idea of this movie was dumbed down to reach a wider audience, trying so hard to make us sympathise with the "bad guys" that they never felt like bad guys at all. What's also a real shame is how little of Jared Leto's Joker we get after all the hype he was getting, having most of his scenes cut to make him more of a Prince Charming than the Clown Prince of Crime we expected (and Jared Leto seems to be the one that's most pissed about it). But, with all it's problems, I'd be lying if I didn't admit I had a great time watching this film. What you get in the end is a very exciting movie with an amazing cast. We have the best Will Smith role in years and Margot Robbie steals the show on every scene she is in. It's the interaction between the characters that make this movie work and had me wanting to watch more of each individual. So despise my cold mind reminding me of it's many structural problems and missed opportunities, I have to go with my heart and recommend this movie as a very entertaining experience that will have you hoping to see this characters back on the screen.
